Magnolia setup my Home Theater in my living room and master bedroom. I could not be happier with all of their ideas, selections and finished work. Do yourself a favor and go get a consultation. Professionals through and through!

I owned my first Denon AVR for 15 years. It would not die. I felt it was time to catch up with the current technology. It was a no brainer to choose another Denon AVR considering its reputation. I am very happy with my decision.

This is my second workhorse Denon receiver (replacing the monster 5800 avr). I loved the former but was limited by it’s predating hdmi. Trust me, this is a perfect upgrade and the price is unbelievable.

Great audio quality and coverage. Paired this with Control4 and the Denon - AVR 9.2-Ch receiver as well to power sound throughout my entire home. Denon can't be beat in quality of receivers

Has no problem dealing with any audio format being passed through from the Nvidia Shoeld TV. Handles 4K HDR much better than my previous Denon receiver (S510BT)

Great AVR. Only neg was the outputs on the back are a little crammed together, if using thick plugs.

I have had the Denon 3400 about a month now and I am highly satisfied with its performance. When I read reviews from others I always wonder how their situation fits my own so I am going to include a brief description of my listening environment along with my critique hoping that it may help someone. Seating is about 7 feet from the center speaker with another 10 feet behind the couch. The room has a cathedral ceiling that is 8 feet high on one end and 15 feet at the other which means there is lot of upward area for sound to get lost. I replaced an Onkyo 701 receiver connected to a Bose Acoustimass 10, series 3 speaker system. The Onkyo had served me well for 13 years but there were some things that made me want to think about looking for something new.
One reason was technology. The Onkyo had no HDMI, Bluetooth, or Ethernet connections. It performed well using the fiber optic for surround sound but there were only two inputs so it became inconvenient when I added a third device to the system. Denon has completely solved that problem. With 8 inputs I now have more than enough and get good quality picture and sound on all of them. Using HEOS to stream music is definitely a plus that I love.
The second reason was sound performance. By this I am mostly referring to power. The Onkyo did well, as I said, but to give you a reference, for many years the sweet spot for volume on a scale of 0-80 when it came to movies and 5.1 tv shows was 42. As time passed this increased to 45-50 depending on the source meaning I was always needing to go past 50% to listen to most entertainment. Increased use of closed captions was also necessary. Now I know my hearing has diminished over time but something didn’t seem right.
I paid $999 for the Onkyo which is the same price the Denon was going for before Best Buy dropped the price $200. You can’t realistically compare technology dollar for dollar after 13 years but since the Denon had the same basic specs as the Onkyo I was apprehensive whether it would make my situation much better. When Best Buy dropped the price I went ahead and made the plunge and, boy, am I glad that I did.
Setting up with Audyssey was a good beginning mostly to configure speaker distances but it was only the tip of the iceberg for getting the most out of the receiver. By the time I finished going through all the other sound settings (channel levels, dialog level, subwoofer level, surround parameters, input levels, and Audyssey settings) the sound was unbelievable. I still fiddle with the settings a little and moved my subwoofer a couple of feet away from the center to create a great listening experience. Power is no longer a problem, whatsoever. On a scale of 0-98 I am usually listening in a range from the mid-teens to mid-twenties and can hear clearly. Some mornings while my wife is still sleeping I like to go down to have my coffee and read the paper and listen to music. I want to keep it quiet to keep from disturbing her so I changed the mode from surround to stereo which softened it a bit but I still had to keep turning the volume down until I was at .5(that’s decimal point 5), the lowest I could go, and still I could hear the music plainly and the sound softly reached everywhere throughout our 2 story house.
I definitely recommend this receiver for anyone considering buying it.

105W per channel gives enough power for our 400sf home theater. Also the on-screen instruction makes easy to follow set up.
I love the sound and easy, simple operation.

I replaced an old Yamaha RX-V1 That retailed for $3399 many years ago. A few channels went out . Not happy. I Bought the Denon 3400 after reading a Review on AudioHolics web site. I have a lot of Hi-Fi wisdom. 35 years. I bought the Sony 4K XBR 900e with this Reciever. Set up the TV, did everything Correctly- And I went back to BestBuy and spoke with 3 different Very wise people. Everything is set-up 100% Correctly. When Trying to Set-up this receiver- It will Not show on the New TV Screen. Now I have to Call Denon to have them email me a software upgrade. Where I have to download it to a stick- and put into the New Denon. Pain in the -----.. I might just return it. I prefer Yamaha- But AudioHolics reviews are not very good on the Yamaha's in this price range. and I cannot afford Expensive equipement anymore.

Avoid if you use bluetooth

Doesn't actually support bluetooth. If you connect a BT device and it issues a connection the receiver will automatically switch to the BT input. Watching a movie...poof BT. Watching tv...poof BT! They insist this hijacking is perfectly fine and refuse to issue a fix despite having the setting to disable this on their *low end* models.
