Customers are saying

Customers praise Disgaea 5 Complete's engaging gameplay, portability, and the sheer amount of content available, highlighting the expansive story and excellent value, especially at a lower price point. Some players found the voice acting unappealing and the initial difficulty challenging, while others noted a steep learning curve. Despite these minor drawbacks, the positive feedback on gameplay and content strongly outweighs the negative comments.

    Great tactical RPG

Similar to FF Tactics, but has a great cast of characters. Theyre all so unique and entertaining. Hundreds of hours of content plus some adult humor, way more optimization and menu options than 99% of other games I've experienced. So much to do, enjoying this game a lot.

Huge game, made for fans of the genre

This is a MASSIVE jrpg. It's a complete collection of Disgaea 5. There's no problem getting your money's worth from this game. Reading other people's comments, its not uncommon to hear people sink 100s of hours into this game! I won't. This entire series is made specifically for fans of the modern jrpg genre. It's menu driven, deeper (not always apparent) game/combat systems, grinding is required, typical melodramatic story, and "cutesy". I think the developers did this completely on purpose to poke fun at the genre & it's fans as an in joke. (Level 1,000,000 level caps? Come on!) When you add in the honest challenge, which is never cheap, it can become overwhelming. I can get into (some) recent jrpgs and sink 40-60 hrs into them, but this is too much for me. I have a feeling that I would need to put 100 hrs into this one to get something out of it. I don't have that kind of time. Especially, when the game goes out of the way to highlight all modern jrpg stereotypes. On the flip side, while the story is commonplace for these types of games, it's very well written and I smile quite a bit. The characters cover all of the basic genre templates, but the writers gave them a bit more depth, even if they are just super stereotypes. The combat systems are super precise even if they take a lot of learning. Weapon systems involve dungeon grinding to evolve them, which is kind of cool if you have the time. Graphics are typically cute, but the game is nice to look at. Battles take place in a tactical grid format but many maps add extra rules to create a unique challenge. Honestly, this is a well made parody game. I get the joke, but I don't really enjoy it. I am not this game's target audience though. I wouldn't recommend Disgaea 5 to MY friends, but would recommend it to someone that enjoys modern, challenging jrps. Also, consider this a must buy if you're a fan of the series.

Disgaea isn't a casual series, but a rewarding one for those who like to slowly grind unstoppable monsters able to wipe armies out in a hit. Can get tedious at points. Not for kids, the humor is great but not suited for those not yet in their teens.

To fans of the strategy RPG genre, NISA, and the long-running Disgaea series, Disgaea 5 isn't exactly "new", but with the Complete version on Nintendo Switch, not only are you getting all DLC included in one awesome package, but D5 Complete has never felt more at home than on the Switch. Having played previous iterations on Vita and PSP, as well as Disgaea DS - the first and only time Disgaea had been on a Nintendo platform prior - the game has consistently drawn me back thanks to its awesome art style, memorable and humorous dialogue, and fun gameplay. For those of us waiting to get a Fire Emblem game on Switch - minus Warriors coming out later this year - Disgaea 5 scratches that itch so well, providing hours among hours of gameplay. It shines in portable mode, and is great to have with you on the go whenever you want to jump in quickly or binge for hours on it.

There's no doubt that the Switch is the definitive platform to experience the Disgaea franchise. Nearly infinite gameplay in handheld format, or on your TV. One save file. No uploads or messy file transfers. The amount of content in this game is staggering, and the flexibility provided by D5: Complete means that I will get to explore more of it then I ever have before.

It's either this or I am Setsuna if you want to get your RPG fill. This game is very similar to fire emblem, so if you like the FE series then you will love this. There is a massive amount of content in this game. It will take you hundreds of hours too complete it all. It's definitely worth it.
