    Stay Away from CyberPower, Please

Bottom-line is, CyberPower does not make laptops. They buy "white-branded" laptops from MSI or other manufacturers and slap CyberPower logos on it. They knew that the motherboards on several models had the same issue of device powering on/off in a continuous loop without any other fix other than replacing the entire motherboard. CyberPower does not support their products. My laptop broke just after the two-year warranty period ended. They quoted me $800 MINIMUM to fix the issue without a guarantee it would even work after that. I'm in IT, so I tried to order just the part but they refused me there also. Read online about the horror stories about these guys. $1800 down the drain while my 6 year-old ASUS laptop is still going strong. Please, please, please let my warning reach you. Spend a little extra on an established PC maker that is known to support their products.

    Powerful Gaming Laptop

I bought this laptop to update/replace my ASUS ROG. The price point for this was much better for about the same specs compared to ASUS or MSI, so that is what made it most attractive. So far I have no complaints regarding performance, but I have yet to really stretch its legs. I will update the review as I go along. There are 3 big downfalls worthy of mention here. First, there are only two RAM slots on the mobo. 16 gigs is a fair amount of memory, but I was hoping to upgrade to 32gb. Now I have to wait until they release 16gig mobile RAM. Would it have been that hard to put two more slots in there? There is more than enough space. Second issue is heat. As I said before I haven't really put the machine to its limits yet but I am a little concerned about overheating as there is only 1 fan pushing heat out. The heat sinks seem well-engineered and placed; there is a gratuituous amount of space on the innards. Still... I'm aware that this thing has much more processing power than my ASUS and half the fans, and heat problems are part of what led me to buy this beast. So we'll just have to see. I usually put my laptops on a cooling pad anyway, but it would be nice to be confident that this thing won't overheat by itself. Lastly they put windows 8.1 on the machine... I don't blame cyberpower for this but it would be nice if they offered this system with windows 7 as well. This is my first run-in with windows 8 and it's awful, I'm in the process of trying to get third party software that will allow me to mitigate the aesthetic changes in windows 8. Just an aside... I had to wait over a week for this thing to arrive at my local best buy store. I wasn't about to chance something this price sitting on my doorstep, possibly in the rain. Why does shipping an item to a local best buy take a week longer than sending it to my house? Financing earned BB the sale, without that I would have purchased from another vendor.
