Customers are saying

Customers praise the enhanced graphics and increased frame rate of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, along with the inclusion of all DLC. Many appreciate the challenging difficulty and substantial amount of content. However, some players found the altered combat and enemy placement less satisfying than in previous iterations.

Dark Souls II on the Xbox 360 / PS3, but better.

This title is the exact same game that is available on previous generation systems, but this one comes with updated graphics, some tweaks to the gameplay systems (mostly good), and all of the available DLC on disc. What's not to love about that? Basically, if you like a third person fantasy dungeon crawler with a sometimes punishing realism and steep challenge get this game.

Love/Hate Relationship.. Where You Love to Hate

I'm not going to give any spoilers here, but this is a frustratingly fun game that you'll love to hate and hate to love. Yes, the rumors are true, it's difficult, but that's part of the beauty. You will get frustrated and want to use your controller as a frisbie. You will quit the game several times out of anger, and swear you're done- but you won't be. I'm not a psychic nor a fortune teller- but it will happen... Trust me. This game somehow keeps you coming back for more, even after you've had your butt handed to you, time and time and time and time (x10) again. If not for the multiplayer aspect, this game would be close to impossible. Those bosses, though. There is some lag and frame-rate drops, but these don't detract much from the overall experience and there's a patch in the works that's suppose to address the performance. This game is a masterpiece and I think you'll hate it- but that's a good thing.

This is Dark Souls 2 with all three expansion packs. The visuals have been touched up and the movement is very smooth. The gameplay is fantastic and if you want a game that you can't easily beat then this one if for you. Each expansion is around the same size world as just the base game. So this is definitely worth $60.

I beat the original game on the PC and it is one of my favorite games of all time. From Software, the developer of this series, is one of the best game developers around and they know how to make an excellent game. I had to buy this remastered version for the PS4 to receive all the DLC that came with it as well.

I am a Dark/Demon Souls vet, and I've also completed Bloodborne (through the platinum trophy). Dark Souls 2 is similar to all of these other games, but is has some key differences: Combat is a bit slower than in the other three games I mentioned. Bloodborne is the fastest by far, followed by Demon's Souls and then Dark Souls (in my opinion). The areas are not as well connected and integrated as Dark Souls - many areas meander and dead end instead of providing multiple paths back to previous areas. This leads to the game feeling more like Demon's Souls (which has a central hub area from which all other areas are reached). The graphics have been improved for the PS4 SotFS release, but they still aren't to the level of Bloodborne. This review sounds critical so far, but I really have enjoyed the game. All of the pros to it are the same as the other games: Difficult, rewarding, atmospheric, vague story, replay value, etc. If you like any of the other games I mentioned, it's worth giving DS2 a shot.

First off the game expects you to read online or in a guide to understand all aspects of the game. It has little to no explanation of it's many features/options. Example, Covenants, durability, Soul Level and Multiplayer. It's very easy to set the game into hard mode (harder) by joining a covenant close to the start of the game. Did this without even knowing. It's also very easy to go to a path you have no business being on at the very start of the game. There is no progression. Normally at the start of games the harder sections are closed off until you get a feel for the game. Not this one. After doing a little research you can find the right path and once you do, the game really takes off. If you learn about convents and MP. You see how to follow the paths and have fun with them. Even with all the beginning flaws this game is great once you get past the hurdle of learning about it's features

If you like Dark Souls or Bloodborne (highly recommend both!) Then Dark Souls II is perfect. For the price, you get so much content, and while its frustrating at times, it ends up being sooooo rewarding when you finally can beat that boss you've been struggling on for hours. Love it.

This looks nice on the PS4 more polished and some changes from the PS3 version. Also has DLC content add to the game. This game is hard but really fun really fun community playing online. Also recommend the original Demon Souls on PS3 and the first Dark Souls...Also Bloodborn on PS4

improved frame rate, graphic enhancements, all 3 dlc packs added in. when you consider the pedigree of from software's souls games on top of the these other improvements, scholar of the first sin is the perfect fit for the gamer who wants unprecedented choice and unlimited challenge.

This game is a step back from dark souls. The original had some very fluid and responsive controls, The boss fights were memorable and the environments were beautiful. This game just doesn't seem to have that appeal. I would skip over this one and go straight for Bloodborne

The game looks great when compared to the original I played on the 360. Problems for me with this game came with the random changes thrown into this game.. enemies that just don't feel right in the new spots they are put into. Anyone who played the original will feel these crude attempts to make a game new. Still a great play though.

If you are a fan of the souls series this is a can't miss version. Looks great, all dlc included, re-positioned enemies make this feel like a new version of the same game you loved last gen. Highly recommended, enjoy!

I played DS2 on the ps3, but when I got the ps4 and heard that the upgraded version included all the DLC, more online play, and a harder difficulty, I HAD TO GET IT! One of my top 10 games of all time!

Never in my life did I ever think I would fall in love with a game that gives zero explanation to whats going on, and how to even play the game. That's what makes the game so great, it doesn't hold your hand, everything in the game is a like a treasure waiting to be found. There's so much hidden lore in the game. Don't be afraid to try this game, it is very challenging, but not impossible. You will die a lot, as well make a lot of mistakes, but you learn from it, and besting a boss and figuring out what to do next just feels very rewarding.

DS2 Scholar of the First Sin is amazing. Tweaked gameplay, all the DLC included, new enemy placement, and upgraded graphics all at 60 FPS make this great game nearly perfect.
