Kendrick refuses to repeat himself, so he moves away from the heavy jazz influence of "To Pimp a Butterfly" and goes for a more stripped down, at times, melodic sound. He is still introspective here, but the songs are more coiled and less conflicted--TPAB was the undeniable soundtrack to the Black Lives Matter Movement--this reminds of his earliest work. It's also often a repudiation of the lame hip-hop his peers are passing off as real deal. More greatness can be heard here.

Kung Fu Kenny has returned with a Vengeance and all I can say is this the best hip hop album of the year so far, and it will be very impossible to beat. From the opening intro this CD takes you on the journey of the mind of this 5 time grammy winning artist who matched Michael Jackson's Thriller with 11 nominations in last year's Grammy Awards. This was well worth the wait and a incredible follow up to the critically acclaimed and ground breaking LP To Pimp A Butterfly.

If you are a fan of hip hop music, this is an amazing album that will be going down as a classic. The whole format of the album and music is creative, deep, and eye-opening. I have never really took the time to listen to his music actively but this album has developed an immense respect for Lamar from me. I highly recommend anybody to buy this album and really listen to what he is saying from beginning to the end, and from the end to the beginning.

If you're a hardcore fan of hip-hop, if you're a casual fan, or even if you just love good music - Kendrick Lamar's newest offering has something for everyone. Definitely worth a buy and more than one listen. Fee rappers (and few artists for that matter) weave a tapestry of sound like Lamar.

Following on the heels of "To Pimp a Butterfly", and "untitled, unmastered", with "D**N." Kendrick Lamar has done something that I don't think any other rapper has, or ever will do, and that is become a genre bending socio/politico/religio cultural icon! Tupac Shakur no! Marshall Mathers no! They come close, but Kendrick Lamar speaks for an entire generation, black, brown, yellow, red, white, it doesn't matter in Kendrick's sight!

Amazing! Once again, KL raises the "bar" in modern hiphop! Similar to his previous two official albums, this one is a touchdown! This album is less jazzy than "To pimp a butterfly" and more bass-heavy than "Good kid mad city." Certainly, several of the tracks on this new album are destined to become your new hiphop fav's! ...I know that they are for me! Buy this album and listen to it loud! I give it a 9.5/10.

Not To Pimp A Butterfly, But Equally Great

King Kendrick continues his reign as the best MC in the game today. D4MN* continues the album excellence set by To Pimp A Butterfly but does so while simultaneously creating its own lane. Excellent production by Mike Will Made It, TopDawg, and others including 9th Wonder. * it's also funny that I can't include the album title because it's flagged as inappropriate language... whatever

Kendrick seems to have a unique ability to transcend both the underground and mainstream polarity that exists within Hip-Hop. It's hard to deny his appeal and each release he drops seems to extend the argument that he is one of best MCs ever to rock the mic. Some killer tracks on this album and the sequencing never becomes dauntaing. Be humble with that soldiers DNA.

Great album! People have their own thoughts and opinions about what they feel or how the artist should be or sound. But it doesn't matter, all someone needs to do is listen. Music has changed, some for the better, and majority for the worst. With that said this album will not disappoint a true Kendrick fan and hopefully there will be more to come soon enough.

The title of the album is also my response to this album. I became a fan of Kendrick off of his album, GOOD KID M.A.D.D CITY. I purchased TO PIMP A BUTTERFLY but didn't like the album as much. This album is different from GKMC because Kendrick is still growing as a lyricist and artist. The production, storytelling, and videos are all top notch for this album!

This album is on point. I seen it out the day it came out by accident. I don't normally by CD'S no more but I had to purchase this ASAP. I'm glad I did. I just wish that CD'S would put the song titles on them so your could see them like they're when you make one a on your own at home. Back to this CD. This is IMO the best Kendrick Lamar to date hands down.

Kendrick makes you think he's out for blood when he dropped Humble but really he just wants to love himself despite all the lust and pride. Yah, he's in his element and yah, he's XXX rated for sure. But he's a loyal Duckworth with the fear of God is his DNA. Guess what I'm trying to say is that this makes me feel like I should be going "d***."

Admittedly, I was not all about Kendrick when good kid, m.A.A.d city came out, until I listened to it. Since that album, all I've had to say about Kendrick has been the title of his latest album. He's amazing!!! And much needed for Hip-Hop I'd say. I like this album and I am ready for the long rumored collaboration album with J. Cole.

Kendrick Lamar dropped another instant classic. I wouldn't put it above To Pimp a Butterfly (which is going to be hard to surpass), but it comes pretty close. It does have a few weak spots, the worst of which is LOVE. But the weak spots don't really detract from the album all that much. Probably one of the best releases of the year!

I'm a music lover, I listen to just about any n everything except hard rock n bluegrass.. This is my 1st time just getting into Kendrick Lamar, but I was satisfied with my selection.. It's got that 90's vibe head bobbing feel but the tone n messages of today. I'm a dirty down south type of rap but this is in my regular rotation..

This album truly is amazing. Great production and everyone knows Kendrick's lyrics can't be beat. This album definitely has a different "feel" to it as compared to his previous entries. Nonetheless I have been listening to this non-stop in my car since the day it was released. All I can say is buy this album!

This album is astounding, the progression of tracks in this is incredible. The modern lyrics mixed with an R&B-ish and Very Modern instrumentals compiles an intriguing listen. If you like Kendrick's old stuff, you'll love the new stuff. My favorite tracks include: 7. PRIDE 11. XXX ft. U2 14. DUCKWORTH
