Cheap Housing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is functioning fine so far. However, it's pretty heavy and the housing is so thin, it feels like it could be damaged if it was being transported very much. A computer geek friend says Dell is buying up parts that get rejected by other computer manufacturers.

Decent budget laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this laptop for $300 on Black Friday. For the specs with a touchscreen, it was a really good deal. The only problem is though it feels very poorly made. I wasn't expecting top quality for the price, but it just seems like they went the cheapest route. And the 128gb SSD drive doesn't leave much usable space with all the other junk loaded on there. The lack of a backlit keyboard when I got so accustomed to one was a bit of a bummer too. If you're not looking for a lot of frills and aren't doing much more than just going online to check email, pay bills, etc. it gets the job done.

Posted .Hi Mike,
We're sorry that your computer is not meeting all of your needs. Perhaps you can try to remove some of the programs that came pre-installed on your computer: Uninstalling or removing software or applications that you do not use or do not need from your PC can help speed up your PC. Applications may include background processes, system services, context menu entries and other things that can slow down your PC.
Uninstall applications you no longer need using Programs and Features (previously called Add/Remove Programs). Unnecessary applications occupy space on your hard disk drive.
1. Press the Windows logo key + R on the keyboard.
2. In the Run dialog box, type appwiz.cpl and press the Enter key.
3. In the list, select a program and click Uninstall.

The Dell laptop functions well but 15 in too big!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Dell Inspiron touch screen functions well but it is too big for portable use, such as on your lap. The touch screen takes a little getting use to? I'm use to using a tablet as touch screen, but when using the keyboard I have to remember that I do not need to use keyboard for most functions.

Dell Laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good basic laptop. It is not the fastest or lightest one you can purchase. It is decent for light web browsing and emailing. The price point is good for what is does.

Posted .Hello Gizmo,
Thanks for your review. We're sorry that the touchpad is not meeting your needs. If you'd like to re-calibrate your touchpad you can follow these steps:
Some Notebooks and Tablets with Keyboards have added gesture features to the touchpad hardware and drivers. A few of these features are two or three finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touchpad driver properties. Here are some tips to modify these settings:
1. In the Search box, type main.cpl.
2. Touch or click main.cpl in the list of programs.
3. Touch or click the Dell Touchpad tab.
4. Touch or click on the picture of the touchpad.
5. Touch or click Gestures (depending on your computer there may not be a Gestures option).
6. Change the options as preferred.
7. Touch or click Save.
8. Touch or click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.
9. Touch or click OK on the Mouse Properties window.
10. If the touchpad still does not work after following the preceding steps, refer to Dell Knowledge Base article - http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2tqmS02.
We hope this helps your computer perform better for you.

It's OK. Not as fast as I hoped for
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Internet connectivity is erratic at times. For the price(under 300), it was a decent deal for what we get.

Thanks for your review. We're sorry that your computer is not working as well as you hoped it would. Here are some steps to work on your connectivity:
1. Download and install the latest Wireless Card driver. (https://dell.to/2th3Tpe) After updating the driver, re-establish the connection with the Wireless Access Point and check the wireless performance.
2. If the issue persists, proceed to step 3.
3. Power-cycle the local network. Shut down the Dell system, the Wireless Access Point/Router and the Modem. Wait a minimum of 60 seconds before powering up the components in the following order:
4. Power ON the Modem, and wait for it to boot fully.
5. Power ON the Wireless Access Point/Router, and wait for it to boot fully.
6. Power ON the Dell system.
7. Open Network and Sharing Center
8. In the left side navigation pane, click on Change Adapter Settings
9. Right click on the wireless connection icon and select Properties followed by the Configure button
10. Under Wireless Options, select the Wireless N mode
11. For Windows 8 or later systems click the Advanced tab and look for 802.11n Mode on the right you will be given the option to Enable or Disable. If the mode is not visible you may need to update your drivers and firmware.
12. From the drop-down menu, choose Disable followed by Ok
13. This should restore the wireless download and upload speed. Internet speed can be tested at http://speedtest.net.

On a budget?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this PC as a gift for a 12 year old who only uses it to play games. Although it is NOT a gaming PC (which would cost me over 1500), he thoroughly enjoys. He only complains about the lagging time for his game.

If you'd like to diagnose what is causing your computer to crash, we'd consider running the following diagnostic test:
1. At the desktop, click the Search the web and Windows box and type "problem reports".
2. Select View all problem reports to view a list of errors that have occurred on your computer and possible solutions for them, such as updating drivers, flashing your system BIOS, or checking for updates to the software.
3. Under the Source column, look for Windows and under Summary, look for Shut down unexpectedly.
4. Right-click the line item and select Check for a solution.
We'd also suggest checking to make sure that your software and drivers are up to date on Dell's Product Page - http://dell.to/2yzSu7o.
You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2u98Cct.
We hope that this helps your computer perform better for you.
