I talked myself into buying these "elevation module" speakers designed specifically for the Dolby ATMOS decoding and playback channel in movies produced for that source. They also fit perfectly on top of the BP8060ST super towers I was purchasing. Once I heard the difference with and without these add-on speakers I was sold on the benefit of that added piece. The theory behind these is that the drivers are pointed up at the ceiling at a slight angle and then the sound is reflected off the ceiling and comes toward you from above. It is amazing when you hear the channel in a movie when there is rain or planes flying from the foreground to the background. Since they fit right on top of my towers, it was a no-brainer for me. I am glad to have spent a little more for this piece that has always been missing in my listening experience. If your ceiling is any higher than about 10 feet the effect will be slightly diminished but still there.

I purchased these speakers for my older Definitive Technology towers from about 6 years ago (model BP 7006 Bipolar). These towers are only 11.5 inches deep and the ATMOS speakers here are 13 inches. I stuck some rubber feet under the base of them based on a recommendation from an online review I read somewhere else. I used rubber feet from a company named Isolate It (go on Amazon and look up Sorbothane Hemisphere…I used the 1" with 50 durometer). They stick great to the bottom and I can tell you that I have had my towers rocking out with the internal subs kicking and these top ATMOS speakers haven't moved or even come close to falling off at all. Of course, not many ATMOS enabled movies out yet (VUDU steams some titles). These speakers wee originally $500/pair and have recently been cut to only $300/pair. If you have reservations about getting them because you don't have the BP8060 speakers that they should attach to don't be afraid to try them anyway. Get those rubber spongy feet I mentioned and you will be fine.

I purchased the 8040s and loved them so much in my second audio system, I decided to pull the trigger on the 8060s. In my case, bigger was not better - in my home office, the 8060s were huge and just not as enjoyable as the 8040s... However, once i put them out in my large and open loft, these babies sang! You definitely need the breathing room. I started a home theater up there and right now am using an XBOX as my front end. CDs sound great (and I'm an analog guy...). I purchased the A-60 extensions as well. I will be moving to an ATMOS capable receiver soon. I really can't say enough good things about Def Tech speakers.

Good sounding speakers when playing music through them. Have these sitting on top of my front floor speakers for now. Dont really hear a difference with Atmos movies. Will have to relocate speakers to see if there is a differrnce.Lack of Atmos movies doesn't help either

These speakers seemed to make sense in theory. Reasonably priced way to get atmos without tearing the ceiling out of my theater room (and causing marital stress!). The down side is that I can really hear very little or no difference in sound quality. I'm wishing now I'd gone instead to a receiver with 11 channels to get more depth by adding an additional from Chanel. No hit on definitive. The speakers are iof high quality and sound great. I think atmos may prove to be a short lived sales tactic (like curved hd and 3D screens...yes I bought into those too).

Put these on my 8080 super towers since I have vaulted ceiling in my home. They sound great and project sound as if coming from a speaker above. Good sound quality with lots of power. Driven by a Pioneer SC-91

I love the idea of having sound bounce off the ceiling to enhance my surround sound experience. Great speakers and a no brainer when you buy the other def. tech speakers.

Great addition to the Def Tech 8060ST speakers. Sound fantastic and a great enhancement to the movie experience.

These Atmos modules look and sound great if you have an Atmos receiver and Atmos Blu-Ray movies. Hopefully the technology will catch on.

Products are amazing when listening to dolby atmos there are few surround sound systems that can compare

The A60 speaker modules are intended to be used as height speakers in a home theater setup and also intended to be mounted on top of the DT bipolar floor speakers. They have two speakers pointed upward at an angle that are meant to project the sound upwards to a ceiling no higher than 10 feet, which will then bounce off the ceiling to your approximate listening area. You will need a source DVD that has the Dolby ATMOS track on it in order to get the specific source signal for these modules. But when you do, with the right movie it adds a sense of realism you've never heard before. Because the sound is bounced off the ceiling, there is a slight delay that only helps in producing a phased result and is pretty awesome for scenes that have sircraft flying past or scenes with rain or other weather effects. Well worth the investment!

I purchased these speakers thinking that they would avoid me having to put holes in a sheet rock ceiling for Atmos enabled sound. But their ability to "bounce" sound off the ceiling to simulate a real ceiling speaker is very marginal. For now I have actually attached them to the wall above my regular front speakers and so they can serve as height speakers. If you want the real effect of ceiling speakers I'm afraid you have to put real speakers in the ceiling. So now I am waiting for Auro 3D and DTS:X to see how those will sound.

Only reason I bought these was because I got them for $250 I would not pay $500 for these things, not much power. Now there new 90 series is a different story. Completely remodeled if you have the money buy the 90 series. Obviously you have to have 90 series towers which are compatable with the 9020,9040,9060,9080 unlike the 80 series where it's only 8060 and 8080.

Excellent sound and deflection for atmos sound wish the design was more friendly for other models

Great addition to a set of definitive 8060's .The highs seem to go everywhere from such a small speaker.

I bought into the whole Atmos receiver, but havent really heard what these speakers can do yet

These speakers complete the look of the BP-8060ST and provide Dolby Atmos capability. The drivers themselves are not the best quality, but that is regulated by Dolby. The fit and finish is perfect with the BP-8060ST.

These are an awesome addition to the tower speakers as they allow the sound to bounce off of the ceiling providing additional sound resonance throughout the entire room. A must have!
