Customers are saying

Customers regard the DCS Indoor 720p Wi-Fi Network Surveillance Camera favorably for its image quality, ease of use, and affordability. Many appreciate the camera's night vision capabilities and reliable motion detection. However, some users find the app challenging to navigate and express disappointment with the lack of cloud storage options. The need for a constant power source is also a recurring concern.

I have another Dlink camera (DCS-932LB) that works great. These take forever to be opened in the application to view the feed and one of the cameras never worked. It got added to the account and could try opening the feed, but it would just spin endlessly trying to display anything. Need to return these, would not recommend them to anyone.

The best I can say about these cameras is they work as advertised. They do a great job of catching sound and motion.Setup of one camera was easy. The second camera took a lot longer, because the QR code scan didn’t work. I had to get magnifying glass to read the tiny print device code on the camera bottom and set up manually. Then, it worked just fine. Video and audio coverage area is very good and with very good clarity. What keeps these cameras from being great is: 1. Lack of flexibility of placement because cameras are not cordless, so must have outlet access within 5 feet. This also means you may have an exposed cord and coverage is lost in a power failure. 2. Activity is not recorded automatically, so there is no log to check, if you have had a trespasser in your house. You would have to react to an audible alert on your phone/tablet to manually activate recording, meaning you might be too late to capture the activity. If the two caveats don't bother you, I do recommend the cameras.

If I could give this zero stars, I would. The quality was horrible, the set up was not as easy as the instruction manual made it seem and the app was even worse. They also do not move within the app. I would not recommend.

Had disconnection issues. I purchased a new high-end router and continued to experience bad network issues. Purchased a different brand camera around the same price i paid for these cameras and it worked greatly.

Had issues with setup for both cameras. Setup did not complete in different ways and I had to restart the setup process. In both cases it worked on the second attempt. Cameras are small and can be placed anywhere as long as the power cord can reach to an outlet. I would have preferred a smaller maybe squarish shape rather than the slender cylinder that seems a little top heavy. Picture quality is decent but do notice quite a few artifacts when viewing remotely, might be due to heavy image compression. Found it kind of hard to hear what the microphone was picking up at times a well. Recording can only be done while app is open on the device. Android and iOS only, no Windows mobile. The web interface works nicely but requires a plug-in that will only work on 32 bit browsers on Windows. The cameras are good for a quick and easy setup for casual monitoring but they are limited in the fact that you wont be able to use with other devices or systems and there is no always on recording so they would not really be suited as a security system. You can get an email alert but the motion may already be gone by the time you check the app.

Buggy setup, solid video and features

Pros: - Can disable the camera LED - Remote video (720p) in the app looks great - No monthly fees for live video (it seems like you can connect this camera to a separate device DLink sells for network video monitoring of events - I haven’t test this) - You can enable or disable notifications for sound and motion events - Auto mode for day and night (both day and night views were very clear) - Very small size - Password protection for each camera Cons: - Setup was difficult (One camera was easily added, the other took multiple attempts. Creating an account can only be done in the app, and resulted in error messages that didn’t make it clear what the problem was - eventually I figured out that it didn’t like having a dot in the email address.) - Changing settings often resulted in timeout messages, but the changes did eventually save. - Live view on the website is cropped, only seeing a partial view and you have to install a chrome extension to view the video (better to use the Android and iOS apps). The setup process was a bit buggy but the cameras work well. Hopefully the setup process and the apps will be updated to provide a better experience. I would recommend these cameras - they work well once setup, are very small, and have many features.

We were looking for something to help protect our home. it is very disappointing that it does not auto record when an event is triggered. Limited use more like a nanny cam.

The D-Link DCS-8000LH cameras are unobtrusive and seemingly well built. Performance is nice as well, with good field of view and good video quality in full and low light. Setup should be easy enough using the QR code on each camera and your phones Bluetooth. One note on this, though: I could not complete the setup with my Google Pixel and had to use a family member's Galaxy S7. This may have been the fault of the Pixel as they are notorious for their BT issues, but felt it was important to mention. Beyond the cameras themselves, you must also install a D-Link app and create a account with them. This is where my biggest gripes are. While the app is simple enough to understand and use to view the cameras, and the latency is low, even across and internet connection, there is no ability to create triggers or schedules, so if you want to use notifications for the cameras, you will get pinged constantly while you are in view of the cameras.

These D-Link Mini HD cameras were extremely easy to set up, and do a fantastic job. If you are looking for cameras to keep an eye on stuff around your house, these are a great and inexpensive solution. They have motion and sound detection, and will send alerts to your mobile phone. The setup consists of installing an app on your phone, creating an account, plugging in the cameras, and scanning the QR code on the bottom of the camera into the app. You can password protect the cameras, and they are viewable anywhere you have your phone. You can also access them on a PC, whether at home or anywhere else. The app does have a record feature, so if you get a notification you can snap a still or record video of what’s happening. Also, they work in the dark, because they have Infrared ability built in. These cameras are built strictly for indoor use, but can be used to point outside a window, as long as you put them right up against the glass. If they sit too far back they pick up a lot of reflection. I can highly recommend these cameras for anyone looking for a way to keep an eye on their stuff without breaking the bank.

Would not buy again. Does not record unless you tell it to and if it detects movement by the time you are able to log onto the app whatever happened is already done.
