Good sound for a home theatre, paired with Dolby Atmos A90s and the included internal subwoofer make for great sound and great looks. I had an older BP-8040 that was also great but the subwoofer part died after ~8 years. With this model I was a bit worried about the looks of the base (previous 8040s had black feet that were hard to notice), but the 9040s look great on my wooden floor once unpacked.

I have had Def Tech speakers and subs for OVER 30 years and was ready for an upgrade. These speakers are fantastic especially when combined with the height modules that seemlessly click into the top. Plus now, the subwooofers are built in freeing up floor space in the family room!

High highs, throaty mids and deep lows. Great speakers. High quality. Bi polar adds to room effect. Powered sub pairs perfectly with a stand alone sub to fill in any frequency lacking. Recommended.

This was my first experience with Def Tech brand. Never had I heard of them until I stop by at Best Buy to sample home theater speakers and ended buying Def Tech. They are wonderful speakers and sounds great. There is truly no need for extra subwoofer as you get dual subs that will thunder the movie watching experience.

Upgraded from BP-8040 to BP-9040 series. The 8040 series was (and still is ) fantastic. I upgraded to the 9040 to add the height modules without having cut any holes in my ceiling. The peaker looks fantastic and has the sound to match. The integration of the height module was seamless. The quality of 8040 was great. Watched many many many movies on high volume and they worked flawlessly and never faltered. The sound quality and bass is awesome. A must have for movie enthusiats!

They sound amazing! By that I mean I am hearing things in movies I already saw that I never know was there. With the powered woofer you don't even need a subwoofer in your set up.

Excellent design and full rich bright sound. Was looking at some high end bookshelves but for my needs these won out. Fuller sound with that big powered sub. These thing can get a phone call from the neighbors loud. It’s nice to have them and they look great in the living room too

These speakers are incredible. I bought them for my boyfriend to go with his center speaker and little wall speakers, all same brand. We have no reason to go to the movie theater now. Our home theater is WAY better!

I will admit I purchased these on sale, but they are worth it. The built in subwoofer is amazing and I keep it at 75%. It vibrates like club speakers when appropriate yet there is no distortion even at high volume. Tremendous speakers able to handle a wide range of musical styles!

Bought as an open box and can't say enough about the quality, I own all definitive technology speakers and bought these as the front wides, you won't be disappointed if you can find these at open box pricing.

These are good speakers (for movies). The mid-range is lacking for music (guitar plucks, vocals, piano). I have had these about three years and am finally upgrading to some speakers that will be better for music. Good tight bass. Have the center channel too. May keep that as it performs well and will be off during music.

Great all encompassing speakers for a high end system with no sub required. These won't over power you with bass but they are almost hard to believe when you 1st discover they were not paired with a sub. They sound full with crisp, perfect highs. If one desires more bass, they still are perfect to pair with a sub as opposed to a more pricey B&W with a sub. I preferred these to the equivalent B&W with a sub in other words especially noting the cost difference. Excellent aesthetics, size and overall quality.

I purchased a pair of these Definitives after making a 100 mile trip to our nearest Best Buy with a Magnolia sound room. My wife and I listened to B&W, Klipsch, Pioneer Elite Series, and others before making the decision to purchase these. No other speaker, at this price point, can compare to the full, detailed sound that these deliver. I am hearing subtle details that I have never heard before, in music that I've listened to all my life. One thing I would recommend, if you purchase a pair of these, and stream your music, is to move to a music service like Tidal (which provides true high fidelity music). I noticed very quickly that the high quality of these 9040's really made the compressed MP3 format of Apple Music glaringly apparent.

I bought these Def Tech speakers to upgrade my system with newer tech. They pair up well with the height modules and center speaker which I added after the initial tower speakers purchase. These speakers are clearly the most responsive I've ever heard. I'm noticing notes and depth in music not heard with my other speakers Well worth every penny!

I have spent the last 3-4 months doing research on which speakers to buy for my home theatre system. i was a heavy lean towards Klipsch Speakers however, once i heard the BP9020's and CS9040 Center Channel. i knew i was now a Def Tech fan!! the warm tones when you are listening to a movie and or music is unmatched in my opinion! Great Speaker!!

Upgrade from an itb Onkyo system. Once they break in you will be blown away. If using for music I would suggest buying also a standalone sub. Sub frequencies were definitely there but I like the lows to hit extra hard. Clarity is superb. Don't waste your money on lower priced Klipsch or over processed Bose. These may be expensive. However, you will be rewarded whenever you play movies or music. Build quality is superb. I may eventually buy a second set for rears. A+++
