Crucial’s T500 SSD is their competitive offering in the PCIe NVMe Gen4x4 SSD market, aligning with their new, clearer naming system exemplified by their top-tier Gen5 SSD, the T700. The T500 represents their Gen4 solution, rounding out their product lineup. Enter the T500, equipped with the Phison E25 controller, boasting Sequential Read/Write speeds of up to 7400/7000MB/s. This puts it on equal footing or even ahead of Samsung’s 980 Pro and 990 Pro, as well as WD’s SN850X. Crucial leverages their own Micron DDR4 DRAM and proprietary NAND flash, outsourcing only the controller, giving them significant control over the technology in this SSD. Performance-wise, the T500 excels, I received Sequential Read/Writes of 7400/7000 mb/s + and Random 4K of around 900/700 mb/s. The T500 is a solid entry into the nvme market from a solid brand like Crucial. It has good speeds at a very reasonable price. It’s a no-brainer for anyone looking to give their system a little love and a lot of speed.

Wow ... Wicked fast transfer rates .... So setup was straight forward. Popped off the back of my predator laptop carefully. I used a star bit put the screws on painters tape for temp storage. Gingerly pried the backing off.of the laptop with a plastic prying tool. Removed the old 500 MB secondary hard drive. Inserted the 2 TB secured it with the screw. Reversed installed the bottom cover and booted the PC back up. Windows 11... Went to setup hard drives. Recognized the hard drive. Initialized it and I was left with just under 2 TB due to file allocation info... Went on to test transfer rates... Test folder with file size was just over 12 GB. Micro SD to HD was slow. Probably limited by Micro SD card. But from SDD to SDD... Holy cow..... I was getting almost 2 GB/s. Cover says up to 7.4 GB/s. I did not get there probably because my on board SDD is not rated over 3. FYI. This 12 GB of data is 4K video from my Vlogging camera. So I know there is a lot of data in these files. But my 12 GB of data was transferred so fast that I barely was able to click the mouse and take a photo to show the transfer speed I hit. Opening and playing the video was fine. No lag. No buffering or latency .. I will use this to store my game play data and my video content that I have or need to create using my video software. If you are looking for large storage and fast transfer speeds look no further. Good job Crucial .. I would recommend this product for what I reviewed it for.

These work fantastic . I own 8 of them spread across 5 systems and none has ever given me a problem . No need for exotic heat sink . I use the $5 slabs of pure copper and the temps never get above the 50's . Speed tests are what you would expect for a gen 4 device .

This was a easy to replace the drive in my Dell laptop. The performance is a bit better then the drive shipped with my laptop and the additional storage helps with photos and movies stored on laptop.

I chose the T500 because the nerds in the know on these sorts of things (primarily Nada from Techtesters) said this drive tests as one of the fastest and coolest-running drives around in this price tier. Popped it into my laptop as a secondary drive, and from the (somewhat limited) use I've got from it so far everything seems great. Files transfer faster than ever, temps are cool, and all seems good. Not really much to say on this as a non-techie; if it works well and doesn't lose my files, I'm happy. The last Crucial SSD I bought was purchased about... 12 years ago now? And I *still* use it! So unless I have a catastrophic failure to report, I guess I'm a satisfied customer! :)

Great reading speeds plus i can visually see a difference, the downloads are probably 20 minutes faster on most games to download, but loading up Battlefield 6 is nice and smooth. I used to have a Samsung 800 series SSD, but it was time to change. Super glad I did.

I wanted to upgrade the stock ssd that came with my computer. Being a bit of a gamer I need lots of storage space and prefer faster read times. This ssd is exactly what I needed.

Installed my OS fresh onto it, been working great and is very fast. Have had no issues so far after over a month. I expect it to last. I found the best bang for buck for size I could and at time with sale, this seemed to be one of the top contenders as the time.

So fast. No issues. I have a samsung 980 Pro in the other slot and it is a dog comparitively. Crucial is a reputible company. We have a few of their external drives. An X6 and X10 each. Using them for our our macbook and ipad pros. That was why , when I needed a second M.2, I chose a Crucial. We save a lot of large files so speed is of the essence. Best Buy shipped it in a bag, which is questionable for electronics but it was OK when delivered. No damage to insides and box was sealed with original tape from manufacturer. Fed Ex was late a day with it. Otherwise all good. You will be happy.

The part came as expected with no surprises. My motherboard made it hard to install, but thanks to a robust product, the physical challenges were minimal. I installed as my primary drive and conversion in my BIOS was a breeze. No problems identifying the drive. 1 week into the product and could not be happier.

Fast SSD reaching just below the rated speeds for my build. Decent price for capacity from a reputable brand, bonus being the performance. 5 year warranty. Compatible with PS5, and easy install in most devices thanks to being an m.2 device.

Bought this nvme drive to replace an older Samsung on a laptop. Cloning worked well even though it showed a bit smaller than the original drive. The Crucial T500 is noticeably faster. It has been a few weeks now and no issues. Crucial is definitely a more cost effective alternative to other brand name drivers.

I got this for $140 back in 2024. It since jumped to $170 on black friday 2025 and now $240 now in december 2025. I can't recommend it at it's current price, but if you're able to get it for cheaper; it's the only one with a great controller, manufacturer's self-made cells, and caching. It gives Samsung SSDs a run for their money.
