Not as expected....reviews were too good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop has been a source of frustration in the first few weeks of ownership. The accounts and signing in is very temperamental. The battery life is absolutely atrocious. It runs down quickly, even when in sleep mode. The touchscreen and mouse tracking pad are far too sensitive and I often zoom when I don't want to.

High frequency noise
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have ordered this high-end laptop online. Was very excited, as all specs, design and reviews were excellent. But after I turned it on, I was extremely disappointed. This lap top produced noticeable high frequency noise that was super annoying. The fun stuff is that the noise was changing when I move the mouse cursor (and that was making it even worse). Thanks Best Buy for you customer service and return policy. Turned it back the next day.

Don't buy this laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would say, please don't buy this laptop. After investing a lot of money for this laptop, just waste of money. 3 months after buying this laptop, it was not switching on, when I complained to best buy, they told I need to send it to manufacturer, Best buy is not ready to return. Best Buy told it will take 2-3 weeks to repair this but its more than 3 weeks now, just they are saying its under repair process. its stopping my work from 3 weeks even after spending a lot of money on this. Even resolution for this laptop is not good, every time you need to scale your resolution for anything like installation and opening any software. I would say don't buy Dell XPS.

Best purchase I've made in years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally was looking at a Lenovo Yoga i7 laptop but the store was having trouble finding the device I did an in store pickup for. While I was waiting, I came across a display for this Dell and was instantly in love. The Infinity display is absolutely beautiful and given the i7 processor, 16GB of memory and 512GB PCIe SSD, this computer flies and will last me for years. Some of the games I play are pretty graphic intensive and with the new Sky Lake processsor, the graphics have been much improved over the Haswell and Broadwell series which would have trouble once the processor heated up. But the Sky Lake series processor seems to do well under stress and it's a contender to my desktop. Which says a lot because I haven't been a fan of integrated graphics, but it has greatly improved over the years. I've read negative reviews for this from other sites about wireless and display driver crashing, but Dell and Intel have seemed to worked to resolve that issue because I haven't had any of those issues reported. I would recommend this device at this point since it's more stable than it was when it was originally announced.

Good but XPS 15 is a better option for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unless you need the smaller form factor, I would highly recommend the larger XPS 15 with full 4K display for a few hundred dollars more. Screen is ok, but not much better compared to the full HD model in my comparisons. Battery life is ok aswell, 6-8 hours of web browsing compared to the full HD model, where I get up to 14 hours. The glossy screen is something else you should also consider if you will be using the laptop outside or in bright environments. Reflects a lot more than the matte finish on the full HD model. Personally I'm returning this touchscreen model and going to stay with the lower priced full HD model as I don't need the larger ram or i7 processor. If you need the higher specs I would say go with XPS 15 for the larger screen and full 4K screen.

It's a no. Here's why.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. On paper, this laptop was perfect: I got the high-end i7/16GB/512GB model, in combination with the slick and light design, seemed like a perfect choice, despite the steep price (halfway to 2k). Here are the (seemingly silly, but wait till you tolerate them for hours each day) deal breakers: - After updating all software and drivers and running only the browser, the laptop gets extremely hot almost immediately, to the point where you can no longer keep it on your lap. Not so on other i7 machines. - Absurdly, the infamous 'coil whine' problem remains on this model, meaning if you're in a quiet room, you are constantly hearing hissing, whizzing, scratching noises from simply scrolling or basically any changes on the screen (search for this issue). This is simply unacceptable given the price and the presumed caliber of this machine. After a few days' use and experimenting, I didn't even get to test performance with any fancy software, since it was obvious I was unable to use this machine on the go (i.e. lap), given how incredibly hot it gets, or lounging quietly at home, due to the persistent hissing. There are models with comparable specs for much cheaper. They may not seems as posh, but this isn't either - it's just an imposter. Very disappointed at previously reputable Dell's lack of attention to engineering & design detail on their highest end model.

don't buy without also buying extended warranty
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.product is light and easy to carry around, but don't purchase without also including an extended warranty. Less than a year later you will become unhappy with this product as I did. After several hundred dollars in repairs because I did not purchase warranty. we are going back to the Apple.

Most overpriced, least reliable laptop I've owned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned this laptop for 4 painful, regretful months, and wish I could return it but Best Buy won't allow it because I'm outside of their return policy. I have no clue why this laptop gets a high rating, that's why I bought it but I find every forum discussing this laptop is rife with other owners complaining of these same issues. Right out of the box the resolution on this laptop does not play well with Windows, however, that's not really the fault of Dell's as much as Microsoft's, but either way expect that half the apps you run will be illegibly small or giant unless you constantly change your resolution or scaling settings, which requires a restart every time. And god forbid you want to run multiple apps at once side by side, then you're basically out of luck if they prefer different scaling settings. Quickbooks, for example, is completely unusable on this laptop without downgrading your resolution, which defeats the purpose of buying a laptop with great resolution. In my 2nd month with the laptop, it refused to start up on a business trip, leaving me with no laptop. I brought in to Geek Squad, they said they'd send it in for repair, with an ETA of 3 WEEKS!!! I use this all day, every day for work, what am I supposed to do with no computer for 3 weeks? Finally, I get the laptop back, and it will turn on. I'm not even sure what they did because there was no paperwork with the laptop when it was shipped back to my house. A month has since passed, and now, every time I connect it to my external monitor (which I've been doing with no issue since day one), the monitor flickers on and off at random. I've updated all the drivers, windows, replaced the HDMI cable and adapter, and tried other monitors, no luck. Now, I'm faced with needing another repair, but can't afford another 3-4 weeks with no laptop. That's the last time I'll be buying anything from Best Buy or Dell.
