Excellent game, with bugs and poor optimization
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Story, gameplay and the world are phenomenal! On new hardware (pc and new-gen consoles) it runs great, although console versions are currently not true new-gen. Last-gen hardware are having multiple problems. Bugs are present in all versions, some minor and others more problematic. Overall, an excellent new IP that needs to be optimized for all platforms and have bugs patched before it can truly shine.

Needed a delay but a great game underneath
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had this preordered since 2018. Finally in my hands and after playing four about 30ish hours I find the game very enjoyable, when it works. I am playing on a ps5 so my game is running better than ps4 version, but this game crashes every 30 minutes or so on average. It crashed my entire system twice, which as it stands is not good since the ps5 is still unstable as is without a game trying to brick my system. There are visual glitches and bugs all over. Thre ai can be bonkers at times. The world itself though is great. Im having a great time playing the game. The story works, the characters are well done most of the time. Some of the story is mirroring my own life atm so some story is hitting harder for me. Would I recommend this as is? Yes, as long as you can stand the constant annoyances stated above. I did not pay full price, and received a cool steelbook for about 40 bucks and I'm still playing the game warts and all. Did this game need to be delayed? Yes, yes it did. My experience has been terrible for bugs and crashes and this is not acceptable. Will I continue to play? Yes, this game is fun and I recommend in about 2 to 6 months from now to play it as intended, but if you are interested in the subject matter and don't mind the annoyances above, buy it. It's worth it.

Just wait until it's fixed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't buy this yet, wait for the patches, which will be out in February. I've lost count of how many times my PS5, yes it runs bad on PS5 as well, has crashed because of this game. I gave up trying to play. Underneath all the bugs, there is something special there. This is a good game. But I can not recommend buying it now, this game should not have been released on console in its current state.

greats story but hard to ignore the bugs & crashes
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've all been waiting for this game for years. Unfortunately cdpr was more concerned about spiking their stock price rather than releasing a finished game, and the end product suffers because of this. Let me say that the story of this game is good and really enjoyable. However, as it currently sits, the games bugs are still plentiful and obvious. cdpr has already promised 2 large patches in the next 2 months, so this game MIGHT be acceptable once Feb's patch rolls out. Would I recommend this game? Yes and no. If you are into large open world games, then yes. But there is a large caveat that your actions really have no result in the outcome of the game (i.e. should you stealth kill or steal knockout? doesn't matter as there's no moral system measuring what you do). Although the city is filled with many people, you can't really talk to them other than "get out of my way." The city itself is lacking any life. And the skill tree... well... let's just say that some of the skills don't matter (and there are also some skills that you can't even do in the game. Seems like there were functions they were planning on adding but decided to remove the functionality from the end product, but left the skill tree option in the game). However, if you are looking for a futuristic game, where you can drive cool looking cars, then you may want to pick this up (although, if you drive too fast, the game will crash. so just don't gun it). At this time, I would say if you do want to experience it, A- wait until after Feb's patch, and see if online community is confirming that the bugs are patched out B- you may also want to wait until it's on sale. I don't know if I could recommend at full price (and there's no telling what the Feb patch will function like).

A good game marred by technical issues
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First let’s start with what the game does right. The missions and story are really good and interesting with great characters. The gameplay is solid and fun. The gun combat is good, but is not quite as good as a top of the line FPS. Melee combat is mediocre, but not bad. Driving feels pretty good also. Now let’s talk about the flaws. This game has a ton of technical issues. I’ve played it for about 25 hrs and it crashed at least 5 times. The frame rate is incredibly inconsistent and dips into the low 10s frequently. I’ve even fell through the map at least 3 times causing me to soft lock the game and having to load an earlier save. The visual glitches are also bad too. Many times textures and models won’t even load, making some scenes way less impactful and less immersive. The physics in this game are also pretty bad. The rag doll physics are very basic and mediocre. GTA V does rag doll physics way better than this game and it came out 7 years ago. Sometimes car crashes cause some funny glitches like cars shooting up into the air. Lip syncing with characters doesn’t always work and some character animations don’t line up properly with the models they are supposed to interact with. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I can go on and on with the glitches in this game, but basically there is a lot and they are bad. The world also does not feel as alive as CDPR said it was going to be. This might be the worst AI I’ve ever seen in a modern AAA video game. There is simply no traffic AI. All npc cars are just following a scripted path. If you block their way, they won’t even drive around you or honk their horns. They simply stop in the road and the traffic will keep piling up until you move out of the way. When you assault an npc pedestrian, all of the other npcs will simply either crouch on the ground immediately and stay there or run away and disappear when you look away. The AI is terrible. It is very easy to take advantage of it in combat by finding areas to shoot where they can’t shoot back or react to you. Also, cops can’t even chase you with cars. They will spawn on you out of thin air and shoot at you the second you commit a crime. When you get in a car and drive off, they just give up. I can’t stress enough how bad the AI in this game is. There is also little to do in the world other than doing missions and looting stuff. The world feels empty and is a big disappointment. If CDPR can fix the technical issues, it will be a pretty good game regardless of the open world and AI. I am sure they will fix the technical issues in time, but this is a huge disappointment right now and will still be a disappointment when they fix those issues because the game is not what it was marketed and hyped up to be.

Buggy? A little. Fun? Yes. Should you try it? Yes!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does it have bugs? Sure. It’s rare for a game to not have bugs. Is it fun? YES! I’m about 60 hours in and cleaning out all the side missions before hitting the finale. I’ve yet to encounter any game/progress breaking bugs. It crashes occasionally, but with the generous auto-save, it’s rarely much of a hassle. If this was a Bethesda game, it would feel completely normal (as far as bugs go), but it’s a testament to CDPR that they are held to a higher standard. I hope they get a chance to work out the kinks because there’s a real gem buried in there. If you have a ps5, xbox series x, or decent PC, don’t pass on this just because of the bad press... it’s thoroughly enjoyable. If you have an OG PS4/Xbox. I might wait until another patch or two. I’ve been playing on a ps5 and it’s fine. I’ve heard anecdotally that last-gen consoles struggle more. But make a note to try out the game someday nonetheless.

Unrealized potential.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What to say about Cyberpunk 2077 what hasn't been said before? The characters, the story, the setting, the world are excellent. It's a shame that the developers didn't take the time to actually finish developing the game, and are still playing catch-up even a whole year later. My personal experience post Patch 1.3 is below: I am personally playing this on a PS5, and because of that haven't experienced many bugs. And the bugs that I did experience were extremely minor, and did not affect the overall enjoyment of the game. However, the bugs that I did experience were so obvious, that anyone who plays this for any amount of time will notice them. Stuff like that simply cannot be overlooked, and must be considered when making a purchase. Without the bugs, this game is an easy 4 or a 4.5/5, but as it currently stands, it's a 3/5 for me. I would recommend this game to anyone able to play it on a PS5, Series X' or a high end PC. PS4 Pro might be doable, but be wary. Everyone else should wait until the game is finished, or just stay away completely. I wish CDPR had given Cyberpunk 2077 a lot more development time, because this game deserves better.

Currently NOT ACCEPTABLE sadly
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Firstly I would like to mention that I am playing on a PS5 and currently at around 30 hours into the game and have not finished as I have been trying to take my time diving into the world. As a fan of CDPR this is clearly not an acceptable product and I would like to warn any consumer that this is a great game that is not finished and won't be until maybe next year. I was never sucked into the extreme hype but I preordered because I am a fan of the game developer and believed they would do a great job. TECHNICAL ISSUES: Sadly this game was clearly not done as the technical issues are incredibly unacceptable. On the PS5 I am lucky that the performance of the game is smooth but the current visuals are clearly not up to par and the amount of crashes and glitches I have noticed is unacceptable. From what I can remember after starting to count, the game has crashed easily at least about THIRTY TIMES! This is extremely damaging for a game that is supposed to immerse you into a "detailed" world, having to reset constantly is terrible. I have also tested the game on a launch PS4 (understandably old but is marketed for) and on version 1.04 the game is still severely blurry and runs below 30fps. Sadly visual and auditory glitches are prevalent on the PS5. (even on patch 1.05) Overall it may be funny to run into some glitches but currently I have noticed the following; HDR is completely broken, NPCs are constantly glitching out, quests don't activate, important dialogue is mute, NPCs walk through objects, missions awkwardly end as some missions are ruined by bugs, save file corruptions, movement bugs constantly, constant crashing and the list goes on. EASILY WHAT MAKES THIS GAME BAD 0/5! STORY/DIALOGUE: As a fan of the Witcher series this was something I had full confidence in being great as they always create well written worlds and characters. Cyberpunk has great writing and its characters are good, but weirdly there are some clear areas of the story and experience that feel cut or not as fleshed out as promised. Trust me when I tell you the main story and a lot of side missions are gripping and high quality, but there are some areas where they made certain decisions that felt off or cut from. For example, (no spoilers) in the beginning there is a bond made with a secondary character that follows a 6 month period that is basically told in a montage and 2 main missions. (Easily either DLC or cut) The game is more linear in the choices you can make early on which contrasts a lot of the marketing. While I have not finished the campaign as I will be waiting for a better technical experience, there is clearly a great foundation and story there, sadly technical issues and failed promises ruin the experience on console. SO FAR THE STORY WAS GREAT BUT MORE LINEAR THAN PROMISED 4/5 MY ISSUE: This game is disappointing but not bad, this might be hard to believe as I have been negative with my review but there is clearly a great game damaged by all the technical issues. Truly I put way too much time into this game in its current state, after finishing the prologue I started to find the technical issues to be unacceptable considering I am lucky enough to be playing on a PS5, when looking at the state of the base PS4 version that is completely unplayable. (THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE THAT ARE RUNNING THE GAME FINE BUT BE WARNED) Aside from the terrible technical issues you have to consider that there are many other terrible aspects of the game. Combat is fine but hand to hand is terrible, driving is hit or miss (its ok for me) and guns are good. The loot system is bad like in Witcher, NPCs are very fake/stupid, police system is a joke, economy is hit or miss, missing character customization features, romances are kind of bad, sometimes lack of choice consequences and more. There are a lot of failed promises that were made so be warned that the current game is going to disappoint if you look at it critically. This is a good game... in a few months. Currently I would recommend you wait if you have a base PS4, if you have a PS5 go for it but be warned of the technical issues and disappointing aspects. There is a lot to hate and love, this is the worst type of bad game, it was clearly not ready and probably could have used close to a year more of work. If you were able to actually read all of that thanks for listening to my little rant lol. It seriously isn't in a good state so please save your money or just know how bad it is for some people.

Works well on PS5 with latest updates
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it in August 2021. I am aware of the bad performance and bugs when it was released. However, playing it on PS5 works pretty smooth. I played it several hours and I only had one bug at the beginning that made me reload the last check point. Not a major issue. Now I am just waiting for the real PS5 update that hopefully enables RT. The story is great, a really different world, it also looks great - although not optimized yet for PS5. The only annoying thing is that it has way too much inventory management - a bit like Fallout. That distracts a bit from the real story.

9 out of 10 for the PS5 version only.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start with the biggest con for this game..CRASHES. The game will crash probably every 90 minutes to ever 2 hours. Sucks big time. Despite that.....I've had this game since launch. Still on my 1st playthrough, Hard difficulty, 132 hours, Level 44, street cred 50, and I still have a crazy amount icons on the map i.e. Gigs. I'm on Act 3 but have not started that mission yet. Here's why it's a 9 out of 10; I'm pretty sure no one expected this large, massive open world city-based game to run off the bat at 60fps only through backwards compat on the PS5. This alone, is absolutely amazing, because it's not even the actual PS5 version of the game! I have yet to see any other ps4 game do this....for example Days Gone, Ghost of Tsushima & Ghost Recon Breakpoint had to be patched to run at 60fps, The Last Guardian is not open world, and God of War 2018 already had a performance mode. The game doesn't have an unlocked framerate on the Pro but yet it runs double and sometimes triple that fps on the "5." The game looks quite good too, not all the time, but most of it. You cannot compare this game at all to say, Miles Morales PS5 version b/c that is an exclusive, compared to this multiplatform game. To appreciate the visuals and for immersion, I'd recommend turning off the minimap, crosshair and button prompts(reload switch weapons, holster). The UI is really blurry and it hurts the asthetic. The recommendations I just told you about helps with that. Now with HDR, YMMV. I leave it on and let my TV do the heavy lifting. The story is the highlight, As are the main character models(#teamPanam), facial animations and the combat/gunplay. To fully appreciate the story do yourself a favor and complete the SIDE JOBS. The "Gigs" are alright but vary in quality, but the SIDE JOBS, whew. The Hunt and Dream On are some of the best video game missions I've ever played and they're not even main story beats! Crazy. You like detective noir? Well this game is like Minority Report and Blade Runner 2049 meets Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Doom and Watch Dogs, with some GTA sprinkled in. Sure, I'm disappointed with things like no aerial vehicles you can commandeer, or a 3rd person view regularly thoughout the game while playing, but maybe they will patch that into the current gen version? Also the economy is a joke. Cyberware items are GREAT but VERY expensive. Apparently there's a trophy to buy all the cars? That's going run you about 1.5 to 2 million. It's not feasible to get all those "eddies" without exploiting Walk the Line or Space Oddity. And you really don't need to buy cars when you can get the fastest one in the game for free(hint, help Panam out after Ghost Town) I cannot speak on the XBOX 1 and PS4 versions of the game BUT out of morbid curiosity I did install the disc version unpatched on a ps4pro. It is visually quite a stark difference between the ps5 version, Like it's running at 800p or lower. Only played that version for about 15-20 mins. So, oddly enough, this game has lived up to my expectations and the ultrahype, with caveats. The crashing every 90 mins to 2 hours sucks! but the quicksave function is a God send. I've only had 1 corrupted quicksave after 132 hours of gametime, and that was after a crash. Save often, and save to the cloud and a USB drive. If you have a current generation console, I'd say it's definitely worth playing. If you have an xbox1 or base PS4, YMMV, or flat out skip this game until you are able and/or fortunate enough to get a current gen console. The game is phenonmenal warts and all, but the technical issues are it's biggest albatross. I'm looking forward to New Game +, barbershops and DLC, There is also going to be multiplayer included in about 18 months time. so this flawed masterpiece of a game is going to be supported for a LONG time.

Good story. Atrocious bugs.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DON'T buy this unless you're playing on a PS5 in December 2020. PS4 support is atrocious. Also, you have to be psychologically ready for the game to crash after every hour or so of gameplay. The story makes it almost worth it, though. The city is beautiful- but it's all backdrop to the story. The city is barely interactive- cars don't swerve out of the way, AI is kind of bad, and nobody cares if you steal things out from under their noses. GTA was doing interactive open-world city better, many years ago. Even The Witcher was better in this regard. But man, the story is wild, and it looks beautiful on PS5, so whatever. Jack in, it's worth it.

Despite all the bugs it’s still a good game!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You know what, this game is getting a bit too much negative feedback after it’s “buggy” release.. I will have you know that I purchased the game for my Old Standard edition PS4 (not even PS4 Pro) and while I admit that the load times were very slow and the game felt clunky and buggy at times / I was able to get through over half the story and spend 50 hours on it before finally grabbing my PS5 and continuing the game on a newer system. Coincidentally - I’ve had more errors running the game on the PS5 than my old PS4 actually, but overall the game performs significantly better on the PS5 of course! I have just experienced more crashes - it seems on my old PS4 there were less crashes and more just slow clunky gameplay. Anyways, besides all the bugs and everything, it is a hugely ambitious game world they have created, and in many ways it is mesmerizing - but I will admit that the AI such as people and vehicles in the city are very unrealistic and actually quite a bit worse than even old GTA games in my opinion. You would think that based on all of this I would give the game less than a 4 Star Rated Review - but hear me out if you’ve read this far - ... it’s fun! It captures my attention and keeps me coming back for more, even if I crash 3-5 times I still come back for more, the story is interesting and engaging most of the time, the game play is fun, graphics are good, it’s overall a captivating experience , and this is coming from someone who usually only spends 10-20 hours on a game generally before getting bored of it! I’m already on like 70 hours of cyberpunk and still having fun without finishing the story yet! So yeah, it had a horrible buggy launch, they have a million promises on updates to make up for it, but quite frankly I don’t even care I’ve been having fun playing the game despite all the negative press it’s been getting.. and as long as crashing a every couple of hours (make sure to Quick Save FREQUENTLY) doesn’t bother you that much - you’ll probably enjoy yourself too!

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hesitant on purchasing this game until the PS5 version came out but it went on sale, so i took the opportunity. Even though many claim the gameplay/quality being overall bad. It works decent on my console. Yes, there has been glitches and crashes but I always save every 15 mins or so that way i don't have to repeat certain parts of the game. I still love it. The only reason I put 4 out of 5 is due to the glitches and crashes as stated before. Hopefully in the near future this gets fix.

They fixed a broken game to an Amazing game!
|Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game released a mess, but they really upped their quality after a long series of updates. The PS4 disk also has PS5 upgrade which is great. The game itself is very entertaining with a great storyline and the performance has been massively improved. Id recommend the performance mode, Raytracing quality mode is great, but a fluid high frame rate is always the best way to play a first person shooter. Great game!

Great game, too many bugs
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Luckily I was able to get a PS5 on release date, so there have not been as many issues with the build, but there have still been some blatantly annoying ones too (crashes, loss of save data, setting issues, visual bugs, etc.) The story is great, but until the bugs are fixed the it seriously detracts from the enjoyment of gameplay and replaces it with frustration. You know it's bad when Playstation is issuing refunds for the game for all you lucky PS Store purchasers, since it is definitely not worth the full retail Day 1 price. For now, it is going into the stack of back log games and will be played once some major fixes are in place. It is too bad...

Cyberpunk 2077 - Underwhelming - 3/5
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: - good story - good graphics and visuals on major characters/settings - voice acting is good - generic FPS gameplay that doesn’t do anything new (both a pro and con) Cons: - lots of cut content - generic gameplay - terrible wanted system, police magically spawn behind you/police can’t even drive cars - massive amounts of bugs/glitches and crashes - side characters and pedestrians have awful graphics - driving is terrible - skill points seem meaningless - no character customization after the intro Wait for a sale. Do not buy at full price. The game is fun underneath all the problems but it’s not a GoTY contender or anything close.

Beware the unseen enemy
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great story and concept but most will feel like they are playing a hidden enemy when the game has one of its now infamous glitches. My 1st playthrough had no less than 30 crashes and if it were not for the autosave feature I am sure this game disc would have made an excellent frisbee Keanu Reeves does an amazing job in this production as the literal ghost in the machine and despite the glitches the multiple storylines keep you imerssed in the game. If you are playing this on a PS4 wait until a PS5 ia available.

Glitchy, but just as much as any other RPG.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cyberpunk has glitches, issues, and a lot of work to be done for it to be the game it promised to be. With this said, there is a game with a great story, character customization and a world where you can play in a variety of ways. Is this a top class RPG... sadly no, but is it as good as any Assassins' Creed, Far Cry, or even Bethesda game I've played, yes.

Nice Experience on PS5
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went into this game with little expectations and I didn’t expect it to be the “savior” of RPGs or gaming as a whole (like some others thought), but I was looking forward to it for a while. Yes, this game most definitely has its issues in terms of bugs and crashes (both of which I experienced every four-ish hours) and playability on last gen hardware (which is unacceptable). However, the actual game itself is pretty darn fun and enjoyable, especially on PS5. Took me about 45 hours to beat everything I possibly could/thought was important, such as gigs, side quests (which are fantastic, don’t skip over them), and the main story missions (a bit shorter than i anticipated but the side quests really develop the main story so they felt like they complimented each other very well). Combat and driving are nothing mind blowing or new but both felt satisfying to me and just what I expected. Lastly, the world alone, aka Night City and its surrounding area, hooked me in and made me keep playing (plus the game being 60fps on PS5 really makes it feel even better). If you’re looking for a pretty good, above average RPG-Open World-ish game to sink your teeth into over the holidays, I would highly recommend taking a trip to Night City and staying for a couple hours!
