Best Buy is still the best!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While I'm still a little upset on how I ended up buying this laptop open-box, I am pleased with it so far. I wasn't entirely happy to see so many fingerprints all over the lid but I quickly got over it the moment I turned this computer on and noticed how fast it is. I've purchased a desktop and 3 laptops from Best Buy between 2005 and now and 3 out of the 4 machines still work properly to this day. Best Buy has been very reliable when it comes to decent computers and I will continue to purchase from them forever. Now, on to this laptop. I am highly satisfied with this laptop and I'm writing this review on it. The screen quality is the best I've ever experienced and once again, the speed is out of this world. I've never been able to log into a computer so quickly. The touch screen works perfectly and don't be afraid to use it; this laptop is very durable. It is not a 2-in-1 so you can't use it as a tablet. This is my first time using a laptop with a SSD drive instead of a standard hard drive and while I am used to having my GB of hard drive space, I do like the SSD better. Overall, the laptop has exceeded my expectations. The only thing keeping me from giving this a perfect rating is the way I was forced into getting this laptop open-box. I stayed in line on Black Friday for hours to be one of the first people in. When I made my way into the store, I noticed the exact TV I wanted was not where the rest of the TVs were. For some reason, they were at the front where you checkout at. So, I had to get in line to get the TV and then I was forced to pay for it immediately instead of heading to the back to get this laptop. By the time I got to the back where the computers were, this laptop was sold out. I had to return the next day when they had 2 open-box products. I still don't understand why I was forced to pay for my TV first when other people were putting things in their shopping carts and moving on. Was I singled out for some reason? Best Buy has still not given me an explanation.

Great laptop at this sale price but see comment
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.IMPORTANT: Ships with with Windows 10 in S mode. This is a protected mode that will not allow you to install non-Microsoft software like Google Chrome. I even had problems installing Office 365! I highly recommend you turn off S mode. In order to do so, you must first activate Windows 10. This did not happen automatically and had to go into settings to activate. Once Windows 10 was activated (note, at no cost), I was able to to turn off S mode. Once S mode was turned off, this thing worked like a champ. The low review ratings here are from people who did not figure this out. Ignore them! If you have trouble activating Windows and turning off S mode take it to the Geek Squad - my guess is that they'll help you for free since it's a new purchase. At this current price this laptop is selling out fast. I went to purchase a second one and the closest store with one in stock is 90 miles away (and only 3 left)!

Excellent Laptop for Beginners
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought it primarily for use for emails, simple browsing. Easy setup, even a newbie could get this one up and running, just follow the prompts. Works well for what I wanted, a simple, lightweight, easy to travel device with touch screen that works. One drawback for those who want to go further--no DVD/CD reader/player. If you need one get an external device.

Great Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This a great laptop. It's not a gaming rig, but I was able to run a Wii/GameCube emulator on it just fine. It's also really snappy with it's SSD. I got it on sale for around $350 which is a steal as similar Laptops with the same specs are going for $700-$800. Not that it's important for me in a laptop, but it's a touch screen too. I didn't even realize that it was until I got it home.

Great price; solid laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Through the years I've started using a laptop less and less, as my phone and tablet have become more popular options. A few weeks ago I had a laptop go bye bye. Though not used much I still wanted/needed a laptop -- nothing crazy, pretty much a basis laptop with some brains. Dell and HP are two brands I'm a big fan of. The associate at a local Best Buy was pretty helpful. I told him my needs and he steered me to this laptop. Despite not having a demo displayed, I was satisfied and made the purchase. It included 6 months of virus protection, and I believe I got something like $150 off due to a sale. Can't really beat that. I love the look, keyboard, and interface. The speed is unbelievably faster than previous laptops. Even the color is great, considering I bought it off the wall without even getting a glimpse of its look. I have two minor complaints, but understand it comes with the price. 1. The mouse feels very cheap, as if it's on its last legs. Fortunately I already had a mouse I connect through a USB so problem solved there. 2. The battery life isn't very long, specifically when I play a game. I understand it's not a gaming laptop but was surprised to see how much battery gets eaten playing old games. My last laptop was purchased years ago and I figured they all came with better battery life with today's technology. Not a deal breaker but something worth pointing out. I've only had the laptop for a few weeks but have enjoyed it very much.

Good Discount Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop at the $350 Black Friday price and that is the amount that I base most of this review on. So far, the laptop has performed well. I switched the laptop to use Windows 10 and installed Sims 4 for my kids to use. The laptop has handled Sims 4 without problems and typically can last a few hours before needing to be recharged. Pros: - High value for the price of $350. - Able to handle standard games such as Sims 4. - Little "bloatware" installed initially. - Solid state drive helps with boot up and load times. Cons: - Limited computing power. This computer would not handle complex games or development very well. - Requires the user to switch to Windows 10. Although this is very simple, this may be daunting to some users. - Battery isn't great. It is ok. In the past, I have found batteries of low end laptops to only last about a year before they can't hold a charge very long. I can't verify that will be the case here, but am suspecting that it will be. Overall, this is a nice low cost laptop that works well for low processing tasks.

GREAT laptop at even better price!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I snagged this Dell laptop at a Pre-Christmas bargain price of $299.00, what a deal. It is super fast with the Intel Core i5, 8GB Memory and 256GB Solid State Drive. It was no problem switching to Windows Home from Windows S mode, just follow the easy directions from Google Search, so don't let that stop you. Now I can download all my apps, Goggle Chrome and Firefox Browsers. t was also great that there weren't a lot of unnecessary programs pre-installed like other computers that I have purchased in the past. Also received FREE next day delivery from Best Buy, that is great service. I can not believe how fast this laptop is and it is the best computer I've ever had, also my first laptop, I always had desktops for all these years. I connected it to my 24" monitor via HDMI and am using a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse connected to one of the USB ports so I have the best of both worlds, a desktop and laptop to go. I would highly recommend this Dell if your are in the market for a laptop, even at the current price.

Great modern tool and great price
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Daughter finds this laptop so natural to use with comfortable keyboard, responsive touch screen, and easy to use touchpad. The laptop is very lightweight, with a clear, bright screen. Have had no issues during 8 months of use. Great for playing games and streaming video online. Had no lag issues. Works very effectively for live video classes at school. The hard drive is solid state, very fast. but not very big. As this machine is primarily for schoolwork, and the kids store all of their work in the cloud, I don't think the small hard drive will be an issue. This was such a great value-for-money purchase! It's my first Dell ever, and so far I'm very pleased.

Laptop: Darn good for $350
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought on black friday special for $350. Definitely worth it. Quick and lighter than I expected. Do NOT like Windows 10 Home S Mode which comes standard. Luckily Microsoft allows you to change to Windows 10 Home. S Mode only lets you use apps from Microsoft Store so that means no Chorme - only Bing. S Mode suppose to prevent malware, etc from being installed. Seems like more of pain than the benefits claimed by Microsoft. Plan to change Windows 10 Home for free.

Perfect family laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm really pleased with this Dell touch-screen laptop. It's probably never going to leave our home, but even so, the battery life has been outstanding. Performance-wise, we wanted something serviceable for word-processing-type school and work assignments, web browsing, some videos, and basic stuff. Kids each have their own account, linked to their school Google accounts. Love that it has a touch screen, full keyboard with separate number pad, and like how the navigation pad functions. Followed online directions referred to in other reviews and easily disabled the Windows safe mode that everyone complained about. I really have no idea if we could've gotten by with it or not. We picked this up during a pre-Christmas sale and feel like we got a super value on this baby.

Great laptop for the price I paid
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very lucky and I purchased the laptop on sale. The specs were great and at $200 off the normal price, it was a great acquisition. Great equipment. Just be warned the OS installed is Windows 10 in S mode. The first thing I did after I paid, was to take the laptop to the wonderful Geek Squat team and taking advantage of my Total Tech Support subscription, requested them to turn the OS from S mode to normal Windows 10. For FYI, Windows 10 in S mode ONLY let you install applications purchase in the Microsoft Store. So, if you use applications that are not for sale there, you're out of luck since apparently the OS would not let you install them in your brand new machine. Please, note I was told by the Geeks that taking the operating system out of S mode was a simple process.

Not bad but Speakers on Bottom
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not a bad PC when it was on sale for ~$350. I would not pay $600 for this machine. The speakers are actually located on the bottom of the laptop so if you plan to use it while on your lap (or any non-hard surface) the sound comes out muffled. You need to make sure to disable S-Mode which will require you to sign up for a Microsoft Account. So if you don't have one, it will be one more account to manage and maintain. Otherwise the device performs well and it pretty fast at general tasks such as Internet Browsing, Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc). I would not play high definition graphics games (in fact they aren't even supported on this machine as it lacks a true HD display but you can play "lesser games" such as PopCap ones.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am extremely pleased with this laptop. Good laptop for working and very light gaming.
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is good. It has a decent processor that is good for work or school, and light gaming like Minecraft. Do NOT buy this if you're planning on doing basically any game with good graphics. Intel UHD graphics are not good at all. The battery is okay, it seems to fluctuate sometimes, though. I usually just keep it plugged in, so I can have the best performance and not have to worry about it draining. Overall, it's a solid laptop. Good for working and for schoolwork, but don't use it for gaming. You can spend about $100 more and build a PC that handles games much better.

Great Value for a decent laptop!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I only used this laptop for one day so far. After reading several reviews, I was a little skeptical but I am glad that I purchased it. It is a great laptop for the price. Touchscreen is very sensitive and speed is quite fast. Switch out of S Mode was easy and highly recommend to do so. This laptop is a little heavier than I expected but no complain since it is a larger screen size. I really like it.

Great laptop for the money
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have been pretty impressed with this laptop. Good specs and good speed, especially for the money. My only disappointment is that it comes with Windows 10 in S mode. not really sure why. It's not too difficult, and it's free, to remove S Mode, but I suspect that a lot of people won't understand what is happening or why it's running in such a restricted mode. The case is plasticy, but not too bad. The 256GB SSD drive is pretty standard size on laptops within this price range, even a few hundred dollars more. I would buy another one again.

Decent Laptop for the Pre Black Friday Sale Price
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased two of these laptops for the Pre Black Friday sale price of $349 each. Not a bad laptop. This is our first time owning a laptop with SSD (Solid-State Drive). The SSD is very impressive on the speed. Only issues we have had so far with these laptops is that the laptops are activated with Microsoft's Windows S-Mode. Anyone purchasing a new lap top will need to remove S-Mode to install most any programs on this laptop. We tried installing Microsoft Office 365 Personal, which should be a Microsoft trusted program, on our brand new laptops and because the laptops were in S-Mode we were unable to install this program until we removed S-Mode. The Best Buy employees selling these never mentioned anything about "S-Mode". The employees should be mentioning this on every sale of a new laptop.

So far so good!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only had it a few hours, but I want to mention that it starts up in S mode and you have to activate out of it. Product key is integrated into it already (i had to use the troubleshooter to get mine up because it wasn't showing up) but it was FREE to activate out of S mode. Anyways after getting it into home mode it seems to work great!

Good laptop for general home use
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this on sale and have not been disappointed. Paid 349 for the core i5 and that's the cheapest price I could find. Works great with a fast start up and does everything as expected with speedy results. The keys aren't backlit which is why I gave 4 stars but I have never had that feature so no problem. Hint... if you dont have a retail me not account, sign up and check cash back. I also received $52 back through using the coupon found there.
