This receiver had reviewed well, and given the price, thought it would be a great purchase. I was wrong. There are four problems with this receiver, from least important to most important.
Build Quality: Cheap plastic. This item is built worse than a toy record player. The knobs. The case. The feet. The remote control. All of it trash.
Output: The measurements are inflated. My 5 speakers require serious power. According to the specs, this product should do fine. Instead, it struggles filling my room with sound and runs insanely hot.
Software Problems: Sometimes sources are not recognized. Sometimes the sound stops. Initially I thought this was a cable problem. I have bought two sets of cables and can confidently say it is not the cables.
Denon: Best Buy only gives you 15 days to return a product. Beware. So I called Denon about the audio problems. They are useless. First, good luck finding someone that is technical. Second, once you reach them, they offer no help.
Stay away from this unit. Stay away from Best Buy’s terrible return policy. And, I will never buy a Denon product again.

Loud, picky about the hdmi, the HEOS feature is horribly painful to use, and occasionally the unit will do whatever it wants to (input selection will change by itself) occasionally the sound will stop working without any indication as to why.

Not sure. Had geek squad set up 8 weeks ago. Not set up properly. Despite 10 phone calls can’t get them to come back out. Only one sound mode works. Very frustrating

Less than two years after I purchased this receiver, it's dead . It's been very lightly used, never driven at high volumes, and it's always been plugged into a high quality surge suppressor and UPS. Tried to turn it on the other day and nothing, nada, no response. Not even the standby power light. I researched online and tried all of the remedies suggested, including pressing and holding the power button, unplugging everything from the rear panel, pressing the power button plus the tuner preset ch (+) and (-) buttons while plugging in the unit, rubbing my stomach and patting my head, wiggling my ears, clicking my heels together while chanting "there's no place like home" and the thing just sits there, completely unresponsive. I opened it up and I don't see any blown fuses, no fried capacitors or circuit boards, and no odor of burned electronics. Unresponsive is also what Denon customer service seems to be as they haven't bothered to respond to my e-mails or phone calls. So, into the dumpster it goes and I will be shopping for another brand of receiver.

The hdmi from my projector is not picking up any signal after less than 90 days, I tried more than 1 hdmi cable and get the same thing. This is a piece of junk and I want a refund. It started after the lastest firmware update

15 months after purchasing the HDMI ARC output is no longer working. Denon customer support won't return calls/email for warranty service. This is the second Denon AVR to have this issue. No longer buying Denon products

Please make sure the problem isn't rooted in unstable communication, most notably poor EDID negotiation. You can test the AVR by connecting to a different TV also using a different HDMI output cable. This will verify if the AVR's HDMI board is bad or shorted. Regarding Support, we apologize as we are currently severely understaffed. The best time to contact Support by phone would be at 10 AM EST. We also have a Chat feature on our website that should get you in touch with someone much sooner.
