While there may not be options to boost the overall performance of the P3 Plus, I would say it's generally more than fast enough for my custom gaming rig. Definitely a plus from going 2TB to 4TB.

I recently had to consolidate my storage from 2 hard drives onto an nvme ssd and was looking to purchase a second 980 Pro. This drive is definitely not the fastest out there, only able to read at speeds around 4000mbps and write at 4800mbps. However, it still performs capably with moving 3TB worth of steam games without any hiccups. I use this drive strictly for my steam library and games load much quicker than before, and I haven’t had any issues. Overall, if you’re looking to get a large storage drive and don’t need Gen 5 nvme, super fast read/write speeds, and are trying to fit within a budget, this Crucial P3 should perform excellent if you’re upgrading from 2.5” ssds or any hard disk drive.

At just $55 for TB at the time of purchase makes this NVMe 4TB an unbeatable value for the quality and quantity of NVMe Gen4 M.2 hands down the best of the best for under the $300 mark.

This is the best ssd chip before going to a baracuda ssd. If using portable- the case is everything. Don’t skimp! buy a thunderbolt 4 aluminum enclosure with a fan. Never experienced heat or throttling problems that way. In an acasis pro enclosure i get a reliable 2800 read and write on this chip!

Bought a 4TB for my PS5 thinking it’ll do a decent read speed. Installed a aftermarket heatsink. After formatting, the PS5 reading lower than expected. i was expecting at least 4500mb. I still think it’s a good value for anyone who wants to expand their PS5 storage.

For those who consider buying it I want to tell you this thing is a trash, if you want to write anything larger than 5GB the writing speed is amazingly 50MB/s, even an SD Card is better than that. Avoid at all costs.

I got this to use as the game drive on my recently built gaming PC. I was looking for a higher capacity NVMe drive that wouldn't break the bank, and this fit the bill. My motherboard (ASUS ROG Z790-E Wifi) has built in heatsinks with thermal pads, so this worked well with the system.
The drive performs well and the temps are good. I recommend it if you're looking for capacity without the premium price of some other brands.
