Naval thriller that asks many questions and offers no answers. it is a good source for debate for both sides represented by Gen Hackman and Denzel Washington are equally right and equally wrong concerning the operation of a nuclear missile submarine and the deployment of its nuclear missiles.

Been a while since I've seen this. Have always loved the movie. Was trying to decide between dvd and bluray and was hearing that the bluray has a noticeable superior picture and sound. Would say that I wouldn't have been able to tell that the film was from more than a quarter-century ago.

1 of the films that deserves a 4K treatment with Atmos sound- however until then this is a great Blu-ray film, and when upconverted through my Oppo 205 4K player- the image is wonder and the sound very good. Not many great submarine movies out there, however this is 1 of them.

Classics never die. This film, while now starting to get on in age, is one of the modern gold standards for submarine set films. The cast is solid and it isn’t very over the top. If you’re looking for fun, look no further. If you’re looking for the thinking person’s film, you might want to keep looking.

A definite Gem of a performance between Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman! The movie is accurate regarding the rules of the chain of command in launching nuclear weapons and the authorization orders to launch nukes. A must have for your collection!

Director Scott and the Bruckheimer/Simpson producing team give the viewer the ride of his life. Superb acting by Denzel Washington and powerhouse Gene Hackman make this a must-have for any film fan's collection. The fate of the world depends on decisions made by the captain of this nuclear submarine--and not everyone is in agreement with what he is planning.

I don't understand why this film doesn't get the same love that was lavished on "The Hunt For Red October". It's been quite some time since I last watched it, but for my money this is the superior film. Denzel Washington makes everything he is in better, of course, but this is a strong story and cast to begin with. Washington and Hackman going toe-to-toe is an absolute pleasure!

It’s about a nuclear submarine ready to launch their middles and start WW3. They received their orders to fire and then half a message afterwards. Gene wants to fire and Denzel wants to get the whole second message. The ending will surprise you.

This is definitely one of my more favorite sub flicks, and I wanted to have better pic and sound over the original DVD I've had since it was first released. Sound mastery is definitely an improvement, as is the picture naturally. Hope they remaster this on 4K.

Gave this gift to my uncle and he was happy . One of his favorites.

I was really happy to see this blu ray on sale at BB. I picked it up for 6.99. Stop by BB and get it if you don't already have a copy of it. Great movie and excellent acting on both Washington and Hackman. Slipcover- no Digital-no Blu ray only no DVD.

One of the greatest movies of all time!!! The Blu-ray transfer is great and highly recommended. I doubt this will ever get a 4K transfer so this may the best we get for this film. The price of as on point too.

An Excellent DVD Movie post- COLD WAR threats with action/thriller, very suspenseful and intriguing! Love the cast Gene Hackman & Denzel Washington is superb!

The perfect old versus new school military with possible global consequences. One of my favorite submarine movies, just behind The Hunt for Red October.

I already owned this on DVD and wanted it on Blu Ray. I put this in the same vein A Few Good Men, Behind Enemy Lines, Rules of Engagement, etc. Good military cinematography, action and conflict. Love the climax and ending. Classic Bruckheimer.

It you are a fan of nail biting drama you will love this movie. Great over the top acting. Realistic looking claustrophobic interiors of a submarine. Blu-ray is slim on features but looks and sounds great.

Crimson Tide movie is 23 year old movie with a young denzel washington . the man is great in every movie he makes. and this movie was under five dollars at best buy in there discount bin

I love submarine movies, and I love thrillers. Crimson Tide is the best of both. The cast is outstanding. The way the balance of power on the sub keeps shifting will keep you riveted.

Good movie; the only questionable feature is when the captain (Gene Hackman) avoids a Russian Sub, but doesn't seem too concerned about it still being in the area.
