Don’t purchased
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Horrible product. Device stopped working after two weeks of using it and when I was trying to utilize the warranty, Best Buy gave me the runaround on getting it serviced. Ultimately, leaving it up to me to pay for repair. It’s a nice looking laptop. Pretty decent processor. However, pretty useless at this point since it is not working at the moment.

Great laptop, held back by not so great speakers.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Once again, Dell has put out another amazing mid-level laptop. I cant even count how many Dell laptops and computers I have owned over the years. They are definitely one of the first brands I always look at when I want to get something new. They have a long history of putting out great products that just work, and in the rare event that they don’t, they have great customer service and warranties to back up their products. Out of the box this fells like a very well-built laptop. It has the usual silvery with a bluish tint color to it. Open it up and you are greeted with an amazing looking glossy touchscreen. It is a 14” 1920x1200 which is considered Full HD+. I found the touchscreen to work very well and to be very responsive. I also didn’t notice that it showed fingerprints too badly, which is great for a touchscreen device. For ports you get a full size HDMI, 2 USB and 2 USB-C (which you will need 1 for charging) There is also a headset port to use with headphones and a microphone and finally a SD card reader. As a photographer and drone pilot, I definitely love that Dell still includes SD card readers on their machines. Its great for dumping off a bunch of pictures and videos onto my computer while im on the go. The keyboard is very comfortable to use. They are not quite full size keys due to the size of the laptop, but I have fairly big hands, and I am able to type without any problems. The keyboard also has a nice adjustable backlight as well. The keyboard also has a fingerprint reader for extra security and to very quickly and easily unlock your computer. The design of the laptop is 2-in-one, this means the screen can completely fold over the back of the laptop which essentially turns it into a tablet. Also, when you flip it over, Windows 11 automatically switches over to its laptop mode so it will bring a touchscreen keyboard on the screen when you need to type and things like that. Performance wise, this computer worked great for any everyday task you can throw at it. You can easily multitask with watching videos, surfing the web, using office programs and email and things like that. With its 16GB of DDR 5 memory, I was even very easily able to do more demanding tasks like editing photos in Photoshop and editing videos as well. Granted, this isn’t as powerful as something like a gaming laptop, if you need to use it for things like this on the go, it can easily handle them. One thing I am quite disappointed with on this laptop is the speakers while playing music. I like to listen to a lot of rock and metal music which can be a little bass heavy. The speakers on this, even at fairly low volumes sounded very distorted and they were really struggling to play the music. I didn’t find it to be as bad if you were listening to a podcast, or watching a movie unless it was like an action movie with lots of explosions and things, those sound pretty bad as well. So if you plan to listen to a lot of music or action movies through the built in speakers, you will be pretty disappointed with their performance. As a side note, through headphones, earbuds, or a Bluetooth speaker everything does sound completely normal. Overall, this is a great laptop, very portable, has a great 2-in-1 design, and can handle most productivity and entertainment tasks with ease. If you can overlook the speaker problem, I would highly recommend this laptop. But if you plan to listen to a lot of music or movies through the speakers, I’d maybe look elsewhere.

The best everyday laptop you can buy now.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a great little machine. This is my favorite everyday use laptop now. The size is super portable, barely taking up more room than my tablet. The touch screen allows me to play card games and mahjong right on my laptop, and my tablet might be a little redundant now. I had the 16” previous version of this laptop, and this little guy is more pleasant to use as long as you don’t need the extra screen real estate. The color is listed as Ice Blue, but it sure looks silver to me. I can only see some blue when I put it next to a plain silver machine. I thought it would be a little more colorful, but it’s plenty tasteful and attractive. There is some chassis flex, but it does not feel cheap or fragile, it flexes with confidence. The shape of the palm deck is brilliant, I don’t get fatigued when typing for long stretches, it’s got a smoothed edge on the front which makes all the difference for comfort. This is the best laptop typing experience since my ‘00s Thinkpad. High praise. Startup is instantaneous. Its important to remember that any new computer you get is going to need to download massive amounts of updates and restart many times. This is not the fault of the folks who made your computer, but the nature of modern operating systems. Dell’s updates were for the hardware and their own software, much less disruptive than all of the Microsoft updates. The fingerprint reader on the power button is great, I very much prefer using Face ID with an IR camera, but that might be a higher price point feature. The power button fingerprint reader is fast and accurate, I use a few different fingers and it reads them all instantly. I am disappointed by one facet of this laptop, the USB connectivity is rather pathetic and feels like a forced downgrade that hobbles connectivity for this machine, you cannot use real high speed external storage or true docking stations with this laptop. It will work fine with external monitors, but the speed of the ports is a little embarrassing. The fan does do some hard work whenever doing processor or graphics intensive work, e.g. playing a game, doing some video rendering, etc. When the laptop is sitting on a surface the fan is noticeable but not intrusive, but when I put the laptop on my cooling mat, which opens the bottom, the fan noise has a high pitched dentist drill quality to it. Overall, this is the best everyday laptop I’ve ever used and definitely a keeper. I look forward to years of good service with this Dell.

Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 Touch Screen Intel Core 5
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TL;DR: SETUP: It has Windows 11 installed, but takes some time, like all Windows computers, to set up. Follow the onscreen directions, connect to a power supply and Wi-Fi, step away for a few minutes, and it will be mostly ready when you come back. USE: It works well. The Copilot integration is nice. Install what you like and uninstall what you don’t (or keep them around like I do…). USABILITY: It’s a Dell Windows laptop that gives you good familiarity if you’ve owned either, especially a Dell laptop (or 2 or 3…). OVERALL: It works well, battery life is pretty good (but could be better). It’s not the lightest, but feels premium with its aluminum case. It functions well, can easily multitask, has a helpful touchscreen and keyboard that folds away. This is a good option for work, home, or school. It’s not a gaming laptop, but excels everywhere else. REVIEW: It took some time to set up, but I think I’m getting more familiar with setting up laptops. Once logged in, the Dell Inspiron is quick. I first noticed the helpful amount of ports. There are 2 USB-C and 2 USB-A ports, an HDMI output, an SD Card reader, and a headphone jack. The physical laptop feels very durable. The keyboard’s keys have a nice “suspension feel” to them and are backlit. The screen is clear and legible. I don’t always use it, but always like having a touchscreen, and this one works well. I like the fingerprint reader, and it’s worked perfectly 100% of the time. As a workhorse of a computer, it does a good job. I like everything about it. The build quality is very good (great?), it feels premium, seems like it will last a while, so won’t need to be replaced in a short time. It’s slightly heavier than some, but I think the feel of durability is worth the extra few ounces. It will be my Windows companion.

Nice laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dell understood the assignment here with a well built i5 intel processor, 16GB RAM and half terabyte solid state HDD. It feels solid and is quite slim and light for a laptop. It's a bit on the heavier side for a tablet. Once I got the laptop in hand, I was worried that it wasn't a 2 in 1 laptop at all. It looked like the hinge would stop at 180 degrees. I took a deep breath and continued to find that it did actually lay flat on the back of the keyboard. The touchscreen is responsive. It's 1900 x 1200 full HD+ led display and the colors are nice, picture is crisp and clear. The laptop has plenty of USB ports; 2 USB A and 2 USB C. The USB C also charges the laptop. There's also a headphone jack, a HDMI port and a full size SD slot for additional storage. The sound is what most expect from a laptop. Connecting Bluetooth headset or plugging in a wired pair for the best sound. I also like that the webcam comes with a privacy shutter. My last laptop missed that feature and it really should be on every laptop. This laptop will handle most multi-tasking thrown at it, but it won't handle really high end games, the built in graphics aren't made for it. Though the graphics can handle multiple screens. This laptop is great for most people who just need a good multitasking machine that can run multiple screens and watch videos, be productive especially with co-pilot built in. I would recommend it for anyone that's not a hardcore gamer.

Solid Reliability
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Dell - Inspiron 14 2-in-1 14" Touch Screen Laptop is another solid product from Dell. It, as usual, came well packaged. The set-up was quick and easy and I was up and running in no time. It has two USB-A ports, one on each side, a media card reader, a headphone jack, a HDMI connection and two USB-C ports, both of which can be used to charge the laptop. They are situated next to each other. It would have been nice to have one on each side like the USB-A ports to give a bit more versatility when it comes to the charging cables and where your outlet is. The keyboard is backlit and it is a touchscreen that is very responsive. I've been getting a solid six hours on battery for normal use and at least nine hours when I'm mainly using it just to read. As I haven't yet received a low battery warning, I have yet to find the end limits. Charging time is quick. One half hour will add fifty percent charging time which is at least three hours. The keyboard is standard size so the keys are easy to deal with. With 16 GB RAM, I've not experience any slowdowns no matter what I'm doing. So far I've not had problems with the hinges switching from laptop to tablet but it is early days. Though, I have to say that the hinges on this Dell seem to be stronger than the ones on an older Dell 2-in-1 I owned. It's a bit heavier than I thought it would be, but at just under four pounds, the weight is no issue. Overall, it's solid laptop.

Perfect Daily Driver Laptop for School and the Off
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me say this is a great daily driver of a laptop for media consumption, office/school work. The CPU/Memory are a perfect combo and even had no issues with some light gaming on it. The fact the screen is a touch-screen and rotates makes a perfect for media consumption, or using as a tablet. For my useage the touch screen reacted fine and I had no problem browsing my internal media server to watch movies or read reciepes as I used it in the kitchen. It has two USB-C Displayport out an HDMI connection, SD Card (not micro, but an adapter works fine) and two USB-A with a headphone jack, so for a slimish laptop you should be able to connect what you need without issue. The battery life is more then adequate for me, allowing me to use it for a few hours without issue or any noticable performance hit, so that is great. The only downside is it has Windows 11 24H2, and I fault Microsoft for the process. In starting up to connect and log in it took 3 reboots and 30 minutes, so when you get it, make sure you have internet and sometime, gone are the old days where it boots up, and you are logged in 10 minutes, now you have a few reboots and have to hit next, before you can connect. However once setup I didn't seem to have any issues. So just note the first startup priocess will be a bit longer then needs be. Otherwise if you need a solid laptop, then this wopuld make a good choice.

Don't mess with me!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unit was on sale. Not in stock, so order to ship was placed. Email updates said shipment delayed....again, and again, and again. Finally was told a unit might ship eventually, but a date was given when the order -- if not filled -- would be cancelled. I don't play that game .... by the time that 2 week+ date came around, Best Buy and all other sources would no longer have their units on sale. I DON'T THINK SO! Ended the "bait and switch" tactic and CANCELLED THE BEST BUY ORDER.

Nice affordable laptop/touchscreen tablet.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First impression: My first impression of the 14” Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 laptop is that it is another solid laptop from Dell. The aluminum chassis feels very strong, the 360° display hinges are tight with no play, holding the display at whatever angle you want. The keyboard is the typical Dell keyboard, with wide and flat keys, perfect for both typist and two-finger typers as well. And the backlight keys are easy to see in the dark, without being too bright. The packaging is also typical packaging, which does a good job protecting the laptop. The laptop is suspended in the middle of the box with strong cardboard ends. The laptop is in a soft cloth, to protect the finish. And inside the laptop is another cloth, protecting the screen. What’s in the Box: • Dell Inspiron 14 7740 Laptop. • Dell Power Adapter. • Warranty, Safety, and Regulatory Information paper. Features: • Dell ComfortView to reduce harmful blue light emissions • Dual Digital Microphone Array with Temporal Noise Reduction • 360° hinge for tablet mode and tent mode • Dolby sound • Fingerprint reader Ports: • SD card reader • Universal 3.5 mm audio jack • USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A • HDMI 1.4 port** • Single USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A • Two USB Type-C® 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) with Power Delivery and DisplayPort™ Technical Specifications: • Processor: Intel® Core™ 5 120U (10 cores, up to 5.0 GHz Turbo) • Operating System: Windows 11 Home, English, French, Spanish • Graphics Card: Intel® Graphics • Display: 14", Touch, FHD+, WVA, 300 nits, • Memory: 16 GB: 2 x 8 GB, DDR5, 5200 MT/s • Storage: 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive • Case: Ice Blue, with Fingerprint Reader • Keyboard: Ice Blue English Backlit Copilot Key Keyboard • Touchpad: Precision touchpad • Camera: Integrated Widescreen FHD (1080p) Webcam • Audio: 2 tuned speakers w/Dolby Atomos Core and Waves MaxxAudio® Pro • Chassis: Aluminum • Wireless: Intel® Wi-Fi 6E AX211, 2x2, 802.11ax, Bluetooth® • Primary Battery: 4-Cell Battery, 54WHr (Integrated) • Power: 65W AC adapter, USB Type-C • Height: 0.62”- 0.74” • Width: 12.36” • Depth: 8.90” • Weight: 3.77 lbs. Performance: The setup was a typical Windows 11 setup. One thing that was different is the initial updates took quite a while longer than normal. But I also know that Microsoft has released some hefty updates over the last 2 months. The performance of this laptop is good and on par for its intended audience. I didn’t do any heavy testing because this isn’t a high-performance laptop. But for business use and home use, it does a great job. The new class i5 CPU does a great job, and with 16 GB of RAM and an M.2 NVMe drive, this laptop is very responsive. I opened all the software that I use every day, 9 different IT applications, ran Apple Music, and streamed Netflix, and the laptop didn’t miss a beat. The video is very good. It is bright, crisp, and the Dell ComfortView helps reduce tired eyes after hours of use. I spend 9-10 hours a day in front of the computer, so this is a nice feature for me. The wide viewing angle is nice, but not something I would use much. Streaming video looks good on this laptop. I’m not much of a tablet user, but having the 2-in-1 does have its uses. For instance, when working with clients, it’s less distracting and easier to talk with them and take notes in tablet mode, either using touch screen or the optional pen. But when working on client’s systems, laptop mode is king. Conclusion: To be honest, I am a Dell fan. I work with them every day in my job and have for years. The Dell Inspiron 14 7740 2-in-1 is another fine laptop from Dell. It has great performance in its class, it is a reversable laptop/tablet with touchscreen and an optional pen, and really good graphics from Intel Graphics. If you are looking for a good all around laptop with 360° tablet functionality, I highly recommend the Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 7740 laptop.
