it's an adventure!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A really good movie done in a spaghetti western genre. Christopher Waltz gives a coolness to his character that keeps you chuckling while eagerly anticipating what'll happen next. The storyline is far out and loaded with bizarre twists and peculiar intricacies, as viewers would expect from a Quentin Tarantino film. And the gun scenes? They are wild, man! Very enjoyable movie in my opinion.

Great movie for my collection!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I only wish that I hadn't waited so long to own my own copy. Jamie and Kerry were outstanding! Though, I'm used to Samuel in action movies... didn't particularly care for his role in this movie.

Best Western Entertainment since Blazing Saddles
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Funny, well produced entertainment. Jackson, DiCaprio, Washington, and the rest of this cast were almost unrecognizable, but true to their Top Star expectations.

Another Excellent Genre Film from Tarantino.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As far as the film itself goes, I think I will categorically state, that if you like Tarantino's other recent films, you will like Django:Unchained. Tarantino again takes a 60s, 70s genre, like the martial arts move in "Kill Bill", only this time focusing on the spaghetti western. More specifically Sergio Corbucci's "Django" released in '66. He takes the archetype of that genre, infuses it with his brand of rapid fire dialogue, humor, and bouts of graphic violence to deliver something that feels both vintage and fresh. That balancing act is made possible by excellent performances from Jamie Foxx, Leonardo Dicaprio, and Christoph Waltz, and even a solid turn from Samuel L. Jackson. The Blu-ray transfer here is excellent in both video quality and audio. The dialogue is clear and the front soundstage dances nimbly between the channels, the LFE channel provides the needed bass weight to the gunshots. The one real weakness, if one is to be found, is the lack of strong extra material. Solid commentary tracks or something, anything, would have been nice. But sadly, all we get is a rather generic documentary. For Tarantino fans, and fans of the gene in general, buy without hesitation. Those on the squeamish side should probably look elsewhere, as the movie does deliver the blood, guts and profanity we've come to expect.

Tarantino Magnifico
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an amazing film and listening to Jamie Foxx describe the process of how he ended up getting yelled at on his first day's work with Quentin on the Howard Stern Show was fascinating. Apparently Foxx, envisioned a much calm cooler, Django at the beginning of the movie. Quetin had to remind him, his character grows into that later...the subtle comment implied stop taking yourself so seriously. Foxx, dropped any entourage type of people who were accompanying him to set, stopped driving his fancy car to set and just would get dropped off by a town car. And let the character embody a level of humbleness that was necessary to give his character a journey and arc to complete. Quentin is a master storyteller, Foxx, Waltz, Jackson, DiCaprio, and Kerry Washington headline the cast but every small part is carefully and perfectly cast as well. Don't miss the late, great Michael Parks' performance towards the end of the film, as well as countless other actors you'll recognize from their work.

It's Tarantino. Need I say more?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bottom line, some of you will be offended by this, but you have to remember something. Django Unchained takes place during the era of slavery. What happens here is a representation of a historical era. I'm not crazy about the 'N' word myself, but I understand why it was used so much. Now that that's out of the way, Django Unchained represents Tarantino's best work. While not his most groundbreaking, it was very impressive. His last film was a World War II revenge fantasy, and it was definitely a different take on it. Django on the other hand presented an unflinching, yet entertaining look on this period in American history. Both Christoph Waltz and Jamie Foxx knocked it out of the park. I already knew Waltz could act. He was a great villain, but makes a great hero too.

Awesome Western from Quentin Tarantino!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.SYNOPSIS: Two years before the Civil War, Django (Jamie Foxx), a slave, finds himself accompanying an unorthodox German bounty hunter named Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) on a mission to capture the vicious Brittle brothers. Their mission successful, Schultz frees Django, and together they hunt the South's most-wanted criminals. Their travels take them to the infamous plantation of shady Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), where Django's long-lost wife (Kerry Washington) is still a slave. Excellent film, very worthwhile entry in Tarantino's director filmography, it even has a Bonus DVD, and the price was great! Great as a double feature with The Hateful 8/Eight.

Another Tarantino classic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a big Quentin Tarantino fan & have seen (& bought) all of his movies so I was looking forward to seeing "Django Unchained" when it was released in theaters - When I saw it, I wasn't disappointed especially with seeing Christof Waltz again after his brilliant performance in "Inglourious (naughty word according to this site)" - The movie was very well made & written (Tarantino deserved his Oscar too) - It also had some quite humorous parts including the masked marauders scene and Samuel L. Jackson's very funny yet menacing performance - As soon as this movie was released on Blu-ray, I bought it - It has tons of extras which I haven't gone through yet since it's sometimes hard to find the time to do just that - I highly recommend getting this movie!

Great for all Tarantino fans
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Another great movie by Tarantino, this time a somewhat historically inaccurate (sunglasses were not available in the U.S. at the time the movie took place, but who cares) movie about Django, a freed slave who teams with a bounty hunter to free his wife from a slaver named Calvin Candy. The movie is a ton of fun, some great scenes and images, particularly the use of red on white, and all the performances were great. As a blu-ray, the picture and sound were splendid, and I had a lot of fun with this one. One word of caution, however: one scene involves two slaves forced to fight hand-to-hand to the death, and another involves a fighting slave mauled to death by a dog. Just a word of caution for what is otherwise a great movie.
