this remake can be considered a separate game. Even though the layout and the items are basically the same as the previous version, the enemy movement and placements make it a completely new experience. Graphics are obviously a lot more gorgeous and movements more fluid since it's on the PS4 system. I would even recommend to players who finished the PS3 version to give this version a try.

Dark Souls is a fantastic series, just know you are in for a challenge. Its hard, but its fair, immersive, deep, and rewarding. Asking for help is built in to these games, so if you like shared, community driven experiences, its an awesome one. If any there was a game that is meant to be shared and talked about among those who play it, the Souls series are those games.

This is an OUTSTANDING port from PS3 to PS4! I'm way into my second PS3 (version) play through (NG+) and the PS4 version is much more refined, more difficult, better visually and plays very differently. If you think you died a lot playing the PS3 version, be prepared to die even more!!! An outstanding addition if you played & loved the Demon Souls/Dark Souls franchise.

I have played every game from FROM Software since Demons Souls except the Scholar of the First Sin edition of Dark Souls 2. Absolutely the best version of the game by far and the graphics are beautiful on PS4. Even if you have played the game before, if you do not have the Crown of the Sunken King DLC or Scholar of the First Sin upgrade, this is a must buy.

This game is amazing they remastered this for the current gen and it may be the most played game right now. If you are familiar with From Software games then you know this will be challenge but it is all worth it the reward of killing a boss you have been stuck on has no comparison.

If you played it the first time the changes are minor and different enough to get you interested in finishing the game again. Enemy placement is so different it changes the flow of the areas. The DLC built into the game is a deal too. Overall be prepared to die.

This game is great, even if you own Dark Souls 2 vanilla. The extra content along with all the DLC(best part of the game) included in this version makes it easily worth buying even if you've already bought or played through DS2 in the past. Still a very active online community as well so no problem getting quick and easy multiplayer going. The weakest entry in the Dark Souls series but still a fantastic game. Definitely recommend a purchase.

I completely played the original version of Dark Souls II on PS3. It was very good, but the new version, Scholar of the First Sin, is a remixed version that makes an already good game great. It also adds the 3 DLCs as well making for the best and most complete version of the game all at 60 frames per second instead of 30.

Once I got platinum for Bloodborne, I was addicted and just wanted more FROMSOFTWARE games, and man, did I get it from Dark Souls 2: SotFS! At first it may seem slower/clunkier compared to Bloodborne, but once you adapt to the gameplay and features, it is like what most people say, it is a game on its own. The challenge and the content of the game is addicting and to me, rewarding. The loading times are fast, all the DLCs included in one package, 60fps, etc....you just can't lose! I just finished the main story-line game and can't wait to finish the rest of the DLCs! After this, I am going back on my PS3 for the first Dark Souls. Note: Some may say the game is kind of "broken" with the durability bug because of the 60fps transition (still waiting for the patch fix to be released), but seriously, I've had no issues with the bug throughout my 200+ hrs of playing. I am not sure why people were having issues hitting dead bodies and walls lol. Also, just because the game didn't have direct involvement with Miyazaki, it is still a unique amazing game. Dark Souls II is as challenging as it is rewarding. The game game forces you to strategize every move you make when approaching a situation/opponent. Dieing in this game is inevitable, but overcoming the obsticles is the greatest feeling. The gameplay and graphics are truly amazing also. I highly recommend

The Dark Souls games mix the best elements of "the golden days of gaming" (high difficulty, deep character-building, etc.) and marry it with astonishing graphics, incredible enemy design, realistic animations, and a macabre dark-fantasy atmosphere to create one of the best series in gaming history.

Fantastic update to the 2014 game. Speedier loadtimes, smoother online gamep[lay and great graphics-makes the game shine. Dark Souls 2 was one of the best games on the last gen, and it shines on ps4. While it barely looks any different, the real changes come with difficulty and surprise. Enemies have changed their tactics and positions. Don't be surprised to find a dragon where there wasn't one before.
