The batteries last quite a long time between charges -like days- Grandpa and the grandson (3years old) are always at the touch of a button away. I bring one to work with me sometimes, 6 miles away and my little guy can pop in when ever he wants to say, “hey Momma!” It’s a blast!

With a 37 mile range, you can't go wrong! It really provides peace of mind when you want to communicate with someone who's not within shouting distance. I also like the fact that the rechargeable batteries are AA, which are cheaper and stronger than the AAA type.

This pair says 37 miles I thought I'd upgrade,they don't reach a block if there's a house in between. Very disappointed, I returned them. The old ones are great

Posted .Jeff, I am sorry to hear that you were having coverage issues with your radio. This FRS radio should have comparable coverage as other FRS radios. Please ensure you are using the high power channels (1-7 & 15-22) and in the high power mode to achieve maximum range. The radio is capable of a maximum of 37 miles under ideal conditions. Range will vary depending on power settings, obstructions, terrain, interference from other users, atmospheric noise and battery level. We couldn't hear each other at all. Worked fine at 4 blocks, but after 5 we had nothing. The area was relatively flat with houses around. Another thing is that the battery panel if super hard to get off. We had to use a sharp knife to remove it. It feels like you're going to break it to get the panel off. One of the screws broke while screwing it back in too.
