All too often, I have a nice bottle of wine but don’t want to commit to finishing the entire bottle before it goes bad. I’ve tried the hand vacuum seal tops but nothing seams to actually preserve the wine. Along comes Coravin in a blog post and my interests were piqued. Pros: • Truly allows 1 glass servings • Easy to use • Nice case Cons: • Pricey upfront cost • Pricey refills, but one capsule is expected to last a few 2-3 bottles • Must be real cork or screw top. No synthetic cork. A very well thought out solution to a problem I've always had. I went with the Model 6 for the fact that it comes with a carrying case. The case can easily protect your Coravin along with more argon gas and screw top adaptors. I can easily carry this to a dinner party or keep it protected in the case in the cupboard. Very easy to get started. Upon opening of the box, you are greeted with a QR code that links you to their training vids. The argon gas capsules are easy to install and cleaning of the needle is straight forward. The process is quite simple. Pick your bottle of wine with a natural cork, cut the foil and press down on the Coravin to pierce the cork. Press the level a few times to pressurize and out comes the wine. After pouring, remove the Coravin and the cork will naturally seal the hole and the argon gas will not oxidize or ruin the flavor of your wine. They have claimed that you can store it for months to even years afterwards. Their phone app is also worth downloading. It has wine pairings with recipes. It also allows you to catalog your wine collection with a photo taken from your cell camera. I do highly recommend the Coravin for any wine love that doesn’t want to commit to finishing the entire bottle in one sitting. Knowing that I can pick and choose from my wine collection to pair with my meals is a game changer.

    Excellently Designed System

This wine preservation system is very well-designed and easy to use. I was a little intimidated at first, since it looked a little complicated, but once I understood how it worked. I was surprised at how simple it was to use. It feels sturdy, and capable of being used for years to come. Care seems to have been taken in each piece that was included. The carrying case (which is also great to store it in our kitchen drawer), the screw-on caps to the unit itself. How well the system works, even with screw-on cap bottles is very impressive. You just remove the lid from the bottle and put on one of the reusable ones that came with the Coravin system and the needle just stabs through it. It all works very well. Cleaning is easy as well, you just run a bit of water through it and purge the system with a quick spray. Overall, I think the only thing about this that I can count against it is the speed a which the wine is dispensed. It can be a bit slow. I saw that Coravin offers a large needle/pin to provide quicker flow, so I think we’ll give that a shot. The replacement caps for the screw-on bottles and the air capsules aren’t overly expensive either. Otherwise, this seems like an excellent way to preserve and still enjoy your wine. Pros: Very easy to use, well-made, elegant looking and thoughtful design, reasonable priced air capsule and screw-on cap replacements Cons: Speed at which wine is dispensed is a bit slow (though this can be modified with a larger pin/needle)

I am not a wine snob or a wine connoisseur, but I do like to have a glass of a smokey red wine that might be aged in a whiskey barrel. But in my household, I am the only one. My wife and my family like the light fruity wines that do not have any imagination to them. I usually open a bottle and over some time, maybe get two or three glasses out of it before it becomes acidic and not worth drinking. I came across the Coravin system, which has been a complete game changer. If you’re not familiar with the system, it is basically a wine opener that doesn’t remove the cork but pushes a needle thru the cork that you pour from. It then adds Argon gas to the bottle to help preserve the wine, so no air gets to it. You then remove needle and the bottle sits on your shelf like a new bottle until you are ready for the next glass. You do not taste or realize that the argon gas is in the bottle. It initially looks intimidating to use, but their website is put together very well, and the videos and tutorials really make using it easy. They have an app to use with an I-Phone, they do not have one for Android. There are several different versions to choose from, I have the Coravin Model 6 which comes with three of the Argon canisters which are good for about 15 glasses each. It also comes with a nice carrying case that everything fits into. Another feature that the system has is that it comes with 2 reusable screw-on tops that you can use to replace your screw on wine top, you would then use the system as you would with the cork, but you would insert the needle into the reusable top. They say these screw on tops are good for about 15 uses. I am really excited about this purchase; I feel like now I can drink the wine I want to drink without worrying about it going bad. I will feel more comfortable buying wine that cost a little more without the dread of wasting it.

This wine preservation system does is exactly what you need if you need to preserve your bottle of wine why you sip it down. I am a person who once I open the bottle I finish the bottle and this system is not made for those types of people or that type of bottle of wine. If you like to sip down wine this is the system for you. It will save you money in the long run as your bottle will stay preserved for well over a year with how this is designed. It uses argon gas to preserves your wine in a really cool method. Most wines use a cork and this system has a needle that go through your cork that allows the system to pump argon gas into your wine which then makes the wine pour into your glass. After the first time you use it you will understand how it works. Its pretty simple but hard to explain. You then can remove the system and take the needle out without ever having to pop the cork. Its pretty cool how it uses argon gas to preserve the wine rather than trying to vacuum seal. This will out beat any vacuum system any day because your wine will never touch air until it hits your glass. Also, you can use this system on multiple bottles as you can easily put the needle through any cork and remove it. It does come with a few caps for bottles of wine that uses a cap with a resealable type silicone so you won't have to reopen. The only problem with this is that your wine will touch air but remember thats only for screw top bottle which are usually cheaper bottles of wine. Your not buying this for a cheap bottle of wine but to rather save and savor your good bottles for as long as possible. I highly recommend this system if you have quality bottles of wine that you want to sip overtime and preserve or if you want to enjoy a bottle over over a longer period of time than normal. The cons I have is that I wish this had an aerator included and some type of stand. Without a stand its kind of hard to put this system somewhere when you are not using it. I usually just put the coravin back in its bag when not in use. Finally, I wish the bottles of argon were a little bit bigger. Each one has enough air for 3 bottles. The coravin is long so I feel like a longer bottle of argon to be able to fill 5-6 bottles of wine would have been better. Screw tops! Do not use this system with screw tops. I test one bottle with a screw top and 3 weeks later it was no good. Like I said before you don't use this system for screw tops. I would only use it for corked bottles. When I used a corked bottle it tasted just as fresh two weeks later. These reasons/cons are why I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars. The photos I used are with the screw top bottle as I was testing to see how long a screw top will last. As I found out not very long. Don't worry your cork bottle will be safe!

A Glass Today, and a Glass Whenever

The Coravin Model Six is one of the most useful things I own today. You see, I do enjoy an occasional glass of cabernet sauvignon...with my favorite rare steak. And that's it. So what do I do with the rest of the wine bottle?! Have more steak! But that gets old, so I'll probably want to have another glass, say, in a couple of weeks or a couple of months...when I have steak. By that time, my already uncorked bottle of Napa Valley goodness is no bueno. That's where this fantastic piece of engineering comes in to save the day. Quite simple to use, no uncorking required. Just seat the SmartClamps around the neck of the bottle, prime the pour lever to let off some gas, and push the needle down through the cork. The design mechanics are both simple and brilliant. Tilt the Coravin Six's spout lower than the bottle itself and press the lever to release some argon gas...then release the lever. The pressure built from releasing the gas into the bottle then forces liquid back through the needle and out of the Six's spout into your wine glass. That’s it. I’ve learned that the longer you hold the lever down, the more wine will pour out. I typically hold it for about 1-2 seconds and let the Coravin do the rest. Pushing argon gas into the wine bottle (and keeping oxygen out!) prevents oxidation, which helps keep wine fresh much, much longer. That’s the science behind it. The model Six is a premium looking product with chrome accents and rubber grips to help with pouring. The SmartClamps are matte black and feel very sturdy, especially while attached to the bottle's neck. Keeping the Coravin clean and maintained is quite simple. Rinse the spout and needle under running water, let off some gas to clear the needle, and pat dry. That's it! The Six comes with 3 argon gas capsules. Each argon gas capsule is rated to pour up to 15 glasses, and this more than enough for me. It also comes with screw caps for those bottles of wine that are not corked. That’s pretty cool, but the screw cap will only keep the wine good for about 3 months; the corked bottles will go much longer. The carry pouch is a nice touch if you decide to transport it. My complaints? It does pour a little slow, but I know there is a fast pour needle that I can purchase to remedy that. But why do I have to buy a different needle for that? Also, I found that with each pierce into the cork, I sometimes end up getting a couple of cork fragments into my glass. It's not the Coravin's fault, but the quality of the cork. So I suggest you clear the needle before pouring your first glass, just to be sure. My use case for drinking wine may be different from yours, but the bottom line is if you don’t intend to finish a bottle of wine within a few days, then this product is for you.

My wife enjoy a bottle of wine every now and then, but we are unable to finish a bottle in time. I was glad about the Coravin Model Six and was eager to test it out. After about a month of testing it with two different bottles, here are my thoughts. Pros - wine preservation. You never have to remove the cork ever again! For us this has been one of the best features. You can keep the bottle cork on and the Coravin will dispense the wine, ensuring you are able to enjoy that bottle for longer periods of time. The system works with the clamp inserting a needle into the bottle cork and thus accessing your wine. With the capsule system, your trigger the wine through a sprout into your glass. Cork remains the entire time. Too easy! And as an aerator, the taste is more crisp. - cap accessories. Say you have a wine bottle with a twist cap, can you still use this? Yes. Coravin provides 2 caps with a rubber middle that can screw on the bottle. They are different sizes: standard and large. The Coravin needle will insert into the rubber and works the same as the cork bottle. You also execute 3 Coravin Pure Capsules and a Carry Case for the system, and a wine sleeve. That’s a lot of accessories. - ease of use: I was a little nervous on using this as this was the first time I’ve ever used a preserving system. The instructions are a little wordy for me, but the diagrams makes it easy to follow. Once the system is on your bottle, the trigger slowly release into your glass. And when you are done, they provide a needle clearing tool for use as well as just running it under the faucet to clean. Neutral - app: as with any tech device, they provide an app for you to download. The app provides you with different wine options for certain events, or what they describe as Coravin Moments: Mother’s Day, BBQ, cinco de Mayo, and celebrating Star Wars Episode 1! I opened the Star Wars one and they recommend a Sweet Shiraz as you follow the Skywalker adventure. To be honest I would probably not use these Moments but am grateful for the recommendations. Cons: - the needle is sharp. I nearly poked myself when washing it as I forgot that the needle was there. Even with the clamp down it’s easy to forget about the needle. Overall, I am grateful that we are able to preserve our wine for longer amounts of time. The box states “years”, but I really don’t think I will be keeping a bottle in my fridge for that long. Besides the needle or the app, this is a great device for you wine connoisseurs out there.

Prior to opening this Wine preservation system I was skeptical. I didn't believe that this level of tech was available to public. I am now a believer. This system is top notch for a couple of key reasons in my opinion. 1 - It actually works and 2 - It was a breeze for me to use and install. The tech actually works... I have tested this on 2 separate wines now and have not see a fault in quality/taste. After unboxing this system I noticed a nice walk through on how to install while leveraging the companion app by my side. It comes with 3 canisters which equates to plenty of runway for beginners like me. The current bottle I am using with this system is over a week old and has not diminishing taste whatsoever. Secondly, as noted above. I am a novice in this arena. The install of the canisters is self explanatory and easy to follow its instructions. I am very satisfied with this product and am happy to see restaurant level tech coming to my home. If you are able to open the box you should easily be able to use this product, no problem! All in all this product boils down to being able to stand up to its promise, which it does and being user/novice friendly. This product has left me very happy with the experience it has provided me.

Sip & Savor the Vine with Elegance

Coravin’s system offers “Wine without Compromise” which is precisely what I found using their latest Model Six Wine System. Upon receiving my Coravin it was clear the system elevates the wine experience. Evident in the sheer elegance of the system to delivering a remarkable technique of cantering vino within the bottle. Joyfully days after “tapping” my first bottle found the taste of the wine in the bottle was smoother, fuller, and perfectly flavorful. My main surprise was for my initial use of the system I used a nice though bit of pedestrian bottle of wine. Truth is the wine had remarkably matured into a lovely glass of wine. Getting started was as smooth as the wine, simply visit Coravin.com/start for instructions. The fusion of the Coarvin and the vine and how all this delightfully delicious science works is beyond my comprehension. What I know is the pleasure in enjoying a thoroughly worthy glass of wine, the Coravin system is rather quite special. The Coravin system is for Oenophiles who appreciates the finer flavors of the vine with a fusion of elegance, that is “inspired by luxury.” The Coravin will enhance any table set with friends. Thoughts - Wine should age well after opening for up to years - Love the colors and aesthetics for wine service - Freedom of changing wines for meals Notes - Not for sparkling wines - Does not work with synthetic or rubber corks Coravin delivers on their claim of “Wine without Compromise.” Heartily recommend the Coravin System to the Wine Lover.

If you've ever said to yourself "the only thing stopping me from having a glass of this wonderful wine that I brought back from France" then the Coravin will be as game-changing for you as it is for me. The system works on the principle that the cork doesn't need to be removed for you to drink the wine. The rest is just peripheral technology. The gas canisters that charge the bottle and prevent oxidation, the included caps for protecting poured from corks, and the lovely carrying case. For the model 6 vs the others, you definitely get more value and it's in consumables that you will want or will need eventually anyway. It may come as no surprise. but this product is well made and works well, with little leakage from the area that the needle penetrates the cork. I didi only have one problem on a cork that was problematic and the needle pushed a piece of the cork into the bottle. The good news is that if this happens the pouring needle is too small for most pieces of the cork to come up anyway. I can now drink casually from important bottles of wine in my collection without feeling like I need to finish them in one sitting or waste the rest. I would recommend this product to anyone that has a wine collection or enjoys a nice bottle of red on a friday night.

I rarely indulge in a bottle of wine at home. There was a time in my life when I would purchase a nice red wine to share amongst friends, but as we’ve all gotten older, I don’t find myself buying wine to drink alone. One of the main reasons for that is because it typically goes bad before I finish the bottle. Fortunately, the Coravin Model Six Wine Preservation system exists and solves the problem of wine going bad. The idea behind the Coravin system is that you don’t expose the contents of a bottle of wine to the open air, which causes oxidation to occur. Oxidation causes an unpleasant taste once its been open for only a day or two and thus, the bottle is ruined. This is the reason that Coravin is worth the investment. The system makes it possible for you to be able to keep the cork in the bottle so that oxidation doesn’t occur. The system arrives preassembled with the exception of the Coravin Pure Capsules. Similar to inserting a battery into a toy on Christmas morning, you do have to place the capsule into the Coravin assembly before using it. The capsule contains 99.99% ultra-pure argon gas. I found it interesting that argon gas is what’s used to pressurize the system since that’s the same element that is used to fill incandescent and flourescent light bulbs. That said, once it’s placed and primed by pressing the trigger, you can use the system. The process of using the Coravin is very simple. You simply slide the SmartClamps around the mouth of the bottle and insert the needle through the cork (or screw cap). Then, you tip the bottle over a glass and press the trigger to pour the wine. Once you are done, remove the Coravin from the bottle and rinse it off according to the instructions in the user guide. So far, I really like the Coravin. I haven’t been able to use it much but the bottle that I used it on is still good 5 days after I first opened it and it usually goes bad in 3. I also really love that Coravin provides special twist caps for those bottles that don’t have a cork.

It look cool and meant to keep wine in good condition. Its capsule Argon65 made of element from periodic table 18, which the element used in the light bull. So in overall it look complex and elegant way to preserve the wine. But after use multiple bottles, doesn't feel much difference with or without it. Secondly, in actual use doesn't feel practical to pour, and its size is being bulky hard to store where space is limited. If one like to finish the bottle in one or two days, then most probably don't recommend. IF for more days, maybe if don't mind spending that much and not see big benefit at end, then need to add up maintenance due that need to buy capsule that didn't last more than a bottle for me.

This is the perfect solution when you don't want to finish the entire bottle in one sitting -- you pour as much (or as little) as you want, and the rest of the bottle stays well preserved.
