Great sound
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sounds great most of the time, however, there seems to be a problem with no sound after a fast forward or rewind on a recorded show or even live TV if paused. I get no sound for a few seconds up to a minute or more. I watch most programs after recording, so this is a big problem for me. Geek Squad hooked it up, so it should be correct.

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The item works however it does not produce the sound the I desire for my music. My main reason for getting this item is that I was advised of it's multible feature capability however aI'm into music more than television. purchasing a subwoofer in hopes of addressing the problem.

Posted .We're very sorry for the poor experience. I would definitely connect a sub as that will add fullness to the audio. You also want to make sure you calibrate the system using the Audyssey software. This will allow you to EQ the room to get great tonal balance.

Just a basic system
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this receiver from the Magnolia store and thought it would be a great receiver. Once I hooked up the system, I was completely disappointed with the sound quality, and the overall functionallity of the system. when I would turn the system off and turn it back on, I would have to reset all the settings just to get the system back where its was at when I turned it off. I kept the system for a week and returned it hooking up my old receiver.

No Roku power on through CEC
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No complaints about overall functionality - I didn't get to use it long. Does NOT work with roku "1 touch play" (HDMI-CEC controlled power on) to power on the AVR when a button is pressed on the roku remote. It happily passes the signal through to the TV, which turns on. And this worked fine with all of my Onkyo equipment. The Roku is the only device attached, other than the TV. When powering OFF the TV, the Denon AVR successfully powers off through the same CEC controls. Similar the roku remote's CEC volume controls work. It's only power-on that doesn't work. That's a critical show-stopping feature for me.

Audyssey not so good.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to replace an older Yamaha that we were using in a new home setup. Setup was easy but never could get the Audyssey speaker calibration to work correctly. Yamaha has a similar calibration so I was familiar with the process. Even after numerous attempts and video tutorials, speaker calibration and sound were awful. Took it back and purchased another Yamaha which worked perfectly.

Couldn’t get the sound right for my taste.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought that I was upgrading when I purchased this receiver. My 4 year old Sony STRDN 1080 died recently, which I absolutely loved. As far as the Denon goes, I just couldn’t get the sound just right, I ran the setup multiple times and tweaked every single setting. It just has to harsh of a sound for my taste. I will be returning this and buying another Sony.

Posted .We're very sorry for the poor experience with the X1600H. We always tell our customers to match the AVR with the speakers you plan on using. If your speakers are designed to be very bright sounding, then you should go with a warmer sounding amplifier to balance that out. I would look at our sister brand Marantz as those amps are much warmer sounding than Denon. The SR5015 would be the equivalent to the X1600H.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cant get the speakers to all turn on at the same time. I press power on and only half the speakes come on. Then i press another button and the rest come on. In order to turn it up i have to switch back and forth to get the volume even so that it sounds good.

Bad connector
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Right out of the box a connector didn’t work. I could switch my surround sound speaker to a different connector and it would work fine but the front let connection doesn’t work no matter what I try

Posted .I would first check that the Front HDMI is assigned properly, especially if this was purchased as an open box unit from BB. Our Support team can help you troubleshoot the problem to see if it's a bad HDMI port.

Bluetooth issues
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked just fine for three months now I get a "please wait" message that never ends whenever I switch to the bluetooth function. Hopefully I don't run into more issues after I send back to Denon for repairs.

Major usability issue and very dated user interfac
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Returned my Yamaha and gave this Denon a tried because the Yamaha sounded a bit too bright for my test. Rather than messing around with the Yamaha EQ I decided to give this Denon a try as it's supposed to have the best auto calibration system out there still. I use a Harmony remote so the ease of access to different functions of the unit is vital. This Denon requires so many button presses to get to each setting. To turn on dynamic range compression you have to go thru layers of menu. Worst of all, the UI looks like it was designed in DOS and runs at 480p. That causes the TV to keep shifting resolution. The front display is also a mess. It has a much lower resolution than the Yamaha and has no scrolling effect for longer titles. I named one of my sources "Chromecast" and it just displays "DD+ Chrom". The Music "restorer" was way less useful than Yamaha's Enhancer, or even Onkyo's Music Optimizer. It also takes substantially longer to switch between different modes (for example toggling on/off Restorer or toggling on off DRC). That's an indication of a slow processor. Sound is OK, a bit better than Onkyo but inferior than Yamaha. I will be returning this thing yet again and go back to Yamaha. When it comes to user interface and experience, Yamaha does it right. Denon needs to hire new UI/UX designers to give their products an overhaul.

works good if it doesn't break
