Single Player: I believe there are 31 tracks to race in this game, all of them are a blast; although there is a learning curve that can be a bit strong for players new to kart racers.
Solid A.
Couch Co-op: My kids and I are having a great time racing and playing the battle modes. Most notably are the flag capture and crystal collecting battle modes. It will frustrate you in all the right ways.
A+.
Online multiplayer: I'm not waiting too long for matches, and the races run smoothly. The learning curve is the steepest here, you are required to fully understand thid game's mechanics to place high in these races. I haven't tried the battle modes online yet, i'll review those at a later time.
Solid A.
Performance: I haven't encountered any bugs or glitches in this game, and the FPS remains stable, even during all of the explosions and madness that can happen in 4 player couch co-op battle modes. The game looks beautiful.
A+.
Cons: Activision has you flip through a total of some 60+ pages of terms and conditions before playing the game for the first time. You can breeze through in seconds, but it was a little rediculous. I haven't seen any microtransactions yet, so hopefully they aren't ever added.
Final notes: Unless you want to play this game on the go, the PS4 version is the definitive way to play. It includes extra skins, stickers (in-game), and if i'm not mistaken, the retro track is PS4 exclusive too.
If you like Mario Kart, this is a bit more challenging of a game. If you like the original CTR games, you'll love this itteration. At $40, it's a great value.

This should really be a 4.5 star review, but a few things kept me from rounding up. Hopefully, updates will address these few flaws.
CTR is a wonderful remake/ reboot that falls into both categories, grabbing maps & characters from the entire series.
Even if you never played the originals, this is probably the best Kart racer in all of the PlayStation's history (I'd put ModNation from PS3 right alongside it) and certainly the closest you'll get to the King of Karting, in Mario Kart.
If you're familiar at all with Kart racing- race with zany characters on courses just as crazy while picking up power-ups that either give you an advantage or rain on opponents' parades, you know what to expect.
Some thinga that set it apart include a ton of different costumes for characters, often going beyond clothing to complete reskins (Skunk Bandicoot!) As well as cosmetics for the vehicles- paint jobs, new tires, even entirely new bodies.
Which brings us to the first issue: while nothing costs real money, roughly 70% of all items get unlocked via in-game currency, and the payouts are BEYOND weak. Often, you're talking about a race earning double digits in rewards (no coin pickups on the tracks themselves,) at around 60 coins for a win (depending on several factors,) with unlocks often costing in the thousands.
The second, and perhaps the biggest drawback are the controls, with only two schemes on offer (no personal remapping,) and neither utilize controls that have been the standard since the end of PS2 era for any racing games. The standby R2= accelerate/ L2= brake/ reverse is nowhere to be found, outside of one scheme that allows R2 usage. Brake & reverse? No, not only is it never mapped as L2, they're two entirely separate entities, with brake always assigned as square, and reverse always, for some unknown reason, set to the D-Pad. As an adult, it's hard enough rewiring my brain after 2 1/2 generations of consoles for this bizarre scheme, but what's more infuriating is that with CTR's family-friendly (and 4 person couch racing! Yay!) Is that it presents an even bigger hurdle of frustration for younger players (I have a 6y/o that LOVES racing games,) to the point of surrender in the early goings. This may be based on "nostalgia," as the original CTR debuted on PS1, and the early controller didn't feature thumbsticks, but there's a reason racing games have universally adopted "trigger" gas & brakes... it's better and more intuitive.
Lastly, you may have read about lengthy load times in professional review sites. Perhaps it was updated some prior to my purchase, because while they are a bit longer than you'd expect, they aren't atrociously long.
All of these things are relatively low-maintenance issues that hopefully, Beenox will address in future updates. If not, it would be a shame, but nothing worth discarding a purchase over. The biggest issue, the controls, can be adapted to after playing some races, while the skins have two advantages in that you're not being forced to shell out actual cash, despite CTR coming in at a budget price; and nothing in the skin shop "leaves". It resets every 24 hours, but per Beenox, it's only a rotation of items. You'll never lose out on an item by not having enough coins, you'll either need to wait until your desired item returns, OR, If you own everything in that category, your final item will remain and not be rotated out while you gather up the necessary currency.
Overall, a very fun game that's perfect for family nights or for when the younger ones have friends over, as long as you give it a bit of patience, both for the controls and for earning goodies.

This game brings back so many memories! It is even better than the original CTR. Plenty of customization and unlockables and is an awesome game for couch co-op!!!!!!
It seems to be a little harder than the ps1 original. Maybe my reflexes aren't as good haha! Loads of fun

Remastered throwback fun to play but more difficult to win against the game than I remember. It also took a minute to remember the driving controls since it used to be different buttons to control racing games than the modern race games. Still fun brings me back to early 2000's. Best part it is a game you can play on the ps5 with true split screen multi-player mode!

It's great to have these older games for the PS4. They've been upgraded very well, and look great. Caught this on sale, too, so that didn't hurt my decision. Hours of (sometimes frustrating, lol) fun.

Just another great game in the Crash series. Fantastic story and awesome graphics to keep you entertained. Great fun for the whole family. Tho the kids get much more time with the controller they have had a real blast with this game. They can go for hours and it provides lots of laughs. We recommend this for your family.

In terms of gameplay and mechanics, it almost matches the original game. Kudos to the team who managed to almost replicate it, which exceeded my expectations. The environment is very much alive and colorful although I did miss the small dark overtones shown in the voice acting.
Tracks are very detailed and animated and managed to patch off shortcuts on certain levels that would break the race so to speak.
I'll give this 4 stars because Beenox seemed to focus a bit too much on character and kart skins rather than fix bugs that were present online.
The online portion of this game disappointed me in several ways such as gaining small rewards for winning yet accumulating many coins for coming in last and too many occurrences of powerful items like the clock and the mask. However, I am glad that I can say that I experienced an online CTR race, something that I've dreamed of years ago.

First, I'm terrible with video games but I still try. This one is so addictive to me. Thank goodness I don't drive like this in real life. It is so much fun. Great picture quality with fine detail on vehicles, characters and background. The sounds are funny. A good way to pass the time and get away from it all, sit back and have some fun. This will keep me interested for a long time.

This game has personally become my favorite kart racer even 1 UPing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe because of it’s skill ceiling and rewarding gameplay when you master the controls. It’s way faster, more responsive, and puts you in control but, I do have a WARNING. This game is way harder than Mario Kart 8 in every way and if you are completely new to this game DO NOT PUT THE DIFFICULTY TO HARD YOU WILL REGRET IT. Hard should be categorized as INSANE because the A.I. does not hold back at all and will completely focus you and will catch up extremely quickly when you are in the lead. So start off with the difficulty on easy, you will thank me later. Once you finish adventure mode then start ramping up the difficulty. Other than that the amount of tracks, character customization, and adventure mode are Amazing.

Was a huge fan of the original game on the PS1. This game is extremely faithful to the original, and the few things that are different manage to improve the game in every way. It's hard to ignore the powerhouse of a franchise that is Mario Kart. I believe this is the superior game overall. While Mario Kart is probably the better game to play with friends and have a good time, the skill ceiling for Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled is much higher. If you've ever wanted a challenge playing a Kart Racer and learning intricate techniques and shortcuts to conquer the game, this is something that's certainly worth it.

Incredible game. Wonderful remake. Those who group up on the PlayStation playing CTR will fall in love again. Music is masterfully redone, but feels exceptionally familiar.
Does feel a tad harder than the original similar to the remake of Crash 1, 2, 3.

A really fun game to play. Playstation's variation of Mario Kart doesn't disappoint. Some of the levels can be buggy at times but I haven't had a point where it was annoying me to the point it was unplayable. Controls are a lot more complicated than I remember the original being but fun overall!

This game is great fun whether playing by yourself or with others. I've enjoyed the game for years and played regularly with my sons, who eventually always beat me handily. That is when I learned that you can drive around the coco track backwards and just blow people up. Buy the game for pure enjoyment.
