Customers are saying

Customers regard the G7 17.3" gaming laptop favorably for its performance, large screen size, and impressive graphics capabilities, with many also praising the high refresh rate and RGB keyboard. However, significant concerns exist regarding overheating and loud fan noise, while some users also mentioned the limited SSD storage and the laptop's considerable weight. The build quality received mixed reviews, with some finding it solid while others did not. Despite some negative feedback, the price point was generally considered reasonable.

I drove 30 miles to this store to buy a PC for work (I work remotely and my current PC was getting on it's last leg). They didn't have one that I felt met my current needs and the associate recommended this gaming PC. I asked if GS checked it before selling it - I was told it was updated and good to go and there would be no issues with it. So, I bought it. A couple of days later when I could actually spend time to set it up, I immediately ran into issues. It wouldn't log in. I couldn't even TRY to set my wifi up. Nada. That next weekend, I drove back 30 miles to BB (now 90 miles to date). Told them my issue. They stated - oh, I see the updates weren't current. Wait - I thought this PC was good to go?!!? Sigh... LUCKILY, I'd not disabled my remote desktop from my old computer. SOO, I had to leave my newly purchased (OPEN BOX) computer (don't buy one and wont ever again). Drove home (120 miles to date). Waited almost a week to say it was good. I then took my old computer so my info could be transfered over. That was almost 3 days. Drove back to BB (now 150 miles), picked up my computer - drove back home (180 miles now). When I got it, it SOMEWHAT worked. GS didn't listed to what I needed to do my job. SOOO luckily my job's IT dept and to make it work (there were driver's that WEREN'T installed, updates, not installed). $1500 for a computer - 6 hours for another IT team to make it work. Please BB - don't have your employees make promises that things will work AND QS say things are good to go when they're not. I will ever buy an open box again, and to buy another PC from BB - VERY questionable. Tara

This things specs are a beast. Only thing that could be better is having a 1tb ssd in instead of the 512. But this can be fixed with a expanded sd card of usb external portable drive. 4k would be nice but it also throttles the refresh rate so maybe not so nice? All in all an awesome pc

excellent laptop. Only minus, it is getting very hot when playing high videocard demanding games. So you definitely need laptop cooler with it. It gonna help a lot.

      Bratich,

Thanks for your review and we're happy to see that your laptop is meeting your needs. Here are some tips to help you if your computer is still running at a hotter temperature than you would like:

      1. Update your computer BIOS to the latest version available
      • Browse to the Dell Drivers & Downloads page:
      • Ensure you have selected the correct Operating System
      • Under Category, choose BIOS
      • Locate the latest System BIOS
      • Click Download and save the file to your PC
      • Open File Explorer and browse to the location where you saved the downloaded file
      • Double-click the BIOS setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process
      2. Open Alienware Command Center
      3. Click Thermal at the Active Default Theme and set it to Performance
      4. Restart the computer
      5. Once the computer boots into Windows open SupportAssist
      6. Go to the Troubleshooting tab and click on I want to check a specific piece of hardware
      7. Click CPU under CPU Devices
      8. Select CPU Stress Test and click Run Test
      9. Open the Alienware Command Center and go to the Fusion tab
      • The CPU peak temperature should be less than or equal to (≤) 100 ℃
      • When under high stress, the computer's average temperature can be expected to be less than (≤) 100 ℃.

Computer is fast. Graphics are top notch. There are times that I miss having a touch screen like my old laptop, but that is not a big deterrent at this time. Only issue I have been having is Google Chrome will not lad sometimes. Still trying to get that straightened out

Bought this laptop for my son for college and he uses it almost everyday for both class, projects, and of course gaming. He says it is super fast, visually amazing, and very efficient. Worth the money.

The SSD drive needs to be at least 1TD for these systems. The gaming partitions could be 250 and the remainder could be for the C drive

I bought this as a gift for my son for Christmas. He loves it. It has newer graphic cards, the fans keep in cool, cpu are a newer generation. With 500 g of memory he should be set! The battery life holds great too! I’m pleased with my In experienced choice!

Fast and powerful. Good value due to sale price. Draw back is getting data from old to new laptop due to difficulty loading some software appears to be due to some of the preloaded Software. Some issues may be due to "user" not a computer tech.

Good gaming laptop looking back at it was a good purchase seeing the graphics card drought you will need a cooling pad but you can pick a good one up on Amazon for $20-30 as it runs very hot especially with the boost button

Great gaming laptop. I bought this due to the lack of gpu's on the market. The 2070 rtx runs every game I play smoothly on max settings. I recommend getting a good laptop cooler but other than that it's good to go.
