My fiance and I caught part of this movie on TV and laughed so hard. We enjoyed the little we saw so much, that I bought it so we could watch it all any time we wanted! The movie itself is a lot of fun, as are the extras, and we don't even have kids. But we do have a nephew who is 5 and this movie gave us a lot of ammunition for buying presents (e.g., a minion that talks and f@rts! The f@rt blaster is on the list of presents for Christmas. His parents love us!) Anyway, back to the movie, it's nice to watch a fun, entertaining, clean movie and be a kid again. In addition, it's a very sweet story with well developed characters that you hope the best for. If you have just a little sense of humor, this movie will trigger it, and if you have a heart, this movie will touch it.

For my wife and I, this is our favorite one. Our kids however like Part 3 and Minions the best.

Love this movie! Steve Carell is the perfect voice of Gru, a "super villain" who tries to pull off the "Crime of the Century". To put his plan into fruition, he adopts 3 girls from an orphanage to use them so he can steal an item he needs to pull off his big caper. However, he ends up developing a bond with them, making him rethink what he really wants out of life. Of course, nobody can forget the big stars of the film: Gru's Minions. Great writing, and voice overs by Steve Carell, Jason Segal, Kristen Wiig, Will Arnett, and the great voice of Academy Award winning actress Julie Andrews!

Movies are always a very subjective thing to review. What one person loves, another will find horrible. So I'd recommend this: rent it. If it turns out that you're like me and enjoy this movie, then by all means do what I did: go out and buy it! I've probably seen this movie a dozen or more times, and I enjoy it each and every viewing. It's funny, cute, sweet, and has a great cast. It never fails to make me smile, and that alone is worth the price of buying it. I consider it one of my top 5 all-time favorites, and I'd never hesitate to recommend it to my family, friends, and acquaintances.

Bought this movie for my 2 year old son. He loves the minions, but the rest of the movie's characters keep his attention too. He's especially impressed with the bankers gigantic head! :D He's not exactly to the point where he fancies himself a movie critic, but he's definitely enjoying himself. I hadn't seen the movie myself when it hit theaters, and at this point I've watched the thing at least a half dozen times. I can only imagine how often we'll continue to watch it, but so far the story and inside jokes for adults haven't worn thin. :D It's holding up quite well to repeated viewing.

Most people probably already know about this movie, so the review is really for the 4k release. If you have not been exposed to Dolby Vision, it is a pleasure to see in this animated film. You need specific gear to watch Dolby Vision, but it's a treat. The same holds true for Despicable Me 2. I would recommend this movie for those wanting to finally use their Dolby Vision capable setup, but just haven't bought any Dolby Vision titles yet. The movie story is great on top of it.

Excellent entertaining family movie with a positive message for families about adoption & raising kids as a single working male parent trying to raise 3 adorable daughters whom he adopted out of convenience to get something @ first but soon finds himself falling head over heals in love with the girls & side tracking his plans to rule the world & FINALLY impress his mom as the worlds biggest super villain.The cute Minion hat that came with it was a bonus & my 3 y.o. daughter loves both the film & hat. =)

this is awesome to watch in 3D, amazing color and sounds effects

The original is almost always the best and that is true for Despicable Me. This movie is the real deal. It is chockful of laughs and, cliche or not, pays homage to all the great spy movie villians and minions...Wait, did I mention Minions? Whoever came up with these little fellas is pure genius! They are probably one of the funniest characters to grace animation and this movie is a great introduction for them. All in all, a great cinematic achievement worthy of any good movie collection!

While i purchased this 2D version of Despicable Me as a gift because it was on sale, i would very much recommend buying the 3D combo pack which includes ALL the disc included in this set, plus a 3D version which IMO, is the best way to watch! This movie has plenty of pop out in your face effects so the 3D version is the best way to go. But, if you don't have a 3D setup, this 2D version is an excellent way to watch as well! Blu Ray Quality is excellent as always with animated movies like this.
