I personally love the original game and this remaster is fantastic. Better frame rate, better visuals, and better game play while keeping the difficulty of the souls series alive. This is a remaster that is well polished and you can tell the developers actually spent time to redefine this game. If you get this game, expect a challenge.

Dark Souls Remastered is the same game that players fell in love with years ago. It has the same challenging gameplay, online system, and brutal game mechanics that we all know and love, all now in Full HD at 60fps. If you haven't tried this game before, now's the perfect time to do it.

Time to play the original! The game still plays exactly like the original but the graphics are only slightly better and frame rates are faster (could have done a better job with this Fromsoftware.) It's the full game with DLC and the price is okay for all the content. It's not a game that you can beat and put down. Tons of content plus the PVP aspect will have you playing for HOURS! When you think you've been there done that, you can switch up your character up and cast spells, miracles, pyro and take on the game a completely different way. I will say that I've built a character using the Black Knight Great Sword that tears it up but you need 32 Strength 18 Dex min to single hand the weapon but wow.... I am using a QUALITY BUILD of strength, endurance, dexterity. You can power through the toughest bosses solo early on including the dreaded duo. Those who have played know. I would highly recommend this game to anyone that likes 3rd person RPG's like Nioh.

The original release of Dark Souls was already highly regarded, but this new remastered release fixes the frame rate issues of the original and offers improved visuals. Blight Town isn't quite as much of a chore at 60fps.

Content-wise this is the same game as the original PS3 version, but it runs at 60 fps virtually everywhere and looks crisp in 4K resolution, particularly if you run it on a PS4 Pro. If you've played the original game, you know every frame counts in this game which makes this a significant step up in terms of performance over the original. Other graphical effects have been added to elevate the original content, such as lighting and water effects that really add to the atmosphere of the game. Light sources like flames stand out like beacons in the darkness. If you've never played the original, take this chance at owning a perfect version of the first entry into the Souls series.

60 FPS Dark Souls 1

Wether this is your first game in the Souls series or you played this back in 2011, there’s no denying that it feels good to play Dark Souls in 60fps on console.
If you’re new to the series this is the perfect starting point. Dark Souls 3 is easier but Dark Souls 1 is far more memorable in my opinion.
The game loads quickly, doesn’t have a huge install size, plays well, and looks better in subtle ways. The differences aren’t going to jump out at you though.
If you’ve already played this game then it’ll be up to you if it’s worth it to buy this version.
Overall, it’s a mostly great game and this is a nice update for it.

Dark Souls Remastered Edition is slightly better than the original in terms of graphics.
Blight town doesn’t have the lag like the original had.
That’s about it, doesn’t really feel like an upgrade.
On the bright side, it does include the DLC also but you already knew that. DLC has some good boss fights, items, and dark magic.
Recommendations:
If you are new to the Souls Series - Highly recommend this game.
If you played Dark Souls but not DLC - Get this game
If you have played Dark Souls with DLC - Don’t really recommend

Dark Souls Remastered is an excellent remaster of a standout entry in the Souls franchise. Those who played the original will feel right at home, and will really appreciate the visual and technical improvements – particularly to Blight Town, which now runs at a butter smooth 60 frames-per-second. However, those that weren't there at the beginning may not appreciate the inferior visuals and general jankiness that later entries have all but ironed out.

Dark Souls has been thrown around as one of the most impactful games of its time, and rightfully so. Nowadays, if a game features third person melee combat against challenging opponents, it'll probably be compared to Dark Souls.
I didn't play the original when it first came out, but this remastering for the PS4 still holds up incredibly well, even compared to modern standards. The framerate was pretty consistent at 60fps, and I believe the Estus Flask shortcut button is a new (but welcome) addition.
The level design is often praised, and for good reason. It was fun to unlock shortcuts between areas and to see how they connected to each other. There's plenty of lore here for those interested enough to dissect it all. The basic premise is simple enough but the focus isn't so much on story as it is on the satisfyingly unforgivable combat. Tough but fair is the idea here, with all the souls you've collected dropped upon death, requiring you to pick them back up if you want them back. I enjoyed having to decide between acquiring new skills, upgrading equipment, or increasing my stats using the souls I'd earned.
One minor note is how powerful dodge rolls are - you are invincible in the small animation window of rolls which can be used to great effect during enemy encounters. This honestly rewards timing more than skill, but I can't complain too much; this mechanic helped me through the game after all.

One of the Best Games I've Ever Played

This game has a reputation for being difficult so let's address that. Yes, from start to finish you will die playing this game many, MANY times. But unlike other games, it's structured so that death doesn't feel like a waste of time--it's always a learning experience. The game is 95% of the time, pretty fair with enemies' abilities being fairly clear. As I died, I could almost always pinpoint exactly what mistake I made that caused it. Death is also a challenge to get better, as you make your way back to the site of your last death to reclaim your Souls (money /EXP). It's a brilliant system that feels absolutely amazing when you get it right.
Gameplay-wise, it's a solid action title, heavy on exploration with an amazing, interconnected world. As a fan of Metroid I was very pleased with the similarity there. Many weapons have their own unique moves, pros and cons which makes experimentation fun. Performance on my regular PS4 was excellent, 60 FPS almost all the time, which is very important in a game like this.
Graphically, this is visibly an up-rezzed last-gen port with no major additions, but I think the lower price point reflects that. I never played the original, but I gather this runs much better and has a more robust online community. If you're interested in the series, this is absolutely the place to start and I hope you won't let the game's reputation scare you away. Just try it out at your own pace and you'll be ok. Praise the sun!!

Coming from a mainly console player, playing a Souls game in 4k 60fps is great. Having a revived online community is nice (the amount of bloodstains in some areas can be ridiculous but lets you know there's some real trouble haha). Holding Down on the D-Pad navigates immediately to the Estus flask and it's helped out here and there. But mostly this is just a prettier version of the same game. Not necessarily a bad thing - the level design, combat and boss fights are still superb. But they could have done more with this remaster. If not new textures, at least more QoL changes.

I loved this game when it was first released. The game is fun and not as difficult as the community makes it seem. There is a lot of pattern recognition and memorization of character and monster animations. If you have friends who play the game can be quite fun but if you are like me and solo most of it it may be best to turn off the online features.
The games multiplayer is not to balanced, which I honestly forgot about jumping into this game. Starting a new game and progressing into the first area I kept getting invaded by people who can one shot kill. To picture a level 5 vs a level 40 (and higher judging by the armor and weapons/spells they used) who has spells will destroy the whole area where I stood.
While I am sure as a whole the community is good there are individuals who will message and harass players out of the game, so be wary if you have a shared account or family members who may read messages.
The music is nice and the graphics are okay, slightly better on the current gen system. But there are still some glitches and camera errors that can kill the player or allow them to bypass a chunk of the game.

Like the original, Dark Souls is still hard as ever but it was still a blast to play even for a second time.
Compared to the original game, the graphics remained relatively the same but the frame rate noticeably improved, so it lagged less overall. In addition, one gripe I still had with the game is that sometimes summoning someone else can lead to a very strong player appearing and wiping areas free of enemies. Other than that, which is optional too, this game still proves to be a lot of fun many years later.

You will die, alot! There is no pause, you will repeat the same actions, over, over and over again. You will lose countless souls while trying to regain them, for if you die before getting them, thier gone baby gone. Once you achieve a combat rhythm you will start to feel more comfortable, just in time for the games so called low level enemies to hack you up and cost you thousands of souls. Keep at this game. I am a lv 30 warrior, and have yet to ring either of the bells from the beginning areas. However I enjoy this type of game and enjoy the difficulty. If you’re a fan of either, give this one a try. You’ll either love these types of games more, as i do or drive yourself nuts playing it until you do.

What a difference seven years and a new console makes. Same OG Dark Souls with enhanced graphics and in 60fps. If you're a Souls fan, this needs to be in your collection. Now you can have all 3 Dark Souls games (and Bloodborne) on PS4. Now we just need Demon's Souls Remastered.

This is a remaster version of dark souls. It is good, if I didnt already have it, I would buy it all over again. It is fun and challenging. Dont play with your wife in the room because she will talk to you and distract you and you will die and lose all your souls.

Decent HD-make, but sadly they didn't give it the Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin treatment. Meaning that this is the same game you played last gen just in higher resolution and framerate.
If you are a fan then I think it's worth it just for that alone but if you are new then this is a great place to start the Soulbourne series.
If you were not a fan then this won't sway you.
Get it.

The soul franchise is well know for its difficulty . However, if you take a look back to the game during 1980s, it is almost the same. Dark souls need some strategies and practices. Also the art is very attractive

This series is my favorite game series of all time. It's hard to explain without just regurgitating what every other review has said so I'll keep it simple.
1. This game is a remaster and it does that job well - not as well as the PC version with billions of mods - but well enough for a console.
2. The gameplay is not flashy - it is consistent. It is fair. The game is always trying to teach you to play it better and it does not accommodate players who refuse to learn. It does this by creating a set of rules and following them to the letter.
3. The world and atmosphere are beyond anything else. This world feels like something that could truly exist. The atmosphere makes it feel like a world that is dying. It has moments that offer an amazing experience for any player willing to experience them.
