I was really looking forward to seeing how Bruce Willis would pull off such an iconic role that was originally played by Charles Bronson. It was just an okay remake. Not sure it was enough to spark a sequel.

Bruce Willis has done many action movies but this one wasn’t anywhere nearly as good as the original or his Die Hard movies. Probably ok if you haven’t seen the original and looking for a modern storyline.

This is not the same story as the original Death Wish with Charles Bronson, but the premise is similar. After Dr. Paul Kersey's is brutally assaulted, he decides to fix a problem the police cannot resolve because they are constrained by the law. Vigilante justice is the method he chooses. This could have been a much better movie if the studios had allowed a rewrite of the script requested by the actors. The result is that the original version was better. It is hard to compete with Charles Bronson. If you enjoy the Death Wish franchise, start with the Bronson versions.

This movie was a good remake of a classic Bronson death wish, but it was not as brutal or cold as original series was, needs more violence and killing for next one hopefully they will.

We didn't expect much out of this remake of the Charles Bronson classic. So we were pleasantly surprised by this film. Good story and acting. Sufficient action and drama.

A great remake of the Death Wish movies; in my humble opinion Bruce Willis is great and plays the role with his unique acting style. The movie plot is excellent with the story becoming very real with todays real life crimes that affect people at an unexpected part of their life. Sad how awful crimes still are very prevalent in society today, and as much if not more than before. This movie will not disappoint you if you like action movies with high quality acting, directing coupled with a very well written story/script.

Dr. Paul Kersey (Bruce Willis) is a surgeon who only sees the aftermath of his city's violence when it is rushed into his ER - until his wife (Elisabeth Shue) and college-age daughter (Camila Morrone) are viciously attacked in their suburban home. With the police overloaded with crimes, Paul, burning for revenge, hunts his family's assailants to deliver justice. As the anonymous slayings of criminals grabs the media's attention, the city wonders if this deadly avenger is a guardian angel or a grim reaper.

If you're a fan of the original film it's best to not compare because other then the names it's a completely different film with loads more violence.

Do you consider it a remake or a fresh movie?

When the preview trailer was shown before the actual release people argued it was a remake & some thought it was a fresh new modern movie. Regardless of how you think of it a remake or new it had an actual present day feel. I think if the original one with Charles Bronson was too graphic then you might actually enjoy this one if you're a Bruce Willis fan or if you want to make you own judgement on it being a remake or a fresh movie.

Bruce Willis takes the reins from the late, great Charles Bronson is this brutal but enjoyable remake. Bruce is a law abiding citizen who suffers a tragic loss when his family is attacked during a home invasion. He changes from life saving ER doctor to a cold as ice vigilante dispensing street justice to the lawless while tracking down the thugs that attacked his family.

It was entertaining and same time it offered some funny scenes. The story is well adapted for Bruce Willis and the running time was perfect. It's a fast paced thriller with lot of suspense. This was a competent, paint-by-numbers, vigilante revenge flick. Bruce Willis is believable as an older man who wants to kill the scum of the earth. Writing, pacing, direction are all good. There's even a nice pro-second amendment message woven into the finale

Ok, Bruce Willis. Need I say more? It's a really good movie, worth more than 4 stars. On a 10-star scale, I'd give it at least an 8. You're rooting for him to kill, what else you wanna know? It's a "remake," but new-ish, so don't watch the original Bronson movie and compare them. The script comes up with great ways to cause maximum pain to the maximum jerks and criminals in the movie. I was definitely cheering for Bruce!

As a Charles Bronson fan and a fan of Michael Winner's 1970's films the original Death Wish is a classic genre picture. Eli Roth's take is an excellent updating of the original story. With the advent of cellphone technology, GPS tracking and the details we store in our phones carefully woven into the familiar plot. Bruce Willis and cast are excellent, this isn't high art it's a great popcorn movie. Not a lot of special features but it's the movie that matters.

Always enjoy a Bruce Willis movie but Death Wish is better than some of his others. I like having my own library of movies rather than the obligation and cost of streaming services. I wish Best Buy would offer more movies and music in the store as I usually am not sure what movie I'm in the mood for, when shopping on line.

I am a fan of the original. This movie is a current day update and is good. The only problem I have with it is Bruce being able to purchase a fully automatic weapon without having to go through the 9 to 12 month process with a very thorough background check, endorsement by local law enforcement authorities, paying the $200 tax stamp fee - not to mention the ten to thirty thousand for thevweapon.

I'll keep this short, no spoilers: This re-imagining of the story of Paul Kersey and his becoming a vigilante is done justice in this remake. You simply have to see it, the violence is just and swift and necessary. Even the ending is satisfying, albeit in an unexpected way (again, no spoilers). So go get this movie and have fun!

The Bruce Willis version of DEATH WISH does an admirable job from the five films Charles Bronson did between the 70s and 80s. Both versions want the bad guy off the streets and do so in their own way; Bronson as a straight shooter, while Willis is more methodical and calculating in his approach.

This is a positive remake of an old classic by the same title. They changed the story, but retained the message. Of course, they went a little "Hollywood" and over dramatized with fully automatic weapons and such (ridiculous), but, overall... an entertaining and truly American movie with a powerful message about self-determination, self preservation, personal responsibility, love, and family!
