One of the most visually beautiful movies I've seen which is saying a lot considering it was made in the late 70's. A few parts of the movie (opening scene) remind you it's an older movie but about 5 minutes in you forget. And what girl doesn't like a movie with a young Richard Geer? Sam Shepherd is great as always. Spoiler alert here but don't except a warm and fuzzy happy ending if you've never seen it. It's a drama after all.

Just like everyone else says, this is an absolutely stunning film. The cinematography is outstanding in it's use of natural light (the film is largely shot during dawn and dusk). The story is absorbing as well and is told largely through voice over narration of one of the characters. It's definitely not a fast movie but if you're in the mood to be absorbed by it's beauty than it's well worth the time

This Criterion Blu-Ray is essential for anyone serious about American filmmaking. Terence Malick at his best, creating what may be the masterpiece of cinema. Heartbreaking, beautiful and poetic evocation of turn-of-the-century United States heartland. Plus Sam Shepard rules.

This is surely one of the most beautifully-filmed movies of all time, and the blu-ray is an excellent representation with some very good special features about the making of the movie.
