To me this is by far one of his greatest works of art. The more you listen to it the more you discover and start to understand everything he is talking about. While sure some parts remain a mystery it is a great puzzle to figure out. You will find yourself cycling through every song as your new favorite.

My 5 star review is based on an overall satisfaction level, in listening to his music compared to all the mumbling you hear on the radio, it's better. Compared to his last album it's better. I still think his first album was his best work. But it's always nice when your greatest opponent is yourself.

Better than To Pimp a Butterfly?

It's not as innovative as his smash hit, To Pimp a Butterfly, but every song is amazing. The albums flows together and the lyrics are astounding. I have literally been listening to just this album since it came out! A perfect album by an amazing artist! As good if not better than To Pimp a Butterfly

Great album, best hip hop cd I've heard in a long time. Catchy, well produced beats combined with an artist who has something of substance to say. There's a sense of urgency running throughout the lyrics and delivery. My first Kendrick Lamar cd, might have to check out some of this older stuff.

Lamars insight will prove to be the voice of this generation. Although i stream all of my music, I purchase a physical copy of all K. LAMARS music and display it on my CD rack unopened. One day, my kids will appreciate my thoughtfulness and of course the DEPTH of this album and his other music!

This might be an unpopular opinion I didn't really like To Pimp A Butterfly as much as everyone else seemed to but I really liked Good Kid MAAD City. This album I think is a good mix of what he was trying to do in both of those albums. This is probably my favorite album so far by him.

    Raps Only Source Of Growth

In a world overflowing with recycled nonsense coming & going, mumbled noises over intelligent lyricism, it's so refreshing to hear the rap game pushed & challenged of its conventions. Maybe not as radio friendly, but way more fundamentally creative & inspiring.

I can't really say that I was a Kendrick Lamar fan before purchasing this CD but after hearing humble and intrigued me enough to buy his CD I was pleasantly surprised I enjoy the entire CD and the content that he is speaking of I am very happy with my purchase

Great album it's a turn from the normal Kendrick Lamar album but there's no such thing as normal when it comes to Kendrick Lamar!! A great listen and not too preachy this time just trying to hit you with flows and beats which I can appreciate

This showcases the creativity and passion that Kendrick possesses. I always expect greatness from Kendrick and I was not disappointed. The album tells a story of America today and gives you material to really think about. I recommend this 100%.

This was another great album by Kendrick. The concept of the album was very creative and thought out which adds to the appeal of the album. I'm glad that he used this album to speak on things that we all think and feel but sometimes don't wanna say out loud. Some parts of songs were kind of eh (like the mumbling parts that people are now doing all the new songs), but overall the album is really worth buying!

Definitely quality music. I know now days cd' s are going out of style a little bit with all the new technology but me being a 80's baby I will always purchase cds and this album is well worth the money. From beginning to end is great music.

I'm getting up there in age. I come from the 80's so I have seen the evolution. Truth is it's okay but the fact that I couldn't give To Pimp a Butterfly 7 stars, I am carrying them over here! Not his best but better than the best of others!

He's proved himself worthy of being among West Coast Rap Royalty. The music, in my opinion, is west coast flavor with a pinch of old school soul. Lyrics outstanding! All-n-all, well put together album. By far my fav album so far, this year!

Great beats with lyrics that are thought provoking and tells a story from numerous angles as Kendrick battles against himself at times. I love an album that I can hit play on and never have to skip a song. He makes other rappers look silly.

K Dot has made some inspiring works over the last few years, but this is him at the most emotional and desolate we've ever seen. Some tracks like God aren't a personal favorite to me, but everything is at the quality fans come to expect.

I didn't like the album when I first listened to it. I had the same experience when I listened to his first album but it gets better the more you listen to it. This is a real political hip hop album. Kendrick fans won't be disappointed.

The music has good taste, different from the norm. Then agian, i am a Kendrick fan. Number 6 & 10 are song that stay in my head so i come home & have to play. I still play songs from his previus albums money trees, poetic justice, etc..

From "Blood" all the way down to "Duckworth", i was amazed at how entertaining this album was. Nice features from Rihanna and U2, Kendrick's message is always coming through the speakers and I was speechless. K.Dot is GOAT material IMO.

Kendrick Lamar is by far the best rapper of today's music. He comes with substance and what he's saying actually makes you think about everything going on in society. This album doesn't disappoint. Pick it up and take a listen!
