Customers regard the Espresso Defined Espresso Maker/Coffeemaker as a great coffee maker for its price. They appreciate that the coffee comes out hot, just as it should. However, some customers have concerns about the responsiveness of the touch screen and wish the water reservoir was larger.

Dispite the poor reviews at Best Buy I found great reviews for this machine on ither sites. After a wuick setup and running a few shots of espresso through it to get the "new" out of the machine it is turning out fantastic coffee.

Fantastic product. Before using, carefully read instruction. It works like a charm. I gave 4 stars because of too much plastic components. But for $250, I could not go wrong. Definitely not worth paying full price$1000.

Mildly warm espresso with almost no crema. Milk feature allows milk to be siphoned from your own container using a vinyl tube connected to the brew head section... This machine does not produce foam or any kind of steam... Even using pre-warmed milk, we still have to go straight to the microwave and use a frother to get anything remotely close.
Internally, it's a decent modular design. I think the first thing to go is going to be either the brew unit, because it's made entirely out of plastic, or the electronics (brand new, you go to push the power button and it boots up for a second then shuts off...).
The unit smells a little bit like melting plastic when you make an espresso.
The touch screen is not super responsive, but it's a cute feature that makes it at least *feel* like it's an expensive machine. The unit allows you to program five different drinks, but the custom drinks are based on standard modes. For example, you can "customize" the basic espresso shot to adjust the volume of the shot, so instead of brewing the default volume, it's your custom amount... But you can't program it to brew more than one shot... So it's truly not a "drink" preset as marketed.
I've read the warranty work for these is a nightmare, but I don't have any experience yet. It's made by Panasonic in their European market, so how bad could it be?

I was excited to get a fully automatic machine at this price. When I arrived I quickly set it up, which was quite simple as I previously had a fully automatic from Krups. There’s a tube to plug in so it can pick up milk from your container (not included), fill with water and coffee beans and you’re good to go.
This machine has a few quirks that I would want people to know about if they are coming from a quality machine. Filling the water tank is a bit is from the front of the machine, it works okay, but I would have preferred a taller water tank rather than a longer / wider one. The drip tray is a bit fussy. It sticks to the front of the machine but becomes detached easily, which can lead to messes. The grounds box is easy to empty, except that the grounds have excessive water in them left over from the coffee extraction.
For the price I got this at I would definitely lived with these inconveniences, but I was only able to get a few cups of coffee from it. The morning after I set it up I went to make coffee and the machine would not power back on. I verified the power outlet was working properly and quickly packed it up for return. Bestbuy made the return process easy.

I really wanted to love it, but I returned it. Nothing was wrong with the machine, but it did not meet my expectation. Morning coffee is no jock. I was not loving my morning coffee anymore.
Pro
Coffee come out hot, just like it should
Awesome grinder
Very easy to figure out the operation and use
Coffee strength can be easily adjusted, and it works
Great if you need to make coffee ONLY
Cons
Strength for already grind coffee cannot be adjusted - coffee come out diluted
It does not foam milk well and you end up with latte instead of a cappuccino
The hanging tubing really negates the aesthetic of the machine
Water reservoir is long and narrow and do not contain enough water. you have to add water often in order to keep up with all the cleaning needs.
If you are making a cappuccino or latte, you need a glass with milk, a glass with water for rinsing the line, and another glass of water for cleaning the system. It seems like you are doing a science experimentation on your kitchen counter.
When your turn it on or shut it down you need to have another cup place on the board because the instrument will flush the system and water will drip.
I returned it because for the money I was expecting a wow morning coffee experience. The non-foaming milk and the cleaning experience was a major issue for me. For almost half of the price I bought the Breville Barista and I am in heaven. It is much, much better coffee maker, easy to clean, make the right coffee at the right temperature from both beans and already grind coffee, with perfect foam milk.

It makes solid espresso and all other jazz but it’s a lot of work constantly cleaning it and throwing the extra water out. It takes a couple of mugs to rinse and take the water out. Not worth the $1000. Even at the discounted price I would look at more options.

The EM-1000 was a pleasant surprise. It is not the best fully automatic espresso machine on the market, but for the money; it does the job. Idiosyncratic operation, not the clearest manual, but with a little attention to the details, it does an acceptable job while taking up very little counter space. If rumors of erratic operation have you worried - two words - Geek Squad™ will cover your butt.
Yes, water reservoir could be larger, yes it could use a better display, yes there may be too much plastic; but for the money, it is a decent machine

Pick this machine up on sale and I was very excited about it. For the first few days the machine worked great and everything fell apart right after. The beans compartment was always full but it wouldn’t brew coffee cause it keeps saying it was empty. After few times moving around the beans it would work . The milk comes out warm if you make a cappuccino which we had to microwave the milk to get a good flavor. The tray where the coffee left over goes keeps telling you to empty although there is nothing in it. Anyways, returned and got a Jura 6 that works like a dream.

I don't use the machine to froth milk because I dont want to worry about cleaning, but as an espresso machine, it's fabulous! It may be outclassed by professional models, but for a household machine, its been great so far. Cleaning the coffee parts is also surprisingly easy.

I got this for 250$. I think it is totally worth it for the price. It is making better coffee than my Philips latte go coffee maker.
Only negative i can think of is that it does not start up as quickly as the phlips.
