Great laptop - another Dell that's a winner

The processor decent. Battery life is good. It's not heavy and it is quiet. The touchpad can be sensitive and takes getting used to. The speakers on the bottom aren't the best sounding. I've occasionally run into problems where it disconnects from my network and then can't find any open wifi connections. This is easily fixed when the computer runs the trouble shooting app and resets the adaptor. I haven't tried playing games on it. Overall I'm happy for the price I paid.

Problem with video

Sometimes it recovers, sometimes I have to reboot it. It's very heavy but I knew that when I bought it. And the keyboard is so teeny tiny that I need to use an external one. I can live with these problems which is why I gave it 4 stars. The video, otherwise, is very nice, sound is good. The setup was extremely easy which I really appreciated (since my last computer for work had just died).

My Third Dell Laptop

I selected the 17.3 inch screen, it's a joy to use. I didn't give it a 5 star because of one element the laptop lacked, which was my fault for not checking whether or not the keyboard had a backlighting. Also, the cursor pad has not definition making it more challenging to use. But, all in all, I am very pleased and would recommend this laptop.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.had to take back to Best Buy after 11 days because it seemed it was about to crash...had downloaded some recommended Dell drivers for WiFi and Bluetooth when everything went downhill...computer froze up, making a horrible grinding sound and was slow and jerky...took back to BB and there were 9 viruses! coincidence? I think not...all seems ok now...my last Dell Inspiron is 9 years old and still works great!

I did lots of research to find the best lap-top $500 (or under) could buy us for kids to leave my laptop and have another way to access Itunes and homework formatting. I wish I had never seen this "open box special!" There is not a day that goes buy that I do not hear a teen say, "I hate this laptop!" They are not spoiled, just frustrated with the minutes it takes for a program to load and more minutes for pop-up screens to give you completely unnecessary option that cause it to move even slower. I found out today it is not returnable and it happened to be the day it froze up completely - yet again. I hate kids saying "hate", but I feel the same way. :(

Posted .BuyersRemorse - We're sorry to hear that your recent Dell laptop purchase did not live up to what you had hoped. Here are some tips that we'd recommend to try to speed up your computer:
Delete temporary files and directories
1. Click Start, then in the search bar type "disk". Disk Cleanup should appear on the menu above the search box.
2. Run disk cleanup and eliminate unneeded temporary files (Search results, Internet Cache and other windows temp files you may no longer need)
3. Select files you want to delete then click OK to start the cleanup process. Uninstall applications you no longer use 1. Open the Programs and Features application in Control Panel. 2. Scan the list of applications installed for ones that you no longer use. 3. Highlight any application you no longer use and then click the uninstall button at the top of the list. Follow the prompts to uninstall.
4. Repeat for each application you want to uninstall.
5. Move large files and/or seldom used files to backup media (Photos, Music you seldom listen to, application downloads after the application has been installed etc.).
6. Empty the Recycle Bin.

To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below: 1) Start the computer. 2) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.) 3) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter. 4) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access. 5) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete steps 6 and 7 to see if you are able to resolve the lock ups or freezing.
