Laptop is fast, light, and very good looking. I use it at home for work and general use. Only complaint I have is the fan noise when it's running multiple apps but it rarely happens.

I purchased this on sale and was really happy with the specs for the price it was being sold at. I purchased if for software development and I'm finding it has no issues whatsoever running a full compliment of SQL Server, Visual Studio, Office apps all at the same time. My only complaint is the video solution (Intel) which simply falls flat on any type of decent 3d rendering.

I am writing this review about 2.5-3 years after purchase. When I purchased the device, I was extremely happy with it. I hoped that it would be somewhat "future-proof" with the 8th gen i7 and 16gb ram+256 gb ssd. However, after 1.5 years the battery is dead. I know that the battery is only rated for 18 months but I've owned other laptops that have gone their entire life without requiring a battery change. I believe a contributing factor to the low battery lifespan is the extreme heat generated by the i7, which is also uncomfortable to the skin. i7 is not worth it if it causes burns and battery death. Also, the laptop now has a busted hinge where the screen is popping up because the hinge+metal screws are fixated to plastic holes that break. Why would you make the most stressed part of the laptop this way.

Fast. Battery life is OK, usually 3-4 hours. Windows 10 is getting easier to maneuver. Plenty of space for me. I do not download videos or music. My computer needs are strictly for computer needs. Docs don't take too much room. One thing that I notice is that web pages come up quickly. Sites like BestBuy and Macys used to be slow and cumbersome. Not now.

I bought this computer for online classes and it satisfied what I needed. For a new laptop I was surprised how hot it can get on the bottom after using it for a few hours compared to the laptop I previously had. It moves fast and has what I need so I would recommend this to any student or person needing a home laptop.

This was a super value when it was on sale. i7, 16G ram and 256G SSD. Windows 10 and software run fast on it. Definitely faster than my old ThinkPad. But the battery is quit short, less than 2 hours, and the fan usually runs very fast and makes loud noice, which I think will shorten the fan life. The fan started making a weird noise a few weeks ago, and I called Dell. Dell's customer service asked me did a lot of things that I didn't think would help fix the fan at all, like updating the bios, software, etc, but it's the fan!!! After 40 minutes useless talk, I finally told them just mail me a fan and I can replace by myself. They agreed. So I received the fan and fixed it myself. Note that Dell only have mail in service. You have to mail your laptop to TX to get it fixed.

      RWTKO,

Thanks for your review. We're glad to hear that your new fan is working out well for your computer. Usually the fix is something along the lines of updating the BIOS on your computer but we're sorry to hear that did not work for you.

This laptop has everything I wanted and more...extremely fast, loading super speed, no drag at all. Graphics are fantastic. I like the convenience of a 2-in-1 and yet the lit keyboard for larger jobs on the computer. The only negative I can think of is the time and drag on power supply - drains rather quickly which is why I may yet purchase the power charger. I would definitely purchase again - always have best luck with Dell.

As many people said this laptop has a rough battery life and it's a bit loud. I don't really consider either of these to be a big deal because I primarily use my computer at a desk. The screen is great and the specs are hard to beat at this price.

Not a big windows fan, and this was my first windows computer in years. i like the touch screen and full screen flip. however, no cd drives was a terrible thing. i do understand that with a touch screen and the laptop being thin you dont want it bulky, but i really do enjoy my cd drive. overall a good windows experience.

I wanted replace my 6 year old 13 in macBook pro. So I decided to get a non mac laptop as I had hear how good other computers are. I saw this laptop on the best buy store, I did like it a lot at first glance. Its very light weight, has a nice design, is 2-in-1, touch-screen and fast. However the few cons that do have, are way to bothersome for me. The battery life is horrible to say the least, maybe in a full charge it would last 4-5 hours. The other problem is that the fan is to loud, not exaggerating sound as a fridge! The fan gets going as soon as I turn on the laptop, I am not even using it for 30 minutes and is all ready warm so the fan goes on. I am a college student, I need to use a computer for many hours straight and carry it with me to class rooms. But with this laptop I cannot do it, when I am at the library the computer noise is so distracting and loud that I cannot use it there. I didn't return in the first week because I wanted to give it a chance, after all I spend a lot of my own money on it. Also I though maybe I was used to the MacBook pro, so this new Dell was just different. But now after three months I totally dislike this laptop and I very much regret buying it. Now I am stock with this laptop I don't like at all. If you are a college student this laptop is not for you.

      REcas8,

Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear about the issues that you've been having with your new laptop so far. We'd recommend some of the following tips to help with the fan noise that you're experiencing: Here are some tips to help with fan noise -

      A: Cleaning the Vents
      1. Check the vents on the computer to see if they are covered with dust and not allowing heat and air to pass through.
      2. Turn off the system.
      3. Remove all power sources: Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery, or unplug the desktop power Cord.
      4. Use a compressed air can to blow the dust out of the vents. Be sure to hold the can at an upright angle (near 90 degrees), and hold it 15-20 centimeters (6-8 inches) away from the vent.

B: Update the BIOS: An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer.
