I was both excited and leary of Once Upon a Deadpool when it was announced. On one hand, with as much as Deadpool has become visible, my 5yr old wants to know more and see the films. On the other, as a big fan, and having seen Deadpool 2, I wondered whether it could truly make enough changes to justify being re-released, while also keeping enough in to even make the film comprehensible with the necessary edits. It ticked every box imaginable and moreso. My 5yr old son finally felt like he was in on something he wanted to see, but couldn't, and the new scenes with Fred Savage were true LOL moments. With the joys of the movie itself, there are a few negatives: First, the only true minus about the film was the curious choice to edit down the electrifying of Juggernaut- power cord, meet Juggernaut butt. It was so brief and tame in the original film and truly only hinted at, to see it gone, especially at a PG13 film, where you're guaranteed to get a laugh from the kids, this was an odd choice. Second: having seen the movie in the theater, I was shocked that among the mid-credits and post-credits scenes, the brief, but touching tribute to Stan Lee that ended the credits was simply not included. Extremely disappointed. That scene brought a tear to the eye in the theater, so its lack of inclusion here is just disappointing. Lastly: you're getting a barebones blu ray (at a barebones price) but ANY kind of extras would have been appreciated, even if it was just the aforementioned Stan Lee tribute. But, what would have been REALLY appreciated? Some behind the scenes of filming the new footage, editing of the film, and even a separate intro by Deadpool, welcoming new fans. There was a bunch that could have been done in this unique re-release in filmmaking. That said, with the Deadpool almost yearly double-dip on his films, I wouldn't be surprised should this be re-released soon with extras and this was pressed simply to get it into hands quickly. (Honestly, this was delivered to our home less than 3 weeks after seeing it in the theater). Overall, this remains a fun film, one that has surprisingly kept its spirit despite the almost mind-boggling amount of edits necessary to get it the lower rating... especially considering they may have erred on the side of caution a bit much in the Juggernaut scene. The lack of extras and loss of Stan Lee tribute is disappointing, and perhaps something restored in a double-dip, but for $15, the risk is perhaps worth it to add to your collection and take a chance, especially if you have a younger one that has had Deadpool sensory overload by the massive campaigning, but kept from seeing the films by their youth.

    Pros....and cons.

This succeeds in what it brings. It is a lower rating, check. It has an amusing meta shtick with the inclusion of Fred Savage and the Princess Bride format, check. You get an unusual release to add to your collection or inspect the merits yourself as a novelty, check. The cons are everything else. PG13 is not the best version of Deadpool. The violence looks unusual. The pacing suffers. The sequence suffers. Much of the charm evaporates from the original portions that the Savage sections, despite being very good, can't do enough to replace. If you're buying this to give someone a early impression of the Deadpool films it's odd for that to begin with the sequel film and I'm not sure it would be a better outcome than simply having them wait till they can see the first film properly. Idk. This is not the best version of Deadpool 2. It is A version of Deadpool 2 and if you're in it for what makes it unique than you'll likely enjoy it. At least for those things. Im happy with it. I would recommend the classic Deadpool 2 or Super Duper Cut version before this if you've got no copy of the film. Add this one after. Enjoy

    A Fun Gimmick

Let’s get something out of the way right now: This is not a hugely different movie by any means. The only added content are roughly 7 or 8 scenes of Deadpool And Fred Savage intercut between heavily a edited version of Deadpool 2. A lot of your favorite jokes have either been significantly toned down or completely eliminated to achieve the PG13 rating needed for this release. Ultimately, the only thing that makes this cut worth seeing is if you really enjoyed the Fred Savage bits. As a whole, the blu ray itself is very bare bones since it only includes the movie and no special features or commentary track. It does come with a digital copy, which is always nice for the folks who like having both. Ultimately, I would say unless you’re a hardcore completionist who likes having every version of a movie, you can likely skip this version as I do ultimately feel it weakens the movie overall. But if you’re a fan of The Princess Bride, Deadpool, and want a more child-friendly version of the film so you can safely watch it with younger kids, then this is worth picking up. Just be aware that all you’re getting is this version of the movie, no special features, and that’s pretty much it.

It was funny, but I don't feel that they should have charged the regular price for an edited version of 'Deadpool 2', with added in parts done in the style of 'The Princess Bride'. I feel like this version of the movie should have been released with the original movie, in an 'Ultimate Edition' combo box set or something. Look at the 'Logan' movie. There was a theatrical version and a 'Logan Noir' version, which was two complete copies of the same movie in the same box set. I watch a lot of movies, and I've seen some where you had to pick which version of the movie you wanted to watch, before you watched it, like the theatrical version or an unrated version. And to me, this movie seems like it should have been on the Deadpool 2 disc, as an edited version of the movie. ...It kind of reminds me of how game companies come out with video games one month, and two or three months later, they end up dropping DLC for people to buy, to add on to the game they just bought, which that content should have already been added to the game before they released it. I know why they do it though. Its an attempt to pull in more money. I feel that thats how this movie came about too.

This would be a 5 star review if this bluray had bothered to include the Stan Lee tribute which screened in theaters. That component is nowhere to be found on this. Other than that, the movie itself is a fantastically funny PG-13 version of Deadpool 2. It is much much toned down VS the theatrical and super duper cut with regards to violence. They dropped the F-bombs but still have a fair number of swears. Gone is the blood in most instances. All in all, if your younger kid wants to see this movie but you, for whatever reason, think blood and the F-word are going to make them a delinquint, this is a fairly safe bet. If you're a complestist for the Deadpool movies or Deadpool franchise in general, you've already bought this!

If you're any kind of Deadpool fan, you're going to enjoy this very PG-13 version. It's actually more fun to see how they edited the movie in order to make it a lower rating and there are a few moments where the movie is very aware of this issue... breaking the fourth wall in the process. This movie could also serve as a way to show what happens when Hollywood doesn't allow for full creative freedom for the director to film it the way he/she intends, ultimately leaving out plot details and even entire scenes that would make more sense with just a bit more filming. The movie was also a fund raiser for cancer research, so I felt good to support that.

This movie decided to see how well they could do without the R rating but with a PG-13 one. They got rid of some of the language and violence that gave the movie the R rating but inserted new scenes with Deadpool and Fred Savage riffing off each other. The scene between the boy and grandfather in The Princess Bride now has Deadpool instead of the grandfather. The movie isn't as good with all the edits but the new scenes were funny so that made it worth it to me to see it.

About 10 Minutes of New Scenes

The target audience for this film are people that are die-hard Deadpool fans (this includes me) that want to see the new content with Fred Savage and Deadpool, or for parents that want to show their kids a more "family-friendly" version of Deadpool 2. In the end, this film is a cleaner version of Deadpool 2 with about 10 minutes of new scenes added. These 10 minutes made the purchase worth it alone, but don't expect much else from this release.

Cleaned up version of dead pool 2

If you have younger children but didn’t want them to see dead pool 2 this is perfect. Not to watered down to bore others. The f bombs are out and not as sexually explicit. The movie is twisted around into a bed time story resembling the princess bride. Fred savage reprises his youth roll with dead pool as the story teller. Includes new special features not on original version of DP2. With a nice tribute to Stan Lee also.

Such a fun movie, my wife and I have seen the original, and this one is fairly close but for the first 15 minutes a lot of the context of the story is lost. The rest of the movie was great and not hard to follow!

theatrical, unrated, and now this version. All very funny and neat to see different comedy at the same moments. As for PG-13 this is a hard PG-13 there is enough in here to make you cringe if someone even at 13 is watching it with you. The blood is gone the language is gone put the crude humor. But the baby maker and small legs comments are stil included. Still worth owning. The Fred Savage parts are funny as "beep"!

"Once Upon A Deadpool" is the PG-13 version of "Deadpool 2" with most of the graphic violence and the F-word removed to make it a little bit safer for 13-year old kids to watch! If you are a fan of the character (like I am), then this is worth adding to your collection, even though they could have included this version with the first Blu-Ray release of the film! The back-and-forth storytime segements with Deadpool and Fred Savage are definitely worth the price of admission alone!

I've been a Marvel fan for quite a while, and Deadpool hit all the right notes for me. About time there was an R rated superhero. That said, even though 'One Upon' was PG-13, for those of us who grew up with (or had children wo grew up with) The Princess Bride, this offers a rather humorous take on Deadpool. Don't get me wrong, it's still raunchy, and likely not fit for younger viewers, but you can watch it with your teenagers without TOO much embarrassment.

An emotional movie that is very funny. I loved Deadpool 2 and this one is even better in my opinion. It’s still not cleaned up enough to watch with young kids, but probably okay for teenagers. The bits with Fred Savage actually had me laughing a lot, and had a lot of funny jokes. One of my favorite Marvel movies and makes joking references to the main MCU, implying that Deadpool might someday be in the word of Avengers *screams in excitement*

As a big fan of both Deadpool films, it was always frustrating not being able to share the character and those films with my son, who is far too young to watch. So when this version of the film came out, I was excited for him to get to experience the character - even if he didn't understand all the jokes or The Princess Bride references. Once Upon a Deadpool is actually a terrific family film for those who are into all things superheroes.

Once Upon A Deadpool is a scaled down Deadpool 2 without some of the more graphic material. It still holds up and features Fred Savage in a setting reminiscent of "The Princess Bride". Deadpool is reciting the story of Deadpool 2 to a unwitting hostage(Savage) who warms up to the story as it progresses. There is the same element of over the top humor presented. This version is very funny in it's own way and worth seeing.

The original version of this film was excellent, this is still good with funny banter between Fred Savage and Deadpool occasionally. Sure it's toned down in for, but still plays out funny. It is a bit of a cash grab, sure, but hopefully got a broader audience to watch it. I felt it was worth adding with the original 2 films.

It's all the Deadpool you'd expect with a lot less gore, only a few dirty words and a heck of a lot more Fred Savage! We loved the original and will admit we only bought this to see the new scenes...and they did not disappoint. Perfect for any Deadpool fan who might want a little more family in their family movie.

So this is actually a family friendly version of Deadpool 2 so don't be fool thinking it's a entirely different film. The only thing different here is that there are cut scenes between Fred Savage and Ryan Reynolds, not to mention everything they cut from the film in order for a family friendly version.
