Bananza Bonus
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After playing this for one day, I can tell the Switch 2 should’ve delayed and launched with this game. It’s got a great plot and depth. But I understand Nintendo probably wanted to launch the system with a Mario titled game.

OOOH BANANA
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OKE!! D.K… DONKEY KONG! What a guy. I love that big hairy boi. Not gonna lie, I got a little bored of the game, but I’m glad DK finally got a new 3D game

Fun enough, drags out
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a blast at first, but it's gimmick of destroying the terrain gets old and repetitive nearing the later half of the game. Leaves little desire to play after completing the game to 100%.

DK Bonanza Review
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.5/5) Donkey Kong Bonanza is the wild, chaotic platformer fans have been waiting for. It takes everything we love about the series—jungle energy, playful charm, and big personality—and dials it up with fresh mechanics that make exploration feel bigger than ever. What Works: • The destructible environments are a standout. Smashing walls, tearing through terrain, and uncovering secrets feels natural and addictive. • Levels are huge and full of surprises, blending platforming, puzzle-solving, and free exploration. • The art style pops on the Switch 2—lush jungles, detailed temples, and colorful side characters that keep the game lively. • Tons of collectibles, hidden challenges, and side content give completionists plenty to chase. What Could Be Better: • Performance can stumble during chaotic sequences, with occasional frame drops in docked mode. • Co-op feels fun but undercooked compared to single-player. • Difficulty leans on the easy side—don’t expect the punishing challenge of older Donkey Kong Country titles. Verdict: DK Bonanza is a joy to play—fun, inventive, and bursting with personality. It’s not flawless, but its energy and creativity outweigh the rough edges. Whether you’re smashing through levels solo or casually exploring with friends, this is a must-play for Switch 2 owners.

A platform defining title
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is fantastic. Even for older audiences, this game scratches an itch that many others do not. The level destruction is unmatched, enabling you to destroy a level almost down to only fundamental buildings. The co-op mode is fantastic, if not a little easily abused. The game is just plain satisfyingly fun. It starts out fun, and manages to keep that energy for every second of its playthrough, with not a single dull moment. I normally hate "collect-a-thon" games but this game had me trying to find every single collectible in a level before I proceed to the next. I highly recommend this game to new gamers and veterans alike, on account of how easy it is to just pick it up and play, but also it's ability to make the somewhat simple gameplay very satisfying for those coordinated enough.

Monkey Kong Returns
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the first 3D Donkey Kong game since DK 64 and the return to form can not be overstated. This game is not only a Donkey Kong game but also feels like a follow up to Mario Odyssey. The terrain destruction is super satisfying and the platforming balances easy exploration with the option to perform more advance techniques to add challenge. There are also numerous challenge levels which range from a quick easy combat section to what feels like an entire level from Donkey Kong Country games or Mario Galaxy. The only gripe I have with the game is that while the bosses are varied and fun they tend to be quite easy to beat in a short amount of time. This doesn't apply to near the end of the game where things ramp up quite a bit. Excellent game and just what the Switch 2 needed to keep up its momentum.

Donkey Kong returns!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It had been a while since we last saw Donkey Kong in a brand new game. It's been slim pickings, with the recent entries being just ports of a Wii and a Wii-U game, and he hadn't had a 3D platforming game since since 1999! Well, not to worry, because Donkey Kong returns in a triumphant new adventure! This game is a blast to play! You play as Donkey Kong being accompanied by a young girl named Pauline, as they head to the planet's core to stop a brand new villain named Void Kong and his minions. Along the way, you explore sublayer after sublayer of what are truly some gigantic levels! The gameplay consists of smashing your way through enemies and obstacles, and some few very well placed bosses. I was skeptical of this game at first, with it looking very different from the typical Donkey Kong game, and wondering how it would perform on the Switch 2. Well, not to worry, because the game performs supremely well on the new console! There are a few framerate hitches here and there, as the screen gets truly filled with stuff during some bonus levels, but for the most part, the Switch 2 does incredible work with rendering the world of this very vibrant looking title. Best of all, ALMOST EVERYTHING is breakable in the game!!! That's right, you can break almost everything! This is the most impressive thing in the game by far - the fact that you can destroy almost every inch of the terrain if you really put your mind to it! This game is made by the same developer of Super Mario Odyssey, and you can tell they spared no expense in the detail they put into this finely tuned title. The destructibility of the environment is something that becomes very important, as it forces you to think creatively in order to overcome some of the obstacles in your way. And boy are there A LOT of things to collect in the game, as you fight your way past those obstacles. This game reinvigorates the collectathon genre, in a way I've rarely seen before. All of the old mainstays from the series are here, including Diddy Kong and Cranky, and Rambi, even if you don't play as them, and the new cast complements the series well. Pauline proves to be a more than suitable replacement for Diddy, with her having her own unique powers that you unlock stuff with throughout the game. The primary of these are the Bananza transformations she bestows on DK with her singing, which are great fun to play and are wild to see on screen! This is one of the best games Nintendo has produced recently. It is addictive, and you will struggle to put down the controller once you get really into the game, because of how much fun you're having. Along with Mario Kart World, this is easily one of the reasons to own a Nintendo Switch 2. It is a supremely crafted game, and one that the gaming industry needs more of - just pure fun from beginning to end, without the need for a massive overwhelming story or the combined budget of three Hollywood blockbusters. Here's hoping this spurs publishers to re-invest more in these types of games, and come out with pleasant surprises like a new Spyro or Banjo Kazooie game, or the holy grail, a new Ape Escape game. Astro Bot was already doing a tremendous job showing how incredible platformers can be, and Donkey Kong Bananza rolls the ball even further. Practically perfect in every way, with only a few very minor flaws to quibble over. Highly recommended!!!

Goated
|Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is goated. One of Nintendo's best. would recommend it to everyone. There's a lot of content in the game, so kids and adults would be engrossed in it for hours on end. I wish the game were a little harder, though, but it is a Nintendo game, so there's no surprise there.

DK GOAT
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Donkey Kong Bonanza delivers everything you’d ever want from a DK game and then some. The levels are creative, colorful, and full of that classic Donkey Kong charm. Every stage feels alive, and the mix of platforming, puzzles, and secrets keeps you hooked from start to finish. The controls feel smooth, the music is catchy, and the overall vibe is pure fun. Whether you’re a longtime Donkey Kong fan or brand new to the series, Bonanza hits that perfect balance between nostalgia and fresh gameplay. I had a smile on my face the entire time playing. If you want a game that’s full of energy, personality, and great design, Donkey Kong Bonanza is a must-play. Highly recommended!

"Bananaaaaa Slamma!"
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Safe to say this is the best (original) Switch 2 title as of today. Excellent level design & crazy fun gameplay, loads of great easter eggs to spot as well, this really does have a ton in common with Mario Odyssey given its studio also made Bananza. The boss fights may be a touch underwhelming, but an absolutely bananas final boss fight more than makes up for it in my opinion.

Best Game for Switch 2
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So much to do and destroy. It took me 45 minutes to get out of the tutorial because I was testing all the capabilities and moves. The game looks great and plays great. The music is awesome. And I truly enjoy all the puzzles and item collecting. That being said, the game is a little too easy but that also makes it more fun.

More of this, please!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Donkey Kong is back, baby! This is like a wif of fresh monkey breath! Solid game. Runs great. Looks great! finally after years since the well outdated donkey Kong 64 we have a all new 3D Donkey Kong using modern technology and gain playing mechanics, you would expect of a modern AAA title! It’s familiar enough that it fits in with other quality platforming titles, but has enough unique elements to make it something special. There’s definitely still some room for improvement in adding new gameplay mechanics in future releases, but there’s a lot to offer here and it’s a great game that you’ll have a lot of fun with. The ability to choose different pads to complete the level allows for those who want to master completing the level as fast as possible with a challenge, while allowing those that are just there to have fun and take their time to still have things to do, and have lots of fun!

Great Game With One Major Caveat
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At last showing a bit more love for our iconic banana loving mascot and finally getting a new game under his belt. If you played Mario Odyssey then you'll definitely feel a connection between these two games but overall still a great semi-open world with major diversity of levels and characters to enjoy. If there's any real complaint it would be the camera as there's still some major issues at times with its functionality especially if you're going underground on a level you're playing as you can quickly become disoriented. Still while pricey it's definitely a great game to have for any Switch 2 owner and one many Switch 2 owners wouldn't mind underneath the Christmas tree this year.

Donkey Kong Bananza
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Donkey Kong Bananza is one of the most creative and fun 3D platformers in years. Smashing through anything in the environment never gets old, and every level adds something new and exciting to see or do. There's tons of Nintendo charm, packed with secrets and clever design, plus the co-op mode with Pauline is a blast. It’s not the hardest game ever, but exploring, collecting, and using crazy transformations keeps it super entertaining from start to finish. If you want a platformer that shows off what the Switch 2 can do, Donkey Kong Bananza is a must-own.

DK Bananza review
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is a lot of fun to be had with "DK Bananza". For those sensitive to dizziness, you can turn down the sensitivity and completely turn off the camera vibration. You can also turn off the motion controls if those bother you, but they didn't bother me so I left them on. As for the gameplay, there are some very easy areas in this game and some very hard, but rewarding sections. There is a lot of incentive to search for more collectibles as they allow you to max out your skill tree. The music is very catchy! If you have a Switch 2, this is a must buy.

Best of 2025
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Donkey Kong: Banana-nza is just flat-out fun. The levels are colorful, the controls feel smooth, and the music is ridiculously catchy. I found myself smiling the whole time. Some bosses are a bit repetitive and a few levels get frustratingly tough, but it never stopped me from wanting to keep playing. There’s so much charm packed into every stage, and plenty of secrets to go back and find. Honestly, it’s one of the best Donkey Kong games I’ve played in years. If you love platformers, this one’s absolutely worth it.

Punching Has Never Been This Fun!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don’t think punching has ever been this much fun! Donkey Kong Bonanza is an absolute blast, from the same brilliant team behind Mario Odyssey. The level design and mechanics are top notch. Exploring and tearing through the terrain never gets old. Playing it reminds me of right being a kid with Mario 64, but now with 20+ years of advancements in hardware and game design. This should have been the pack-in game with the switch 2!
