    DCS-5020L

    I have (5) DCS-5020L cameras that are used for security. All are working fine and I am very pleased with their reliability. Recently I purchased an additional DCS-5020L that worked fine, but I could not view the live video on my IPhone 5S. I contacted the D-Link support hotline for Best Buy Customers and explained the problem. The Customer Support person, badge # AR004277 walked me through, determining that a firmware upgrade was needed for the DCS-5020L, and how to download the firmware upgrade to my desktop, and subsequently upload to the DCS-5020L. This corrected the problem, and allowed me to check to see if firmware upgrades were needed for the other D-Link cameras! I was very pleased with the D-Link Customer Support!

    Good camera - but difficult to install

    Instructions do not tell you that the initial setup must be wired to router before you are allowed to format the camera for wireless service. Also had difficulty viewing the camera on internet. Had to use Firefox to complete installation. Note: The DLINK representative (Aiko - AR004201) was very helpful and able to work through the details to get a functioning camera.

    Happy with purchase and service

    I recently bought this product so that I could check in on my young son when my parents are taking care of him. I love all of the features, including the app that I can put on my phone. The setup went easily thanks to Randy - agent #AR004611. He was very patient with me throughout the 45 minutes that we spent on the phone together. He made sure the camera was working and that I got the app on my phone. It makes my purchase that much more worth it that I got such great help to get it ready.

    Great Service from Randy

    We have not actually used the product so, I am only writting a review on the great service that we received from Randy Case ID C6720764 Randy AR004611 to set up our system. I am sure we will be very happy with the product but the setup was very difficult for someone who is not tech savy. We were on the phone with Randy for more than an hour, 3 computers later we were ready to go. He was incredibly polite, knowledgeable and took the time to work through all of our issues. Thank you for employing someone like Randy and thank you also to Best Buy for the great customer service. Randy & Best Buy rock!

    Weather Underground weathercam/Router issues

    I purchased the 5020L for use as a weather cam. It did not work on my network at first.The problem was that the camera comes with an IP of 192.168.1.1, and my router has an address of 10.0.0.1. To work on the same network, they need to have the same first three numbers. Once I figured out how to modify the IP address of the camera (no thanks to technical support), it started working. After a long telephone session, technical support had told me to take it back to the store because they couldn't figure out the problem. I have two additional complaints. First, there is no way to turn off the IR lights for night vision, so I had to use electrical tape over the lights to eliminate the reflection in the window at night (although night mode is not very effective without IR lighting). Second, the image is not as sharp as I had hoped. I have since bought an HD cam.

    Great camera, great price

    I needed a camera to check in our dog...just to see if anything was being destroyed. For $79.99 at my local Best Buy, this was a no-brainer - even has "listen-in" audio. Took probably 15 minutes to set up. I view on the road or from another room in the house. Fun to use via iPad, iPhone, laptop etc. I had to download a firmware upgrade to the camera for the iPhone 6 to work properly remotely, but that was simple. The directions for accessing the camera via Firefox are a bit different than accessing via Explorer. Pan, tilt, zoom are all cool and overall a lot of fun. 5 Stars

    Affordable and an excellent solution

    I purchased this camera about a month ago to use it monitor my driveway and since this initial purchase I have bought three more! The camera allows you to pan/tilt from your mobile device and does so with very little noise. Works great as a security camera or to simply monitor your pets when not home. Picks up audio making it feel like you are right there. Night vision works without fail and the mobile app allows you to turn the night vision on and off. Set up was simple and look only a few minutes. The cons are that it is obvious that it is a camera and it doesn't offer an option to record to an SD card. Overall this is a great buy at its current price point.

    Great Product

    We purchased this D-Link product to use as a monitor in our grandchildrens room at our house. We wanted a larger view than a baby monitor can give us. Our babies are 26 months and 19 months. We would like to make this room a playroom/bedroom. This Product gives us a full view of the room and also pin point on the crib when needed. We had to experiment with placement of the D-Link to get the best view. We love that we can monitor the device on our IPads and IPhones. Great product - just what we were looking for to do the job for us!!

    Connecting camera to a hotspot

    We do not have a wifi connection, but a hotspot and have had trouble in the past connecting it before. However, this time our employee we worked with was able to help us out in a short time period. He did most of the work and was very patient and helpful. Employee ID#: ar004611

    I was unable to receive a good picture when first connected. The camera had to be updated with D-Link customer service which took a long time to complete. Service representative Lovely, badge number AR004276 was very helpful in resolving these issues for case #c6706140.

    Willaim with their customer support actually surpassed the excellent quality of the camera! He took over and completely set up the camera for a technologically challenged moron like myself and didn't make me feel bad for my shortcomings. Don't hesitate to get the camera and start enjoying it from day 1! If his division doesn't have a trainer he should be promoted, all customer service should be handled the way he took care of me!     I like that camera moves from side to side , up and down.it has night vision.which is great.Quality of picture is blurry,Especially when zooming in.overall it is decent

    Camera is great, functionality is also very useful bit the problem is will go offline and you have to unplug it. It will be ok after that for a week. From app you cannot restart. Don't know if there is a solution.

    I bought my camera DCS-5020 L a few years back and it still doing what it supposed to do. I had to reprogram and had a difficult time. I called technical support and and they were extremely supportive. I needed a second one and of course I wanted the same one this also I had call tech help and again they gave me the best service and did not rush me. WOW this is great customer support thanks again both times case # C6777938.

    Nice camera, not the most user friendly

    I purchased this camera yesterday. The quick install was pretty easy and went without a hitch. The problem came when I went to configure the camera. The online manual had 2 ways to configure, one with the mydlink account and the other through the web interface. The manual had detailed instructions for configuring so that is what I tried to do. The hard part was setting up the email settings. I ended up calling support because nothing I did was working. I was told that the sender, receiver, and account name were to be the same, ie, if the account was a yahoo email account, the full yahoo account name was entered in all three places. For me, it would have been nice if the instructions stated that the three input areas should be the same. I then downloaded the D-ViewCam to use as my viewer, it had more options than just the mydlink account. There were no instructions with this as to how it works or how to configure, at least none that I could find. I did have to call support again because the D-ViewCam kept disconnection from the D-Link camera. The support rep., Marvin AR004612, was very helpful. He had me use a remote access program that allowed him to access my computer to check settings and correct anything. He did change the camera's IP address so that it was a static address and not changing. Hopefully this will keep the camera from disconnecting. I personally don't like allowing remote access, just me being paranoid that even after they are disconnected, they still have access to my computer. I am not a novice at technical things and have installed many electronic items without any problem. I do think that the instructions could be more thorough and user friendly. If I could have installed without having to call customer service, I would have given this a 5 star rating. I will say that both times I talked to customer service, they were very friendly and very helpful

    Product Works - Store Associate No Clue

    The store associate said the camera uses cloud recording and I could review the recording each day when I get home. It works as I believe it should, but it doesn't work as the store associate said it should. I asked on person who told me he didn't know, but would get someone to help, then two guys that were in the middle of a conversation came over and this is the expert advice I received. I have had a lot of patience with Best Buy in Clearwater - but they weren't even close with this one. I can't say I wouldn't recommend the product - but I can say I wouldn't recommend the store.

    ar004211 camera needs updates sin the user manual. It says the wrong computer requirement (needs OS X 10.7 or above for Mac) or there will be difficulties in setting up the camera correctly. On the other end, costumer support was amazing. Fixed the problem and she was loaded with patience in our more than 1 hour long conversation!

    works well, but will not function at night thru a window. Had to have a lot of help setting up. Agent ID AR004648 did an excellent job helping me set up the camera, connecting it to wi-fi, etc.

    Great connected camera that serviced me well. Able to use with all my devices from anywhere. Tech support (dlink employee ID AR004201)was even more impressive after 13months. She walked me through an entire hardware update when I thought camera malfunctioned and within minutes I was back up and running as good as new. Highly recommend purchase due to great tech support if necessary.
