Customers regard the AVR-X4500H highly, praising its exceptional sound quality, ease of use, and ample power for various speaker setups. Many appreciate the straightforward setup process and the extensive features, including multiple HDMI inputs and Dolby Atmos support. While some users noted the receiver runs warm under heavy use, the positive feedback on performance and features outweighs this concern. The receiver is considered a complete package for home theater enthusiasts.

I am a video/audio enthusiast with an electronics degree
I had this receiver for one year and one week, using it for once or twice a week and the I had the same problem of one other customer that it keeps turing off every time I try to turn it on
I think that a unit this expensive would give me a better service but NOT
I have been a SONY fan for 35 years and never had any issues with their receivers and they are not that expensive
Hope that DENON would take care of this problem, but to beegin I had to pay for the shiping of the receiver

Sound output varies from input. ARC connection creates extreme sound volume variances. This input should be improved or take out of the loop.

Upgrade from our previous Denon AVR. Works well and we use alexa to turn it on and play our play lists. Sound quality is great. Searching thru the menus can be a bit challenging at times.

Great AVR but remote is sub-par

I purchased this AVR-X4500H to replace an old Sony Dolby Surround receiver. The support for the new sound formats is awesome, and the sound quality is very good compared to my old Sony and Adcom system. It is at least as good if not better in audio quality and the surround effects are obviously much improved. My only real complaint so far would be the clunky (awkward & ill-proportioned) remote that lacks back-lighting. A few of the top buttons do light up, and the rest are semi-opaque so it would appear that they would light up if there was a bulb in the lower portion of the remote, which apparently there is not.
Having spent $1,600.00+ on a receiver and then having to fumble with the buttons in the dark while watching movies, hitting stop on accident instead of pause and having to restart a blu-ray etc, is really not acceptable in this price range and I just don't understand the logic behind such a simple thing that makes the whole system feel cheap.
I am now on the hunt for a back-lit universal remote that will give me semi-full functionality of the AVR and other components (Blu-ray, CD, TV). Does Denon have an in-house back-lit remote available that would work with this AVR? Sad to have a negative feeling about such an otherwise great receiver but at the moment I am having some buyer's remorse over this cheap remote.

Replaced my old Denon 3805 after 14 years with this updated receiver and so glad I did. The features are easy to use, like Apple Play and HEOS, and the sound quality is outstanding. The install team was wonderful to work with, connected other components and explained the basic functions on the remote and on the front face of the receiver as well.

Just got this receiver about a week ago and let me tell you. I have it paired with the older 600 series Bowers & Wilkins speakers and they absolutely love this receiver. Everything I listen to now either music or movies sounds amazing. Now I am coming from a low end Sony but still this receiver is amazing!!!!! Could not be happier with my purchase!!!!!

Receiver was great for 2 months. Then suddenly it will not turn on. Manual has three reasons for the problem and boils down to a failed amplifier circuit. Unacceptable quality for this price point and my three decades of loyalty to Denon receivers may well come to an end. It's a shame too because the sound quality of this unit really did deserve 5 stars.
