Great bass due to built in sub-woofer - mid and highs could be crisper -

Build and performance justify cost, but recent sale prices really swing the deal.

Vocals sound a little flat on the DefTech BP-9040s when compared with my Dahlquist DQ-20s (I compared them side-by-side with a speaker switch). But I mostly listen to jazz, and the DefTechs seem to sound better than the Dahlquists when playing jazz. The DefTechs' compact form factor and integrated powered subwoofer work better in my current space. The $749 sale price really sealed the deal for me.

These speakers are the best I've ever bought. Sound is unbelievable!!

I do find the sound quality and base very good. I think however they have definitely reached the farthest out on the cost vs. value curve atleast as far out as I am willing to go. The leveling screws could be less of a operation to level the speakers. I think a built in level under the top cover plates would be a nice addition. These are after all nearly a thousand each. Overall the sound is excellent and I am happy I bought them.

Amazing sound from this speaker for great theater experience

My Magnolia rep showed me these speakers and I was really impressed. The sound is terrific and the styling and build quality is amazing. The powered sub-woofer and separate LFE inputs are also a great feature.

Nice size without visually dominating the room. Very precise mid and highs. Replaced a home theater with a stand alone sub. Nice having the sub in the front but could not compare with a separate sub. I added the cube, much smaller than the original. The combination is great and adds a more surrounding bass.

There is no better floor speaker. Clear, vibrant, deep, the sound coming out of these speakers is unmatched. So powerful, you don't need a subwoofer (although one does exist).

I did little to no research before I made my purchase and very happy with the towers, they have exceeded my expectations. They look amazing and clean without having sub boxes to hide.The next few day I did a fair amount of research. I have a really large living room opened to a large dining and kitchen, hard wood floors and tall ceilings and it doesn't where i am and the area is filled with quality sound and plenty of it. The only thing better without going to the big leagues is the next size up.I am sure there are cleaner tighter speakers out there. Having Kevlar components in my car with the most powerful JL audio digital amp you can buy and 2 10w3 in the back- I am still impressed when i get home.

Purchased a pair of these with a center and denon 3300 receiver and wow. The sound is incredible and the built in subwoofers really set them apart.

Really spacious, if you like direct sound or very small sound stage these aren't for you. Huge sound stage and great presentation

This is the best speaker I’ve ever owned. It sounds much better than any of my other surround systems. DefTech is one of the best speakers I’ve heard. They definitely live up to their name. My other front speakers were a Mirage LCR sound bar with a 10”sub and they sounded great. I was worried that the 8” subs in the DefTech wasn’t going to play as deep as the 10” sub, but they are all that and more. You will not be disappointed in these speakers period.

Good loud speaker. Love the subwoofer buiut in. No need to buy separate su woofer. Look sharp great sound qualities. Biuth it for good price

I got these towers when the magnolia an ivy sale was going on. To good of a deal to pass up. And my god they sound amazing. The bass is crazy good

These speakers sound amazing, look great, and with the built in subwoofers keep my media room uncluttered while providing a super listening experience.

I'm by no means a expert, but these are very good speakers for my living room. These can get obnoxiously loud and sound good on the hardwood floor. Clarity is great. I like having the option to add height channels by stacking them on top of these, and am glad to see they are still available years later. Do note that the built-in subwoofer noticably pops when it automatically turns off. Its not too bad but breaks the immersion. This happens quite frequently at low volumes. I mostly resolved this with a smart power strip but it may be a deal breaker for some. They should really add a switch on the back to keep it always on.

I love my towers. The audio/surround sound effect in my home theater is top tier.

I've had my speakers (pair) for about one month now and have used them almost everyday since I bought them. My family has been using Definitive Technology for over 20 years and they always deliver on the best quality. The bass is just right on music and movies.
