This game brings back small visual elements from the classic DOOM games. This game is AMAZING. Makes you feel powerful. The levels on which you annihilate crowds of demos are very well designed. Even the platforming got an upgrade. The Doom Slayer got more abilities and features. Swinging, climbing, dashing.. IT’S AWESOME! The music is top-notch as well. Fits the game seamlessly. You’ll think to yourself mid-game. “Dang, THIS MUSIC IS GREAT!” This game still feels like a DOOM game if you know what I mean. Definitely a must grab. Great game :)

This is the most intense action first person shooter period. Highly recommended.. some fight can be pretty difficult, even on Hurt me plenty.

This game is brutal!!! It takes what DOOM 2016 started and it grows on that platform. There is sooooo much more depth to this game, and it shows! The graphics are stunning and gameplay is fluid as can be, even on the base PS4! New demons, new weapon mods, more intense story...there’s something for everyone in this game! For those not familiar with the game, it will be a challenge. For the veterans, this is the DOOM we’ve all been waiting for! If you are a fan of DOOM, this is a must have! If you aren’t a fan, it’s still a must have!!!

Doom 2016 was a straight power fantasy through and through. In Eternal, the player has to work for their fun. While the Slayer is stronger and faster, the enemies are far more aggressive and resources are less readily available. The player must always be on their toes. It’s exhilarating to master the game and the systems for those who are up for it. At that point, the player is dancing with danger through the whole game. For others who were hoping for another easy power fantasy it may come off as frustrating.

This is a game that I have many mixed feeling and opinions about. I was very excited for this game and started replaying Doom 2016 the week before Eternal came out. I loved the first time I played Doom 2016 and loved replaying it. Super excited I picked up Eternal on early release and the same day I beat Doom 2016. Right after, I started playing Eternal. This could have a negative impact on how I saw Eternal. I started noticing difference between both games. Which is not bad. I liked the idea the Devs did not just reused assets and painted a new coat over it. However, there are some designs of the game I don't agree with and don't think they fit the persona the developers created in Doom 2016. Now the Doom Slayer is not just rage. He has a history of being a saviour, rather than just being a carnage in human form. You can actually see part of his face under the helmet. He feels, in a way, more calm. Not as aggressive. I did not enjoy all of the tutorials that were given for each enemy, weapon, mod, etc. It interrupted the gameplay. Felt very out of place and unnecessary. As a developer myself, I understand the need of always making software that is accessible. We always (at least we should) to keep it simple. In this game, the developers added a good amount of mechanics that were not available in the first game. All of this good, if if they were optional to fight against the hordes of monster without feeling like using those new mechanics its the only way to beat the game. Which takes me to my next point, I don't enjoy how the game pushes you to beat your enemy in one way and one only. There's a lot more grievance that I had with the game (like not being polished enough, enemies behavior being very simplistic and static, etc.) but the game is still fun. Very fun and very addicting. At the of the day, that is the driving factor of why we play (at least mine). Even without the things that I liked about Doom 2016, this game did its own thing and I'm glad it did. I can appreciate the effort the developers put into this game to make sure it felt like something new. So go buy it and play it.

I throroughly enjoyed 2016's Doom fast paced action. Doom Eternal keeps everything great about that game, and adds some welcome additions that, in my eyes, makes for a refreshing change. Demons now need to be strategically attacked rather than just spraying bullets at everything. Traversal is also changed with the additional of mid-air "dash" that allows you to move even faster throughout the environments and makes for some interesting platforming. Overall, if you're into FPS's, then this is the game for you.

Doom 2016 surprised everyone with how fluid and satisfying the gameplay loop was. The movement and gunplay are things games will try to replicate for years. This time around, there is a much stronger emphasis on the story and traversal mechanics, both of which work very well for the game, but the main selling point still stands, the gameplay. Every gun, returning and new, feel and sound incredible, the new demons are a riot, and I highly recommend playing this on a good headset/speaker setup, it's worth it.

I was patiently waiting for Doom Eternal to release on Nintendo Switch but since the physical version wan canceled i decided to pick it up for PS4 instead. This version was on sale for a third of the price of the digital only Switch version. (I prefer physical games). I'll wait for the next gen upgrade and play it on my Playstation 5 instead. I just hope the PS5 version will add gyro controls. The Dualsense controller is capable of it. Please make it happen Bethesda.

The sequel to DOOM 2016 picks up where it left off. Full of intense background metal core music that matches the pace of the game. Vibrant colors. Excellent demons and codex to allow you to build your strategy. Free DLC updates that enhance the difficulty and newness to the game. If you are a FPS player this is a must have for your collection.

First off, if you liked Doom 2016, this is very much the Doom II to that game. That is, bigger, expanded arsenal and levels, more demons, more secrets, more variety. That's overall a positive, and I enjoyed Eternal more than 2016 as a result. It is an awesome game, and very much in my top running for the year. The gameplay is fast and fluid, and aside from a few finicky traversal moves, it's pretty much what I wanted from a Doom game. The new and upgraded weapons are great, too. And the visual design is a lot more diverse compared to 2016's reliance on red and brown. However, much as I enjoyed it, there are a few issues. First, some of the new enemy types are downright annoying to fight, relying on constant teleporting and long range harassment, or requiring split second timing to damage, which wouldn't be so bad if every single thing in the game didn't rely on shaking the screen and disorienting or knocking me back in some way, on ground or in the air. (The following is at the time of writing.) And my biggest complaint, and the reason I'm docking it points? This game requires a Bethesda account to play while connected to the internet. Not to play online multiplayer, mind you, but to play period while online. You can not skip the prompt to log in, even if you have zero interest in the multiplayer. This meant I was forced to either figure out my Bethnet login (try dealing with Bethsoft support), make a new one (see: how they handle your personal info) or manually disconnect my PS4 from the network before playing. This wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that all of the unlockable skins and modifiers (outside of cheats) require you to be online. This is true even for single-player unlockables that you then can not use unless connected to the internet. This restriction alone almost caused me to return the game because it's absolutely stupid that such a system is in place. This is made even worse because the preorder DLC skins will also not work offline, for no valid reason. This is unacceptable that a game like Doom Eternal actually succeeds in removing single player content if you aren't connected to the internet. I love id and Doom Eternal, but what Bethesda has done here is unacceptable and they need to be called out on it, lest they pull this with more games in the future.

I'm a huge doom fan and I thought this was an excellent installment I'm the franchise. Combat is too notch, graphics and sound design are both impressive along with a great soundtrack! But the some of the puzzles slow the flow of the game and can be frustrating for some people. Great game overall if you wanna sit back after a tough day at work with Ice cold refreshment! Plus you're also doing God's work by destroying the demons so yea

This game truly slaps hard as hell. Fast paced, great emphasis on use of all weapons, viable for tons of playstyles and weapon choices. Only gripe is that the only way to switch weapons is to use quick swap or radial wheel (tap or hold switch button). You can't cycle through (forward/backwards) weapons which can slow the gameplay down a little bit but that's really a personal issue,
