This will improve lighting for online presence

I was a bit skeptical of how much a light could really do to improve how you are seen by others, when you are online. I was very surprised to see how much of a difference this light makes. To include all the pics, I won't be able to include the unit pictures, but you can see for yourself how you think the light changes how you are seen online. It only makes sense, Hollywood, photographers, etc. all use lighting to improve pictures, so why not anyone else? Up until now there hasn't been as much emphasis on lights for this purpose. And in this case, this light is portable, since it has a rechargeable battery that lets you take it with you for when you don't have an outlet nearby. It also includes a very handy remote control that lets you change the lighting temperature (color of light) and the amount of light. By making these changes while in front of the camera, using the remote, you can achieve the lighting most suitable for your situation. Since I'm not much to look at, I had my son't girlfriend take some snaps while doing some online presence stuff and you can judge for yourself how you see the light improving your pics/conference calls/reviews/etc. I think you'll see a big difference as I have. Highlights normally missed. This light can also be used for a task light on the go, for other hobbies and such. But for it's originally intended purpose, it's really decent!

Being a content creator, lighting can be a constant struggle. It doesn't matter how great the content is or how expensive a camera you have, if it's too dark for people to see anything they're just not going to watch it. Personally, it's an even bigger struggle because of the type of content I focus on, which revolves around cars...and inside cars, under cars, cars in a garage, cars outside, cars at night. Basically a lot of situations where lighting is a problem. Then this light came along and it has made my life so much easier, and more importantly, my content so much better. The best thing about this light, and the main reason for making my life easier, is just how versatile it is. There's all sorts of adjustments you can make, both mechanically and functionally. You can extend 2 of the light bars out to make it look like a Flux Capacitor or just extend 1 arm out to make a longer light bar. You can keep them in the full closed position to make it the size of a small flashlight, but one that puts out light in every direction around it. The base is flat to where it can stand on its own, or it can be held. I've even used the movable light arms as hooks. In addition to all that, it even has a threaded hole to use with a tripod or other mount. Then there's the light itself. You can adjust the brightness, the warmth, and the number of lighted arms to turn on. All of this adjustability is a HUGE plus for me as I can make it work for just about any situation I'm filming in. It's not going to light up an entire room, but in small spaces and areas it's perfect. It also comes with a small remote, which I honestly wasn't too excited about at first. I was worried about losing it easily and wasn't even sure why it's even needed. The design of it is genius however and I quickly understood why it became necessary. First, it attaches magnetically to the light itself, and in a way that you wouldn't even know it's there. Being around METAL cars, the remote being magnetic opens up even more options for places to put it. Second, it makes adjusting the lights easier and less cumbersome than using the buttons on the light itself. The light seems to be more responsive to the remote as well than with the buttons. Finally, it gives you the ability to setup the light and then use it without accidentally knocking it out of position. I really don't have much negative to say about this light. It checks just about every box, especially for helping me with my youtube channel. If I had one negative thing to say, and this is more just feedback that would make it better, is that it would have been nice if the 2 light bars that extend out had some sort of swivel at the base. That would make them a bit more maneuverable. Other than that, this is almost a perfect little light. Oh, and it packs nicely when you're on the move!

The Digipower Trimate video call vlogging light has been my gateway into a world of video lighting. It’s convenient, portable, bright, and has a long-lasting battery. The Trimate’s ease of use and portability makes it great for vlogging or video conferencing. It’s an easy recommendation provided you’re okay with a few finicky features. Also, I highly recommend a tripod for stability. I should say upfront that I received the Trimate for the purposes of providing a fair and unbiased review. Included with the kit, you get the charging cable, the magnetic remote, and the light unit. I found that the device did not want to charge correctly unless I used the included USB-A to USB-C cable. Not sure why that is, but I wouldn’t recommend losing the cable. The light is surprisingly customizable. With 162 LED lights, the Trimate gets very bright. For me, it was almost too bright on most settings. You’ll have to play around and find the settings that work best for you and your filming area, but by default it was too bright and would wash me out. I used it primarily as a key light, but you could probably easily use it for filler or backlighting. Unfortunately, settings don’t save between power on and off. Every time I turned the Trimate on, I had to re-click through the various settings to get back to the setting I liked. The light really needs a good tripod so you can get the right height. It obviously works without a tripod, but a solid tripod really does wonders for stability and helping to achieve the right effect. I like the remote, but it's small. Not all the features can be controlled without the remote. So, make sure you don't lose that magnetic remote. Battery life has been good. It took a few hours to fully charge, but I left it running for four hours on the default setting and it was still running when I came back. It doesn’t get particularly hot or warm. In conclusion, I feel like this light is nice for vloggers and folks needing more illumination during video conferencing. The controls and the need to click through all the settings each time I turn it on are a bit annoying, but it’s functional. The whole thing works and it functions well enough for me to easily recommend it.

This light is quite handy for a variety of uses. If you use it for videos or pics it has a handy remote included that is also magnetic to the end. The one draw back is the light has no real base to stand on, so if you pull out the two adjustable light blades it will fall over unless they are fully extended and leveled. I bought an inexpensive, adjustable leg tripod, which will thread into the bottom of the light. Overall, this is a great light and has different brightness settings with a long lasting battery.

This vlogging light is great. I put it through its paces for the last few weeks and it exceeded my expectations. This light feels well built and sturdy. The hinge feels like it was created with durability in mind. I’m generally not super careful with my things so it is definitely important to me that it won’t break easily. I also love that it collapses down to the side of a flashlight—it makes it super portable. The battery life on the device is great. I charged the light as soon as I got it and didn’t have to charge it again during the course of the review. The light is easy to use. On the light itself there is a power button and a brightness button. One of those buttons also doubles as a button to charge the temperature. The light also comes with a remote that magnetically affixes itself to the bottom of the light, but I personally didn’t find it to be super useful. I could see it being useful to someone who has photoshoot alone and with changing conditions. The brightness on the light is great. I took a few close ups with it and it did a great job at removing face shadows. Another thing I really liked about this light was that it includes 3 different temperature settings without the need to carry around filters. Because of the temperature settings it doesn’t cause my photos to appear washed out. I also brought this light to a party in order to improve our selfie quality, and response was overwhelmingly positive. Overall, I was very happy with this product and look forward to continue to using it.

DigiPower—A name in lighting I knew nothing about

It’s always nice to find a new brand with potential. Especially when you're juggling the same few brands you’re comfortable with. The DigiPower Trimate is built well. In its closed form it should withstand any fall from your typical surface such as a desk or dresser. Unfolded, I’d be a little more concerned about it however. The Trimate is also very small in comparison with your typical ring light as most ring lights take up a decent amount of space and offer no way of closing them. The biggest drawback to it is there’s nothing included with it other than the magnetic remote and charging cable. It’s a more elegant, simplistic, and space saving option over your typical ring light, while also being the more expensive route. The biggest advantage, outside of space, is its included rechargeable battery, as I’ve yet to see a ring light with a battery built in. It’s 5 brightness levels are excellent for practically any setup, even for use cases not specifically related to streaming/video chat. The same day this arrived I had a PC project across the table which this thing helped me putting together. All in all, I’ve used it for roughly 10 hours over the span of about 4 days and it is still going strong. Having the option to switch from 3 light arms to 2 and even 1 helps it conserve charge for where you need it to shine. Charging the first time took an extremely long time. I suspect a subsequent charge to take just as long.

Because I have been working from home for over a year (due to Covid-19), my company recently mailed me a webcam to increase engagement during online meetings. I have rather dim lighting in my home office and so I thought that this Video Call Vlogging Light would help improve clarity and video quality. The light is certainly bright, but it is uneven and looks unnatural (regardless of the color, or brightness options). Within 10 seconds of my first use, my boss said that I looked like I was telling a scary story around a campfire. (We have a good relationship - don’t worry. I didn’t feel the need to take him to HR.) The light is okay, but the list of things I don’t like outweighs the usefulness of this tool. I appreciate that the device charges via USB-C, but I don’t like that the charging port is on the bottom of the device. There is no way to see how much battery power is remaining and because the charging port is on the bottom, it cannot be charged while in use (even if mounted on a tripod). I like that the remote is held to the bottom with magnets, but there is nowhere to store the remote when the light is in use. It would be nice if the remote could also magnetize to the top (even though the pivot joints would probably be in the way). The remote sensor is also easily blocked which renders the remote useless. My keyboard frequently blocks the sensor, so if I want to adjust lighting while on a call, I have to lift the remote high enough for a line of sight connection to be made. I hate unfolding the light. The little groves that allow you to grab one of the 3 sections are extremely shallow and difficult to find/grab. I also hate using the buttons on the light itself. To power on the device (without using the remote) you have to hold down the power button for four seconds. This doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it makes the device feel extremely unresponsive. For such a simple tool, it is surprisingly awkward to use. When a user picks up the device, they fumble with it every time. The first question is, “How do I unfold this thing?” Then comes, “Why doesn’t the power button work?” This tool certainly will provide a lot of light, but it is not well balanced, it casts too many shadows, and the color of the lighting is unnatural (in all three modes). Even in my dimly lit office, I simply prefer to go without this vlogging light. Take a look at the attached comparison photos of me in my office for an example of the actual results of this light. If you are a serious vlogger, go with a ring light. If you simply want better lighting in your office, use a brighter bulb - or just get a desk lamp. The results will be just as good.

Very nice light source for multiple purposes. Indeed it does work nicely to make your appearance at online meetings much nicer. Most people have overhead lighting but with this device you get a clearer video both of facial and presentation boards (which are still used sometimes). The construction is solid and the design points are excellent. You have 3 color temperatures, 5 brightness levels, flashing mode and the ability to utilize one, two or three light panels. It comes with a small remote which is essential for changing the controls of the light which you put behind your laptop while you sit in front of your laptop for example and observe the changes. You can also control the light from on board switches. It has a C-USB connector for recharging the long-lasting lithium batteries. It comes with a small foldout which is all you need for directions. The documentation says you can use it without a tripod but it is not stable enough in my opinion. The base has the tripod camera standard mount and I used a medium sized tripod and that worked great. I also used it above my pottery wheel and with my wood lathe and it greatly enhanced my visibility while working – so it has a lot of uses with its 162 LEDs. I do recommend this unit for online meetings and other lighting needs. Great product.

This is a modern day necessity that you didn't even know you were missing! A ton of communication is nonverbal. How you present yourself (in the real world and online) matters. People form opinions of us even if they don't know they are. This little ingenious light allows me to put my best digital foot forward when it comes to virtual meetings. I would imagine Vloggers, content providers, social media influencers would also love such a portable option as opposed to a room set up for on the go tiks ect.. The portability and flexibility of the light is really impressive! Note: you will for sure need a small tripod stand when you buy (see pics). I attend and conduct a lot of online meetings (especially lately with the pandemic) and this little light really helps me look professional. A great meeting hosted by a technical novice undermines the message and training and really makes it hard for others to focus! The unit comes with a remote that attaches to the base. The remote is responsive and easy to use. The unit has three light profiles a bright white a warmer red and a natural light. It also have 5 brightness settings which is really important. Sometimes due to ambient lighting you just need a slight bump of light but sometimes you really need to let the sun kiss your face and this little light can do that!!! You can also turn off any one of the three "limbs" as needed for whatever look you are going for light wise. Nice. The natural light is my favorite and really looks good for most of my needs on calls and meetings. The light's design with having the three "limbs", if you will, is so innovative. Good lighting has light bath you from different angles to create context and cut out shadows you don't want for contouring. This unit is so maneuverable and allows you do that so easily without taking up a whole desk! You can't get the wrong angle! It's also easy to charge and store. BONUS: I also found that it is great for a small hobby light as well. for putting together models or small tasks you might need some light on! I love multifunctionality on devices, it adds to the overall ownership value for me! It's a must have for anyone that wants to look their best online!!! What an innovative product!!! The only thing I can say negative is that they should have dropped in a a little tripod!

BUILD QUALITY: This guy is solid and feels very well made. It is mostly made from plastic but high quality plastic that has a good weight in the hand, and nothing creaks or feels like it will easily break. When moving the lights there are little notches that you can feel, and the movements are smooth and easy. With the location of the lights, you can get a bit creative. But at the same time are a little strange. The bottom has rubber, so you don’t damage surfaces and makes it stick in place. It has a female mounting screw to place on a tripod or similar. USB C for charging and takes about two hours to charge which isn’t too shabby. Overall, absolutely no complaints here. CONTROLS: I’m not a big fan of the onboard controls and wish they would have given us more buttons instead of limiting them to two. If you hold the power button for 5 seconds it will turn on. Which to me seems like a long time. They probably did this so it doesn’t accidently turn on in your bag since it doesn’t come with a case. If you single press the power button after it is on it will go through the three brightness settings (warm, medium, cool) but doesn’t report the exact color brightness anywhere which makes it harder to match up to other lights. If you single press the brightness button it will change the brightness in five stages. If you hold the brightness button for 3 seconds it will turn off the main front light (on the bottom that doesn’t move) and turn on the two lights that are adjustable on the joints. If you hold it for another 3 seconds it will switch to just the stationary light to be on (the one not on hinges). Then hold it again for 3 seconds to turn back on all the lights. If you hold the brightness button for 5 seconds it will go into a flashing light mode where it will cycle through the different color temperatures. I’m kind of at a loss of why that’s even feature. Overall, I’m not a fan of the onboard controls. It just seems to take a long time to do anything. If you turn the device off and turn it back on again it goes back to stock settings instead of remembering what you had set last. Which is probably the biggest disappointment. The included magnetic remote is pretty sweet. Its small so if you are prone to losing things, I’m sorry. Button presses feel good. It is very responsive where everything happens nearly instantly. But does use IR which means if you don’t have a direct line of sight it doesn’t work. But if you do it can work from a long distance away. I was able to make it work from 30 feet away which the specs report. You just need to make sure the line of sight is correct. In the end the remote is the way to go when changing settings and turning it on/off. I like that it magnetically attaches to the bottom of the device. USE CASES: I honestly see this light more as a side light over a main light. It would work just fine for a main light, but the lighting may be a bit weird just based on how it comes out. It does a great job as background lighting either for silhouetting or putting it on a bookshelf to add some hidden light to spice up your background. It also works extremely well as a directed light to shine light on a specific area. I also, like that you can just place it on a desk to add some accent lighting as well. So, for my purposes I found I kept grabbing it to spice things up instead of using it as primary lighting. But if you use it as primary lighting the nice thing is that it is small so you can easily tuck it away when not using it. PROS: - Small form factor and good build quality makes it great for a portable light - Great for secondary/side/accent lighting. - Good Battery Life, USB C charging, 2 hour charge time. - Included magnetic remote that attaches to the bottom of the device. It is indented to prevent pressing buttons. - Bottom of the light has rubber so it doesn’t scratch the surface you place it on. - Can stand up by itself. But also has tripod mounts if needed - Can use 2 lights, 1 light, or all three lights. - Can change color temperature from warm, medium, or cool - 5 level brightness control CONS: - No RGB - Starts off too bright and then gets brighter. Would have preferred more control here. - Wish you could select which light would turn on/off instead they are preselected. - Does not save last known settings. So, you must adjust every time. - Does not mention the exact color temperature which makes it hard to match to other lights. - On board controls are clunky and take a long time to activate. Better to use the remote. - Those who lose things will likely lose the remote. - It would have been nice to have an attachment in the middle where you could place a webcam. - Heavy enough that it will weigh down your camera and should be used separately.

Review of Digipower - Trimate - Video Call Vlogging Light With Wireless Remote - Black In nutshell, it consist of rechargeable 3 Arm Adjustable 162 LED light. 2850mah Li-ion Battery. Provides up to 16 hours of continuous use. 162LEDs, 5 brightness settings & 3 color temperature modes. Includes magnetic wireless remote (works up to 30ft). — (extract from product summary) Beforehand, it takes about 2 hours for full charge. On its main purpose, it does lighten the person well during video calling/meeting due to its 3 arms length of 1/2ft each. It can be controlled to adjust brightness and color temperature. Adjusting color and brightness works based on how many are on, by combination of 1, 2 or 3. Each arm can have different position and angle as best suitable to the situation. Then it is has good standing and firm. However, it has following shortcoming: 1. Flexibility of arms is limited to upside and downside mode. Each arm cannot be rotated for better adjustment of the angle. 2. Wireless controller has to be used at almost next to the light, at most length of hand without interference in between. If not doesn’t respond to the action from the wireless controller. 3. For case of use of switching from some or all of lights to fewer or all of lights while having one of brightness and color temperature setting, it require to adjust again. Ie. Initial setting is three lights, with brightness level low and color temperature warm. Switching to two lights, it reset to default setting, so need to redo the adjustment to brightness level low and color temperature warm. Hence, it doesn’t retain the setting as switch between number of lights on/off 4. It is best used with additional accessories to place at higher level from eye level, like a tripod or a stand. This is because placing necessary close distance to light the face, for sensible eyes to light become uncomfortable moreover for long hour of meeting. 5. The wireless controller cannot be placed with the the light while being charged. This is because the magnet is placed at the bottom that has the USB port for charging. Similarly, during the meeting it has to keep separated and easy to forget and loose it. 6. Its weight is bit heavy for personal preference for mobility. Although it might be the condition needed to deliver brightness and color temperature option and make rechargeable, if consider placing together with other charges and notebook etc, it is add up enough to say the bag become heavier. In summary it is good to have and offer nice control to adjust to different user preferences. Due to its design I find it can be used for variety of situation not only limited to the video meeting as it can be carried from one place to another with ease. If wouldn’t be for the downside described above could have been perfect.

I was really impressed when I opened the box, the light feels nice and solid in the hand and although it's mostly plastic, it doesn't feel cheap. I had to charge it up before I could use it so I tried to plug it into my Galaxy phone charger cord but it wouldn't charge. Even though it's a USB C charge port, it didn't want to charge on the Samsung USB C charger. When I plugged the included USB C cord that came with the light into a generic USB charger the light charged right up. Once it had a full charge I removed the small included wireless remote and took the film off of the included battery and turned on the light and cycled through it's various options. I was pleasantly surprised at how many different settings could be achieved. It can have 1, 2, or all 3 lights lit up, and has 5 different levels of brightness. Plus it can be changed from normal mode, to either a cool white light mode, or a warm slightly yellow light. The little remote has a magnet inside of it and sticks to the bottom of the light for storage but it will also stick to any magnetic surface as well. The light itself has a 1/4-20 female threaded insert that is compatible with standard camera gear of the same thread. I threaded on a mini tripod that I had lying around and posed the light on my pool table to snap a few pictures in various configurations.. I really like this little light and it will be a valuable addition to my camera gear. The only issues I have with it are the weird charger cable thing, and the remote is a bit temperamental, it stopped working for a while even though I could see the little green light on the remote blinking, the Digipower Trimate was not responding. I took the battery out of the remote, put in a brand new one, and that didn't help so I put the original battery back in and then it started working again and seemed to be fine and continues to work fine now. I would recommend this light to anyone who needs a versatile lighting solution for photography, video recording, online meetings, vlogs, live streams etc...

This light is absolute money. When paired with a tripod, this light can do almost anything a normal light source can produce. Sure, it’s marketed for vlogging/streaming/zooming, but if you think out of the box and actually use it as an everyday light, this thing is amazing! So far, I’ve been able to provide myself with light when working on my PC, snap nice photos of friends and family when the light was too dim and even use it as a night light for my little one. I even had it propped on my tripod during a Zoom call interview with a potential employer. The battery life surprised me; using the level 3 brightness setting (there are 5 brightness levels total), it was able to provide full light for as long as 7 full hours. That is more than enough time for any one thing, and you can probably squeeze in another handful of hours in the lower brightness settings and light modes. The body itself has three main light panels that can be switched to all on, 2 panels on or a single panel active. You can play with the positioning of the light panels by swinging the panels open like butterfly doors on a Lambo. Then there’s another axis that will allow you to swing those panels farther forward. It also has three color settings (cool, cool/warm, warm) to supplement any light source you currently have. The unit comes with a remote control that is of the traditional IR blaster that needs line of sight to the light. The remote will allow panel modes and color modes. These modes cannot be changed on the body itself. You can only power on/off the unit and change brightness right off the unit. So don’t lose the magnetically attached remote!! If I had one complaint, it's that the USB-C port is on the bottom of the unit. Yes, you can have the light on while it's charging, but you can't stand the unit normally or even mount it on a tripod while the charge cable is plugged in. That's about it. I recommend this light.

Great light source. Bright and numerous options, from different angles, differnet segments to turn off and on, also different leves of brightness and color temp. It has a remote as well.

I bought this on sale but it’s actully really nice and handy. The light gets quite bright and to be able to move the lights around as well as have 1-3 of the lights on/off is great as well

The lighting is good and i appreciate that its adjustable but it doesnt hold a charge for long and fights me about turning on regardless of which power button i use. I like the remote but its odd that the device itself doesnt offer the same functions without it
