Destiny is hands down the best multilayer game of the year; it boasts fluid mechanics, beautiful scenery, and a large variety of weapons and gear. Compared to games like COD, Titanfall, and Halo, Destiny stands out with its extremely customizable characters and play style. Destiny also includes a huge variety of game modes to fit all play styles

If you are looking for an incredible story or a deep experience look elsewhere. If you are looking for the best gameplay in a FPS where the core shooting mechanics are unmatched, then you'll enjoy Destiny. Game lacks overall in content and running the same content over and over is really what it's about, but the core gameplay is unmatched.

I have already logged about 30 hours of time into Destiny, and I've loved every second of it. The downside of the game is that you get the most out of it with playing with others, so if you enjoy single player experiences, with a deep story, I would pass on this. The gameplay itself is very fast-paced, constantly keeping you on your toes. Bungee has also been releasing new content post-launch.

Honestly I had a blast playing this game at first, which was surprising to me. I only begrudgingly bought the game at the behest of my friends who all owned it, and wanted to play with me. I'm not huge on multiplayer games, and especially not loot grind games, but I picked it up and gave it a shot. What I found was that I really enjoyed the experience for the first few days. I had a lot of fun playing around, finding things within the environment, and just hanging out with my friends. But then as I got higher up in levels all it seemed that there was left to do was grind through countless Strikes in order to progress, and the same friends that convinced me to get into the game were starting to get less involved themselves. So I was stuck playing countless multiplayer missions with people I didn't know, and often enough those people would just drop off without warning, leaving the remaining party with a rough road ahead of them. The game was a great deal of fun at first, but all too quickly it began to feel like work. But, gear grind games like this really aren't for me, so the fact that it drew me in as much as it did speaks volumes.

Whats left to say about destiny that anyone reading this hasn't heard before. All the negative feedback about the vanilla game and the 2 "expansions". I saw the disappointments coming after the first few days of the beta last july. The story, the characters, the events all felt hollow; even back then. But for some reason I wanted to keep playing. The fact is, its fun to play. All the play controls and handling, the firefights and pvp are all reminiscent of halo. However, the customization of armor, all the different weapons, class abilities and social aspect (fireteams, raids..) were new (in terms of not existing in halo). But in all honesty, the game fell short of expectations, which everyone has their own speculations about (mostly stemming from activision takeover). I think the future is brighter, but I also think they burned some bridges with allot of fans out there that may never return. I for one will continue playing when ttk comes out because I enjoy the game, simple as that. ..I can't help but think about what the game could've been if everything came together as bungie had planned all those years ago...

Beautiful graphics, easy controls, competitive online gameplay. Only thing that fell short was the story a bit but overall this game is instant fun and hours of Crucibal, Strikes and just trying to upgrade your Gaurdian to the next level. So that you can kick that kid but that just keeps killing you online. Enjoy it and can't wait for TTK!!!!

I have been awaiting the release of Destiny since I was first able to dive into the world of Travelers, Guardians, and Ghosts in the beta on PS4. Having played the beta extensively, and gotten addicted to even just the one world they had to offer, I knew that the full game would not only be fun, but also long lasting. The Story of the game is a basic sci-fi affair with good v.s. evil and legions standing between. It's nothing to write home about and some of the writing is particularly cheesy or flat out bad, but what the narration lacks in polish the world itself makes up in lore and world building. The game has an interesting story if you are willing to delve into it from all angles. Going online, using the companion app, reading the grimoire cards, etc. are all ways that the story of destiny reveals itself. That being said, the story mode of Destiny seems to be on the shorter side ranging from 6-10 hours depending on difficulty. Personally, I am pulled to explore levels meticulously and often find myself off track from the map going from point A to point B, but I take it as a good thing. I have seen a lot of people recently complain about the campaign length, but I don't think it's fair to complain about the length of the campaign missions when people are making a beeline to objectives without giving the world itself a proper look. With all that being said, the story seems to be the very beginning of the experiences that Destiny brings to the table. The Post-Story content unlocks when you hit level 20 (something I did before even finishing the story missions). From there on you are able to take on Daily/Weekly Strike missions that pit you against a difficult level with high level enemies and very low levels of survival, if you go at it alone. Strike playlists and Raids also unlock at level 20 and represent the brunt of post story content as each mode puts you and your friends in a scenario that could take hours to complete together. Similarly, hitting the soft-cap of level 20 allows you to start the hunt for equipment that not only boost your characters power, but also allow your character to continue leveling up via Light (a stat that is attached to gear which allows you to surpass the level 20 soft-cap). Suffice it to say that leveling is not the main goal of this game. The Crucible mode is Destiny's online versus mode and for what little I have played, I see that it is a well designed and meticulously crafted experience. In it's simplicity we can see the effort and attention to detail that each map holds. All playstyles feel welcome and all classes feel equally powerful and dangerous. It's a testament to the developers, Bungie, and their ability to craft a great competitive online experience. For all the great things that Destiny does there are some missteps that could use some correcting. Destiny is the world's first "shared world shooter" where your world is populated by people who you can interact with and take on missions with. however, the way you connect with these people feels clumsy and counter-intuitive. There is no general voice chat that allows for the hub to really feel alive and full of clamor and commotion, rather the silence of the Tower is jarring and makes for a lonely experience. Lastly, teams for the majority of the game max out at 3 members, making the 4th and 5th friend have to sit out or play on their own. I can understand the decision has a lot to do with balance, cohesion with the 3 different Guardian classes, and playability, but it would have been nice to play with and communicate with more people at the same time. Overall, I feel like Destiny has lived up to everything that I expected. Being a beta tester my expectations were tempered by the actual gameplay and not marketing, hype, or misinformation. I knew what I was getting into and I knew I would love it. Turns out I was right. Destiny is providing me with a great co-op experience that I jump into head first whenever I get the chance. It's a great game to play with friends, and a great game to make new friends in. It's a solid FPS, with great mechanics and a beautiful world that beckons to be explored and understood. The story could be better, but the lore and world building seem top-notch. If you are looking for a game to play with friends that offers excellent replay value and a addicting gameplay, then you are at the right place.

My son had to have this game, plus the expansion pack. As soon as he got it, he was playing it with his friends over the internet. They all love this game. Apparently, it has a lot of variations, so they can keep playing for a long time, unlike some games, like the Last of Us, which is a great game but he got tired of it once he completed it. It's a shooting game, but not bloody like GTA V. Generally, I don't like him to spend so much time playing video games, but this one he plays with friends from school that he otherwise would not be able to see because they live a little too far away. They talk to each other with the headset. He also plays with kids that he may not otherwise have spent much time with. I was surprised at how many kids (teenagers) have PS4. Some also have Xbox One, although it's very similar, and they probably all have Wii from when they were younger. But PS4 seems to be most popular right now. Before he got the PS4 and Destiny and a few other games, my son said he felt left out when the other kids in his circle talked about these games, and now it helps him take part in the conversations.

It's better than Halo in my opinion but that isn't saying a whole lot. The game-play is better than Halo but that's about it for me. The story makes absolutely no sense; you might as well just skip the cut scenes. If you aren't buying DLC then you will be left out int he cold for raids and missions like that. All the gear that can be had in the shops is geared towards DLC purchasers. Vanilla game you can level to 34 but all the gear in the stores currently is for level 40 only. After I finished the story and a couple raids, leveled to 34, I was done. So about 8-10 hours and I had had enough. I might go back one day after Taken King is much cheaper though. I bought it for about $15 so I can't complain about much other than it being very DLC driven.

This is one fantastic game. My only criticism is that because of a too short story, you're forced to play cooperatively to advance to the highest ranks. If your ok with that, I'm not sure it could be a better game. Beautifully rendered with lots of different bad guys, very good AI, and a creative advancement system.

Let me preface this by saying that this is my first game by Bungie. I've always been a Playstation guy but with this generation I made the jump to Xbox 1. I've loved playing BF 3 and 4 was pretty good but not as fun as 3. So after playing those games for a while I began to get bored. Destiny looked to be a game that could replace BF for me. The demo for Destiny was fun but the game itself ended up not living up to the hype. The campaign was fun for about a week as it only takes you about that long to finish it. Then if you want to level up your character you have to endlessly grind out the same missions you've already done over and over and over. Beyond boring. "But wait all you have to do is buy the DLC when it comes out and it will have more missions to do." So I have to give you even more money to get a more complete game experience? No frickin way!!! I tried playing PVP a few times and I hated that game mode. The matches seem so unbalanced that I just ended up getting whooped most of the time. Destiny would be a lot more fun if the campaign didn't feel like half a game. Apparently there was a lot more content initially planned but Activision decided to take much of it out and make it DLC. Thanks for promising a game with a rich storyline and content and not delivering! The game is designed so that you have to play with others to be successful on the harder missions but unless you have a group of friends to play with you end up being thrown into games with randoms. And to make things even worse you can't speak to the people you're playing with if they aren't on your friends list. So that means that there is no way for you to play the game tactically. All you can do is "point", "wave" or "dance" with the others in your party. Also after playing the game for about a month and FINALLY saving up enough money to buy an epic helmet engram, (the item used to create a piece of armor for your character), I took it to the Cryptarch to be encoded and he turned it into a helmet for one of the other classes in the game so my character couldn't even use it!!!!! The totally random aspect of item drops and loot in this game is beyond frustrating. So after slogging through the same missions about 20 times each I finally got my character up to level 26. Then I realized that to be able to go any higher would require another month or so of doing the same freakin' thing. No way Bungie! I ended up exchanging the game for The Evil Within. Gamestop has even reduced the amount of money they will give you for Destiny to $35 because they are getting so many returned. I'm done with this game and I'm done with Bungie. If this is the way that they release games, (half a games' worth of content for full price), I'm never buying another game from Bungie again.

My friend plays Destiny casually and I was helping her through a mission the other day when she noted, "This game is terrible. Like serious, it's repetitive and really boring.... Why do I keep playing?".... When then continued to play for another two hours and are playing again tonight. I don't think I would recommend this game to a friend, yet I keep playing this game. Why? Why?! Well... The controls are more than great for one. I've played two different character classes in the game and both have a different feel. That said, what the characters actually do in the game, the missions, ect. , is boring. The actual game (the story) takes about 6 hours to beat. You are then forced to replay the same levels over and over to find ways to upgrade your character. Why would you want to upgrade your character when the story is over? To collected it all! To be (seem) the best!... but really, you try to upgrade your character after the story is over so you can play a substantially more fun "raid" level (mode) of the game. It will take days worth of hours to be able to level up your character enough to play the raid. The raid is unique, fun, has cool puzzles and requires team work and is thus the best thing in Destiny. And that's the main problem with the game. The best content is only reached after you repeatedly grind away at playing the same levels over and over and over for days. But I keep playing. I keep playing because I'm ignorant and because of the cooperative aspects of the game. Cooperative aspects highlighted best by (you guessed it) the raid mode. Ok, I also keep playing for pride as it's fun to try to collect new rare gear. It's fun to make your character the best it can be in the game so you kick butt that much harder. It's fun when you are kicking butt harder and you thus help your team that much more. It's fun to connect and play cooperatively with friends and make new friends around the country. At the end of the day, even though Destiny is repetitive and boring....There is that other hour each week I play destiny when new goals come out and my friends and I can do the raid again and get new gear. Those times, getting together with others, makes the grind more bearable and almost enjoyable as we are all suffering together. Hoping that with great game mechanics at hand, the game will one day be so much more. Destiny can be so much more, the mechanics are there. To be so much more is the game's... Destiny.

This is like Halo and WOW mated and had a kid. The game is fun, action packed, and a pretty decent concept. The story is extremely lacking and it has the grinding problem you get with MMORPGs. It's a lot more fun when you play with friends.

The gameplay is awesome, PvP is fun, raids are amazing (though I can see how they will get repetitive). Story is lacking, expected more from Bungie in that department. Overall definitely worth playing. Skills are very fun. Nova bomb ftw

I really like the gameplay, being able to see other players running around and joining in when they're doing missions in the same area. The weapons and armor are awesome. Mars is really boring though. I only have one complaint; you level up too slow. It got to a point where my next mission was asking for level 18 and I was only level 15. It would have been too hard for me to do the mission without leveling, but I didn't want to have to do patrol missions or play against other players to level up. I ended up trading it back in at this point. I just want to play through the missions, not grind a bunch of side stuff in order to keep up with the mission levels. I'd still recommend buying it as long as you don't mind the grind.

It is a cool multiplayer experience, compared to that of Call of Duty. Although after too many games it starts to get repetitive, but alas it is a good game to play with friends. The story is not at all good.

Was a huge fam of the halo series. This game is just fun. Being able to play the story with your friends is a plus. Controls while running need some work. A little non responsive. Just being able to only take 3 people into the story mode kinda blows. 6 people for most crucible matches, but everything else only 3. Online matchmaking needs work too. Put you in there with too many high ranked players instead of players closer to your own level. Other than the the graphics are top notch. It's a beautiful game. All my online friends have already bought the game.

Many people believe Destiny did not live up to the hype. I will admit that the story comes up a little short, but the controls and game play are great. Shooting aliens in the head never seems to get old.

Destiny is a game that blends elements of RPG, Sci-fi shooter, and MMO. The gameplay can be pretty fun, the enemies are enjoyable (PVP if that's your thing!), but the story is delivered through cutscene or a card that you have to read online. The methods of socializing are severely limited, which makes interacting with other players something that really only happens on the internet. The game is fun enough. Even if you have to grind near the end and look to the internet for some basic social functions and the actual story of the game, there is an interesting game at the core.

The graphics are very good and the multiplayer, both raids and pvp is fun. I only play it with friends. The story is very lackluster and has many repetitive missions. Also a lot of grinding involved.
