Still in Awe!!!
|Posted .Pros mentioned:Bass, Sound quality, SubwooferI was shopping for new subwoofer and came across these BP9040 speakers. Built in 8" subwoofers. You are able to adjust the amount of bass you like. Movies and music sound awesome. Still surprised how great they sound, paired with CS9040. The mids are incredibly clear, with the right amount of bass. Solving my subwoofer problem. Ended up being a great time to upgrade my L/C/R speakers.Thunderous and clear sounding. You can feel the bass through your chest.. 7.2 setup with Denon X2200 pushing them. I can always later add A90 atmos speakers later as well.- Mensrea69

Great speakers

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Sound quality, SpaceThese speakers are awesome! I was comparing these two an equivalent Bowers and Wilkins. The sound is crisp and fills the room. I have a designated home theater and chose these for the ease of adding Atmos upfacing speakers. I have a large paradigm subwoofer as part of the system and there’s not too much bass with the individual subs in the towers. Very happy with the purchase.

Great sound
|Posted .Pros mentioned:Sound quality, SpaceThis is one of 5, have 2 towers. Heard demo in the "magnolia room" before we purchased and are so pleased with the performance of the whole system. Go sit and listen then buy.

From mild to WILD theater quality sound! Amazing
Posted .Pros mentioned:Sound quality, SpaceIn 2015 I wanted an affordable great sounding Home Theater system, did lots of research and chose a Def Tech Pro Cinema 600 speaker system and a Yamaha RXA 1050 Receiver. I thought I was in heaven and my family and friends were very impressed at how large and clean everything sounded for nearly being invisible in the modest 14'x18' Living room. I thought I was set and done! I'm also a sucker for stopping in the Best Buy "sound room" to listen to all the cool expensive speakers... last year thats when it really started! I walked out of the store with a new set of Def Tech BP 9040 Towers, then a month later, I got a CS 9040 Center speaker, then a month later, a pair of SR 9040 Surrounds. I thought I was complete and done... NOT! A couple months later I ordered the A 90 Atmos tower topper speakers. (Don't get me wrong, the Pro Cinema 600 system is a fine sounding set of speakers for their size, they easily shook the room and I loved them.) After about a total tweaking time of 2 hours cumulative with the receiver, this new 9040 speaker system is phenomenal as far as I'm concerned. I've been to many AMC, Harkins and other theaters.... My living room sounds just as good... anyone that has heard my little theater will agree... they are always wanting to know when they can come back and watch another movie. If you are looking for an awesome moderately priced home theater speaker system, Give these Def Techs a listen... You'll probably do what I did, I love mine!

Room filling sound
|Posted .Pros mentioned:Sound quality, SpaceUpgraded the TV room with all DEF TECH except subs. Chose the Def Tech due to it's bi polar sound design because the room lacks side walls and is very open. Def Tech Towers BP9040's, CS9040 center, SR9040 surround, AVR Denon X3400H, PB-2000 Subs. Outstanding room filling sound couldn't be more pleased. Not using towers built in subs.

Just "Wow"!
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI purchased a pair of these Definitives after making a 100 mile trip to our nearest Best Buy with a Magnolia sound room. My wife and I listened to B&W, Klipsch, Pioneer Elite Series, and others before making the decision to purchase these. No other speaker, at this price point, can compare to the full, detailed sound that these deliver. I am hearing subtle details that I have never heard before, in music that I've listened to all my life. One thing I would recommend, if you purchase a pair of these, and stream your music, is to move to a music service like Tidal (which provides true high fidelity music). I noticed very quickly that the high quality of these 9040's really made the compressed MP3 format of Apple Music glaringly apparent.

Q: QuestionI bought these a couple months ago.... Every time the subs turn on, there's a quick popping noise. It happens on both speakers.... I have contacted Def Tech and they are telling me the internal amps are bad. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks! -M
Asked by Mo.
- A:Answer @Gary, I spoke with Chet at Def Tech customer service....real nice guy. Told me that all of the speakers in the BP9000 line will have this popping noise when the subs first turn on. Essentially he said it was "normal" and would not affect the longevity of the speakers. He also said that replacing the amps would not help. If you're within your return period, and don't like the popping noise at startup, return them. I've tried everything to help with the noise but nope, still present. I love how the speakers sound and will be keeping them though. -Mo

Q: QuestionTen minutes after I turn off my receiver, there is a pop (but it's really more of a thump) that is very very loud. I've had the speakers for a few months, and I think it might be discharge from receiver? Other than that they are great.
Asked by Person.
- A:Answer i believe its the built in amplifier shutting down. the d light on the bottom of the speaker on the front will be lit and watch it. if you hear the thump and the light goes out then that's what most likely it is.

Q: QuestionWe have the Onkyo TX-NR696 AV receiver, is it enough to power the BP9040?
Asked by E92M3.
- A:Answer I looked up your specs. You have 100 watts per channel. My Yamaha has 90 and it brings the house down. You will have no problem. I also have the center channel speaker and added a subwoofer.

Q: QuestionMy definitive technology BP40 series towers and my BP80 series center Chanel make random popping noises while watching tv on all video sources; is this the speaker or my Onkyo amp that’s causing the problem... it’s very intermittent
Asked by Moby.
- A:Answer Your internal amps

Q: QuestionI see you state that they need to be plugged into wall outlet. Does this mean they can’t be plug into surge protector
Asked by Chris.
- A:Answer Hey. So yes. They do need to be plugged into a wall surge protector like panomax wall plug. But you don't need to plug into a RCA for the bass. The speakers are designed to be best sounding with just the speaker wire plugged into it. Just ask Definitely technology. That's what they recommend. But I'd still get a subwoofer too!
