I got these as a first stage to a dedicated media/theater that my wife gave me as an anniversary gift. Thanks Leonard at Magnolia in Durham, NC for doing the price match down a very low price. As for the sound, these are amazing, bass is punchy without being fatiguing. Mids and highs are crisp and clear. If you can find these as they are being discontinued you will not be sorry

Ok so first lets talk about the appearance...these towers look a bit boxy at the top. The led D on the bottom of the speakers are a nice touch and I love the octagonish shape of the speaker base. Now the sound. These speakers are powerful and definitely need to be tuned for that perfect sound that these babies can deliver. One very important accomplishment of these towers are that they can produce accurate bass at low volume. Many speakers just cannot do this. Def Tech does it with ease! The highs deliver without ear fatigue for such big powerful speakers. When you turn the volume up really loud the Def Tech give you controlled increase to where you dont get distortion and the bass doesn't get sloppy... it stays tight but it does rattle anything not tied down like you wouldnt believe. Atmos is only okay... not because of Def Tech but because it just needs to be developed more or you need to just get proper in ceiling speakers... or maybe I was just expecting more. Dont get me wrong they do work! I just find myself wanting to hear more from the atmos toppers. Quick sidebar... if you're not using a power conditioner (panamax) you need to... it makes a difference! B4 I used one I could see my lights flicker when I blasted the volume and my SC-95 would occasionally shut down.... not anymore! With these towers I feel like I'm good for the next fifty years! Now i gotta sell my like new 8060's towers and center channel!

I spent quite a while in the magnolia center listening to different setups, and finally decided to go with these as my front r/l speakers. i already had the 9040 center to match, so choosing a set within my budget was pretty easy. i have pioneer lsx-503 pushing these. i am using the LFE input with these and ihave the speakers set to large (against DT recommendations), as recommended from a sound and vision reviewer. i must say these sound excellent. the bass these produce is deep and tight without sounding too boomy. i was skeptical of the bass produced in the magnolia sound room as they were not using the LFE channel, but i was not disappointed when i got them hooked up at home. the highs are not tinny, and the mids are warm and comforting. i have not expierenced what others have reported with these towers (humming noise, rattling nose, or reversed polarity on audessey setup). they are a bit pricey at regular price, but if you wait for a sale they are well worth it. after all said and done, i got them for approximatly bogo. all in all i am very happy with these and they mix very well with my mirage MX bookshelfs for surrounds.

Do yourself a favor and go listen to these wonderful speakers. Clear highs, great mids and outstanding bass make for one heck of a speaker. With 2 of these I found it hard to justify a stand alone sub. Try em, you'll like em!

When I purchased these Def Tech speakers I really didn’t know what I was getting sure I knew they were high end speakers. I would hav3 never imagined they would sound so awesome. I get great highs and deep tight rolling bass. I couldn’t asked for a better speaker very impressed.

I have had Definitive Technology tower speakers for over 10 years and have enjoyed the product, over the years I have added additional speakers from their line up. I felt I wanted to upgrade the main tower speakers so I ordered this set. I have been very pleased. The highs are improved as well as the Mids. The base is a major step up. I have been very pleased with the speakers. I have not experienced any of the pop sounds that others have experienced. When the speakers power down, they just shut off. I hope the issues others have had were corrected at this point.

Incredible speakers! I set up a sperate system in the house as just a 2 channel system. These do the job with ease. Once you have them set up correctly, they image like you wouldn't believe. The bass is very controllable for those who want more or want less. The mids and highs couldn't be better for a speaker in this price range. I honestly just can't say enough about these speakers. Give them a listen before you buy your next pair.

These speakers paired with a good amp make for a great simple 2 speaker system. They have very clear highs where you can hear the talking and singing very well, but also have a deep punching bass that can make walls vibrate.

Not a single complaint. From the nice packaging to the removable stand...it gives off accurate highs and lows at the same time
