There was a film made in the 1950's called "Colditz" with John Mills and a slew of other great British actors. That film was about the actual great escape story which was made in the 60's with Steve McQueen and James Gardner. This 2010 "Colditz" is an update of the one made in the 50's with the real prison being an old castle in France, not the way the prison looked like with McQueen.
This 2010 update has an unbelievable love story intertwined with all the prison breaks, and there are many attempts at breaking out of this castle, and every prisoner has to wait his turn. Before the hero is imprisoned he falls in love with a girl. But another prisoner falls in love with her too, when he escapes he tells the girl and the British military that the hero died trying to escape, and then steals the hero's girlfriend, and they fall in love with each other. I won't tell you the ending, but when the hero finds out what the other British prisoner did he is desperate to escape and goes out of turn to escape and get back to England, where he confronts the liar and shocks his girl when she sees he's alive. The hero wants and gets his revenge. GREAT ENDING!
