Deadwood the movie, picks up years later from the HBO series . All characters are sadder, wiser and more grizzled as you would expect of the times they lived in and the character studies of those who didn't merely experience the future, but rather manifested it. Thoroughly enjoyable study of people who may have breathed life into a mining town prior to the turn of the last century. Highest recommendation! All actors turn in stellar performances, I may watch this two or three-hundred times!

If you were a fan of the tv series you will like the movie.

Easier to watch than the series as was not as crude, violent or or unnecessarily sex oriented. More likely closer to the true history of the times. As to recommendation to a friend, it depends on the friends and whether or not they have children who would be watching it

A great way to put finishing touches to a great series

It was a good movie and great to see the cast together again. It could have been better as closure for the series. I wasn't satisfied with some elements of the movie such as Swearengen in this movie. Overall I liked the movie.

When I heard this follow-up film was being made.... I could not believe it. Yet, here is is; the return to Deadwood the fans had about given up on. The town has grown..the times they are a-changin`.. But Swearingen is still swearing, and Bullock is still a fast gun. it would be a...Calamity...to pass this up.

this movie took way to long to be made. missing one very important character...cy tulliver played by Powers Boothe... who passed in 2017 nice ending to the show but as stated in the opening line...TOOK WAY TO LONG TO MAKE... watch the seasons 1-3 before ian mcshane and timothy olyphant were the stars of this show

Its been a long time since it was over. Too much Calamity Jane, Not enough Mr Woo!! Just not really happy with this ending.

If you watched the TV series (who didn't?) you'll love this return to Deadwood and all the characters who are as real as they come. Many swear their way through life and it seems so plausible, you'll be sure that's the way it was in the real west. Enjoy!

seemed like they tried to hard to get pronounciation of words time sensitive, Seemed like they were reading a script where diction was more important than a good performance, was wonderful that it gave closure to a series that should have never ended.

Everybody who liked the original series, including David Milch, creator of the series, was disappointed by the premature ending after only 3 seasons. This movie, which easily could have been a 4-6 hour mini-series, was a very nice way of wrapping up the lives of our favorite characters.

Couldn't wait to see the next chapter in the Deadwood series and would welcome more...but will settle for this fine movie that continues the drama and well built characters that HBO established from the television show!

Fans of the show were caught off guard with the sudden cancellation of the series, so this movie is a welcome conclusion that doesn't just pay fan service but wraps things up in a satisfying way.

Remember to pick this up along with the series, are you'll be left wondering and wanting more. I wish they had more series

The show has great characters in the movie. You must watch first 3 seasons to enjoy the movie. The blu ray transfer is great, you can see all the details of the sets and clothing.

We were DEADWOOD fans from the beginning and were very upset when the series was cancelled. This movie brings to conclusion the storyline and was very well done! Really enjoyed it.

I am so glad that they decided to and were able to get everyone back to finish this story this was the perfect way to end the series must have if you liked the show

This summer we went out to Deadwood for a trip. After visiting and seeing all the history I decided to buy the series to see how Deadwood was formed.

Huge deadwood fan. This movie was a great send-off for a show that ended too early. Acting is superb. The blu ray looks vastly superb to the streaming version.

Those expecting the intricacies of a season of Deadwood might be disappointed, but it is still a fitting end even if they did throw historical accuracy out the window. Be glad that it finally happened.
