The purchased DENON Sound Bar was a good choice which was recommended by an employee of Best Buy. The audio sound and effects are very clear, crisp and awesome. All family members and friends who have watched the Samsung TV along with the DENON Sound Bar have provided positive comments on the sound effects.

Best Soundbar for <$1000 "Bar None"

After researching expert and customer reviews online, I headed to Best Buy to find a replacement for my ZVOX 580. I focused on the mid to upper range bars, but wanted to keep my budget under $1,000.
I listened to many, but kept coming back to the Denon. The only bar that surpassed it was the Sonos, but I refused to spend $700 each for the bar and sub. I also did not want a fabric grille, as they get dirty/damaged easily.
Setup was easy, as I ran the included optical cable to TV. Sub paired without issue. Not sure what all the fuss about connections are, as optical sounds great. I use the Music setting most of the time, and switch to Movies setting for action films. I set the sub at 3/4 volume, and balance is perfect. Even with under 200 watts total, there is plenty of room filling sound for open concept living rooms.
This unit has much better bass response, as well as an overall smoother sound and better volume attenuation than the ZVOX.
I recommend bringing your smartphone to listen to Pandora via bluetooth in the store, as the sound they pipe through the display models do not do this bar justice.

I had just moved to a new house. The LR, DR & Kitchen has a very open concept. At my old house I had my Denon receiver w/Def Tech surround. I had the wiring all hidden in walls/floors. The new house being more open I didn't want wires and nor did I want to drill holes in the new hardwood. A sound bar was the perfect answer. However, I needed something that would still be comparable to my current system.
This did the job. Good bass response, clear sound. Very easy to set up and use w/Bluetooth for Music. Very happy that it has and ARC HDMI output. My Denon receiver doesn't have this and everytime we turn the system on we would have to switch the inputs. Very nice because my wife hated that and now she doesn't have to worry about it. So I'd say it is wife friendly as well!!
I originally saw this @ $599. While a little out of the price I wanted to spend I was going to pull the trigger. It was just before black friday and I found this on sale for $399. I pulled the trigger and bought it for in-store pick up that day. About 2 weeks later, just out of curiosity I found that this went down another $50 and got BB to price match.
Overall, happy with my purchase. Not a complete surround sound as a 5 or 7 channel receiver but sounds great!!

Went to a local Best Buy store to look at sound bars. The store associate took me around the store looking at the various options. He suggested and claims he had the Denon DHTS514 and for the money was the best available. I will admit it did sound good, but the price tag was pretty steep at 599. I asked the associate if this model ever goes on sale. He said, it is in the Magnolia theater section and would most likely never go on sale. I decided to hold off on my decision and go back home to read some reviews online. When I logged in to the bestbuy site online- I noticed this same sound bar on sale for 399. I purchased online and had it shipped to my home. When received- the box looked like it had been opened. I examined the interior packaging and it clearly looked like a return. The wires were unrolled and looked like all the speakers had been used and re-packed. I went ahead and hooked up the system- to find that the power supply to the main sound bar was not powering up. I returned to the local BestBuy store and had them ordering me another unit for store pick-up. It did take another 6 days for them to receive; however, this unit looked much different and was clearly in the original packaging. I took it home and it was easy to install and sounds great. So, other than the faulty unit that was shipped to me- the price was right and the unit sounds great.

Installation was a breeze. I am enjoying the sound upgrade from TV speakers. I briefly listened to my son's ipod through Bluetooth, it was easy and great sound. I look forward to using it more for music in the future.

I did my research on soundbars for a good while and this one is by far the best. Had to return and LG and Samsung that were both half the price because was disappointed with sound quality and awful Bluetooth connections. Def worth the extra money to get the denon. Sounds as good as my surround sound in my living room. Sub is capable of rattling the walls when turned all the way up. Bluetooth doesn't break up even when I walk out of my room. Will get more denon products in the future.

We have always had Denon amplifier and surround sound speakers. Our new house will not allow me to run speaker wires so we picked this sound bar system. It works just great and don't notice any loss of sound enjoyment. Not over priced and great quality for what you pay.

I was looking at various Soundbars for over a week and came upon the Denon DHTS514. At first blush the Denon, technically, may not be superior to other higher priced Klipsch or Yamaha's but comparing while listening to them in person you won't hear a difference. The nice features of the Denon are the wireless Bluetooth subwoofer, and the HDMI ARC in for the soundbar itself. Overall, the sound is excellent. Very deep bass and clear highs. I ended up paying $399.99 because of a bestbuy deal of the day and I can honestly say it's well worth the price.

Of course it would be unfair to compare this to a home theater set up with book shelves and a center channel. however, it is the next best thing! the bass can be wireless and i've not noticed any lag time. the sound is phenomenal for a sound bar. this deal cannot be beaten. this product is currently $300 and i would suggest you get it now if you are on the fence about it. it is worth every penny. it has the magnolia home theater recognition and is well deserved. I like that i can bluetooth music to it when i'm not watching any television.

I bought this for my apartment and I am always worried neighbors will come knocking. This bar has a lot of power and dynamic range. I can't turn the bass more than halfway up, and the rest sits at a third most of the time.
Personally I enjoy the simple, utilitarian interface but if you are one to always want to see what's happening on a screen then this is definitely not it. At least you'll know nobody will change anything because they probably won't know how.
Now for the minor annoyances. I have my bar hooked through an Xbox One. When I turn on the Xbox it turns on everything (TV, bar, etc) but I have to manually change the input for the bar to go to the Xbox port each time. Also the power cord isn't too long (I suppose I can get another one though), so I had to rearrange a little. Lastly, there is no true equalizer. Because there is no real interface they have 3 preset settings (voice, center, full) so if you like to control things look elsewhere. I have mine on full and have had 0 issues. Likewise you cannot adjust the bass except by manually turning the knob. Again, I rarely have to change that and it's usually only when I'm watching a bass-heavy movie.
All minor annoyances but added together gives it only 4 stars instead of 5.

The sound is loud and clear, bass also packs a punch. Bluetooth is easy and can play songs from phone etc. The wireless sub is also great. Only downfall is that the mesh grill came off on two units I got and there is a 1 second delay on voices through the tv

Im a audiophile... spend thousands of $ on Audio systems and only post a review If Im really impressed with a product.
This is the best Soundbar in this price segment, and if you want anything better you need to goto 1400+$ price range.
Keep the Subwoofer as close to the Soundbar and it rocks.

The sound is big it takes a little tweaking to get it right. I still have a little trouble with balancing the soft voices and the big background noises. Watching a movie like Transformers is like a roller coaster ride, quiet anticipation on the way up and pure screaming and excitement on the way down. the night setting helps but the voice cuts out from time to time. All that being said I still do love the rich bass and clarity of the tone.

Like many, our TV is in the family room, so not a whole lot of room to place a good total cinema surround system. We were getting a beautiful picture from our Samsung 55-inch plasma, but it's sound reproduction was seriously lacking. After many reviews of bars in this price range, I went with the Denon. Ordering and shipping experience was easy and hassle-free. Set-up was even easier. We've been extremely satisfied since!

The DHTS514 finally went on sale around the holidays and I snapped it up for $399, an unbelievable price particularly since Denon rarely goes on sale. Overall I'm happy with it. It replaces two very large but very old Polk speakers and does it satisfactorily. My suggestion is to make sure you set the speaker audio mode to set what you are using it for -- otherwise there can be situations where, even with the subwoofer turned down, I found the sound to have a bit too much bass than I expected.

This sound bar sounds wonderful! I was very happy with how easy it was to set up. The people at best buy were extremely product knowledgeable which was helpful. The only downfall is the remote you have to have it pointed just right for it to work.
