I have had no problems with this laptop it has been great for playing games, great for doing work, never overheats, battery lasts a long time.
There is no problem with buying a refurb especially when it is inspected by geeksquad. This laptop may be a bit to large if you are going from place to place but for a good home computer or a business laptop I couldn't recommend a better buy. And if you do buy this make sure you register it right away to make sure that they erased the data from the last owner.

I bought this to replace my three year old Sony Vaio S with the first gen I7 and GeForce 340 ($1300 laptop from 2010).
This refurbished unit came LNIB; no scratches or any blemishes. Considerably faster than my old unit and runs Skyrim, BF3, CIV5 and other games with maxed settings; no compromise here. We'll see how it holds up against new releases, but I intend to install a SSD in the second bay.

Be Careful With Geek Squad Refurbished

I bought this laptop to access my companies network and work from home. Figured I'd save a few bucks going with Refurb. I wanted WiDi because I work with large spreadsheets and the thought of using my 41 inch plasma for a monitor appealed to me. Long story short, WiDi would not work, called Dell support who told me that the machine was registered to someone else so I couldn't get support, i needed to get it transferred to my name, Dell needs the previous owners name to do that, and I dont have that info so- I called Best Buy customer support and they tried but could not help me. I dont want a Laptop without support or warranty so It's going back and I'll by a brand new one. I'm out the 15 bucks I paid for next day delivery but that's what I get for being cheap and going with the refurtb. I'll still by from Best Buy though, they did their best to help me.

Great Price Refurbished. Once opening it from the box i tried turning it on and the battery was dead.. plugged in the adapter and the laptop turned on and says the laptop IS plugged in and CHARGING. However this is not true because my battery life has been charging at 0% for about 5 hours. Dell has a battery meter if you left click on the battery icon in the bottom corner that tells you your battery health, which it says mine is performing normally. Beyond that kick in the face the laptop runs fast and plays games great.

Had high expectations

The laptop itself was very nice. I expected a few "issues" as it was a refurbished laptop. But after talking with Best buy on the phone and reviewing the specifications I couldn't pass it up.
I received this lap top yesterday #11-11-13#. I opened the box and was a bit disappointed. I was expecting from the product description some additional software specifically "•Software: CyberLink Media Suite Essentials and more". All I that was on the computer was a clean install of Crapty Windows 8. I could not do any of the personalization's with windows as I can not activate windows. I tried online and was told install is invalid and over the phone and told the same thing. I was prompted to buy a valid copy of windows. I Called Best Buy to see if they could do a remote connect and fix the windows activation or send me the key I needed, and was told it would be $149.99 to fix it. Now I didn't get the geek squad protection, but when I literally open the box and it is broke I expect it to be fixed for free. This is unacceptable.
The keyboard on this laptop is also a little messed up. From obvious signs of being repaired or at least taken apart and put back together incorrectly, the keyboard is bowed and is really flexes as you type. As you type near the top row you it sounds as if there is some glue or double sided tape that tries to grab and hold it in place. #Again I expected some issues from being refurbished, but was told it would be like new, when you open the laptop up and can see the keyboard looks messed up that is not like new#
Also there is NO preinstalled Factor #Dell# software. Now you might think this is acceptable, but none of the soft buttons will work #shortcut keys#, and I could not find a download for them on the Dell site. I spent 3 hours trying to find a way to get the software and drivers from dell but could not get it all to work correctly. All time that I should NOT have had to spend. All I can think is this must have been a Friday fix.. as it was not completed or anything like I am accustomed too. This is not the first refurbished laptop I bought from Best Buy. All the others I have bought have come with all factory preinstalled software and any info for windows validation.
I think I just got unlucky with this. But I am VERY upset at the service I received on the phone. I talked to 3 people about the windows issue and after being on hold for the third one I am told I will need to pay to have them fix it. Come on I could buy a copy of windows and install it fresh myself for much cheaper than that... Heck it ain't like it would have any additional software on it anyways.
