This Game Is No Disaster

While its flawed & dated in many games, I'm happy to report that this game isn't a disaster.
When you first start Disaster Report 4, there's chaos around you as buildings collapse, but the gameplay seems rather slow & boring. Run around, find a person who needs help, help said person, rinse & repeat. But after about 2 hours, particularly around the ferry area & beyond, it really starts to pick up. Not only does the game get prettier to look at, as the water & rain areas generally look very nice with the lighting & reflections on display, but the gameplay becomes more exciting, too, and there's a lot more destruction.
There's also some fun storytelling here with quirky characters, some troubling characters in a subway station, and the game often gives you narrative choices. How do you react to a person? It's up to you. Do you act nice? Do you tell people to fend for themselves? Do you offer help? Do you steal? How you act matters.
There's really no other game like Disaster Report. Are there more polished games? Yes -- but Disaster Report fills a niche that I think needs to be filled. The flashy destruction mixed with light survival elements (don't get scared if you hate survival games because so do I), narrative choice, and more, really come together to create something unlike anything else. Give it a try. If you do, give it a few hours, as I believe it does get better.

I see great potential in Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories! I do think that there will be patches to fix the frame rate, and maybe even DLC chapters continuing the story.

If you are interested in this, try the demo. This is a very clunky, very outdated (in terms of gameplay and graphics) game. It also has a very inconsistent tone, jumping from deathly serious to campy ridiculousness at the drop of a hat. But despite all that the game is still oddly engaging, and if you like the demo you'll like the full game. When the serious moments work they work beautifully. If you can get past the graphics and awkward controls and are in the mood for something slower paced (a high-octane action game this is not) this is worth trying. You won't find anything else like it.

Another niche style game. This game is for the fans of the series you have to wander around looking for supplies and NPCs to open up story segments, you have to go and find the story cause it does not tell you what to do. Its about exploration during a crisis. You can just stay in the starting area until the time runs out. Our you can go out and try to get yourself out of the situation and help others.
The switch version is full of bugs and its hard to read the text in handheld mode.

The bugs in the game are not so terrible it can’t be played. Just little things like a couple of glitched text responses in the game. Very minor. Very good game overall

This was a new experience as I have not played the previous games in the series. I enjoyed it. It’s very different than games I’ve played in the past so it kept my attention. If you are open to different styles of games and do not mind if a game doesn’t have top of the line graphics this is for you if you can find it! I was lucky and found the last copy in my state a half hour away.

A life-changing title that is full of unexpected moments, funny dialogue choices, and a heartwarming ending through a disastrous city in Japan. It reeks low budget standards, runs poorly, and looks ugly, yet offers one of the best PS2 era titles in a modern AAA gaming age. Play it!

Anyone who is a Disaster Report fan already knows what's up, but this game was worth the wait. It has all the jank and quirks that make this series great. Probably not many copies to go around, so pick it up before it's gone!

The latest Disaster Report game isn't too unlike previous entries. It has a very "Japanese" cultural feel to it as you might expect, and gameplay consists mostly of decision-making under precarious and immediate circumstances. Feels a lot like a visual novel, but with a bit more interactivity. I did enjoy the story once it got going.

I bought this for VR Mode, and the option is grayed out. I cannot select VR Mode. I've tried everything. Day 1 update, Nothing. Re-Installed Offline, Nothing.
Finally, I downloaded the FREE Demo, and VR Mode works on the Free Demo, but not this $60 Retail Version....
All of my other PS VR Games work fine, no issues, except this game.
Unless I am missing something, this was a complete waste of money. Beware if you are looking to buy this for VR Gameplay.
For the record, I am a huge fan of RAW Danger on the PS2, which is why I bought this game for the VR.

It finally came out and it was worth the wait. All the dlc is free too for a limited time. Not as good as Raw Danger but better than Disaster Report.
