orsair - CX Series 850W Bad!!!

Read reviews saw about 16%+ issues and a few of them failed prior to install, others 5 days after install, and some immediately after install/power up. I was replacing a Corsair TX 850 that lasted 5.5 years (5 year warranty). I wanted an EVGA PSU, but the one supposedly in stock was gone. I was hesitant about buying the CX 850. I installed the new CX 850 in my system. Double checked all connections. Turned on to bench test. Immediately, a loud buzz, followed 2 seconds later by a even loader pop!!!! From the power supply!!!!! Obviously a cap died in the power supply!!! Returning to Bestbuy today!!! A noted problem in the CX PSU's in general. Do not buy....Bottom line: W/ Corsair now, you roll the dice. Some people are lucky and have a great PSU, others get failure, aggravation and frustration. I ordered an EVGA from New Egg since BestBuy didn't have in stock. Save your self the luck of the draw and buy a known tried and true PSU for your system. Hopefully the PSU didn't fry anything in my system.

Bought this for my computer at best buy as it had good reviews and was recommended by the store employee who checked me out too. 16 days later it caught fire. SIXTEEN days, best buy refused to replace it because their policy only covers 2 weeks and Corsair wanted a month long project(mail it, have it inspected, wait for new one) so I ended up buying a Evga 850w. Barely longer than 2 weeks, I have never seen this outside of used or no brand PSU's. Disappointed in both best buy and cosair. I strongly recommend you don't roll the dice.
