    Nothing new or impressive

I've read other reviews comparing it to Oblivion, the only thing that makes it similar is that it's an RPG. When i first began to play i thought it might be a good game becasue of the options on building you character and class ect... after that my hope for a new open world OBLIVION type game came crashing down. after you get through the LONG drawn out begining! you finally get to a ponit in the game where you are sent out into the "wilds" i was thinking finally i can roam and do what i like .. nope! This might be petty but you can't even get into the water no free roaming (or atleast nothing like OB/Fallout. More like FABLE you can roam to the sides of the trail but can't walk over the pebble on the side of the road.. Collecting items from the dead bodies couldn't be more annoying and just plainly slows down the game! after you kill a bunch of bad guys you have to back track to recover items off them and to make it worse a window opens up to select each item you want. I will give this game another chance this weekend just to see if maybe it gets better, but so far it feels like a really, really bad version of Oblivion and that's an insult to Oblivion.

    Really good so far

When I went to buy this game, I had my doubts. I really like Bioware's products, but I was leary of a new engine (Eclipse). Fortuanatly, my fears were for nothing. I am about 7-8 hours into the main plot and so far, it has been great. There are many different storyline paths you can take at character creation, so far, throughout the story that affects the storyline and your circumstances. This really plays to BioWare's strength of immersive plots. Major props for this. Character development is pretty good. I probably hold MassEffect and Oblivion in higher regard, but this game is really close to those imho. The only real downside is the graphics and animation could be better. They aren't bad, just not as polished as some of the other games out these days. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys single player RPGs.

I'm not a gamer. I avoid buying games, because I usually only play them a few times. I saw an ad for Dragon Age and I was instantly intrigued, however, I avoided buying it because I was worried I wouldn't play it. I finally bought the game because my brother-in-law couldn't stop talking about it--it was clearly one of the best games he had ever played. I have owned the game for about a month now and I've already logged nearly 20 hours on it. I'm actually eager to get home tonight so I can play some more. If you like the Fable series, then I think you'll like DragonAge. The game requires a bit of setup, which was almost enough to make me lose patience, but the game picks up pretty quickly. The gameplay is quite similar to Fable or Assassin's Creed, but the world is much more contained than Assassin's Creed.

Great story, quirky battle interphase however

I was hoping that BioWare would mimic the great storytelling act they had done with Mass Effect and they surely did not disappoint. The graphics in this game is very average. It's probably one of the few games that would actually look pleasant on a Nintendo Wii with it's primitive graphics processor. Overall, if you're into managing your inventories and battle tactics of people in your party, you'll love Dragon Age. It's not exactly like Oblivion because the battle aspect of it all is quite frustrating at times. You really have to stare hard to see which enemy your selected character is attacking. Nobody is screaming for help if they need health or mana. You kind of have to scroll through your characters quickly during battle to make sure they're all in great shape and not dying. In these cases, sometimes a turn based fighting scheme would make this game better (like a Japanese RPG or JRPG). But aside from that, the decisions you make do truly affect the story down the road. It's not like Mass Effect or Fable 2 where your character can be labelled as a bad person or good person. There have been some choices where I just felt like being the bad guy and made horrible/immoral decisions and they DO make a difference as the story goes along. Overall, it's a great RPG to play while I await the highly anticipated Mass Effect 2.

Great game. I like that you can get through the different intros in a couple of hours and see some different story lines that all appear to be well done. The game has incorporated a lot of great elements from Mass Effect and Oblivion.

    Character doesn't talk?

I bought this game based on the cool trailer videos, the character creator download that was on the DA website, and that the game seemed conected to Mass Effect... I have only played for about two hours, but so far I am not impressed... the graphics are just ok... and while you pick a voice for your character, I haven't spoken once in the game... Your character just stands around with a dumb look when they do actually show it... I don't know if there are special cut scenes down the road where your character talks or what... but for now it is very disapointing. The game is a bit long to rent, but if I were you I would wait until it is cheaper... The other thing I don't like is they release the game with DLC content that always bothers me as it seems it is just a way to get additional cash out of us gamers... it's one thing if it is down the road, but when it's released with the game it seems it should be part of the game not an expansion or add on... If you liked oblivion then I guess your used to not talking so then it would be ok... my frustration comes more from the misleading character creator and ties to Mass Efect... I also hate the circles around the charactrers... I feel like I am playing ultimate alliance with Thors mute cousin.

i'll admit i did how some doubts about this game. I love fantasy rpg games and have been a big fan of the company ever since the first Star War: Knights of the Old Republic. I was also a big fan of oblivion (only referencing is due to the similiarity in feel due to content). This game really delivers and is worth of the high ratings given to it by many of the game review sites. Supposed to be over 100 hours of content which i so far can believe. I've only gotten a few hours into it but i already am completely drawn into it. You get to live you character's background and it changes based of the decisions you make. Overall i would HIGHLY suggest this game if you like fantasy rpg's, KotOR, Mass Effect, or just want a good game that will last you longer than most.

    Good, not great

The RPG powerhouse Bioware has released its newest game and the traditional Bioware feel is immediately noticeable. Unfortunately, the game falls short of Bioware's other wonderful efforts. The graphics may be thought of as weak (for those who care, I personally thought they were fine), there were some frame rate issues, and the lack of no tutorials is brutal in this game. It was difficult figuring out all the nuances of the fighting and character development mechanics without a tutorial in the beginning. To focus on the positives, I thought the story was well done and there is an extensive backstory for those who are interested in that sort of thing. Also, the degree of customization available is fantastic and I spent hours adjusting fighting tactics to suit how I play. The character interactions are great and I actually grew to care about what happened to my party. So in the end, this game will be appreciated by RPG lovers, Bioware fans, or those willing to put in the time to learn how to play this game.

I really try to like this game but after beating the human campaing all that I can said is that this is a bad game, there is no excuses to make a game this ugly with all the competition, how can a 2 year old game (mass effect) made by the same company can look years ahead of this mediocre game? also, Mass Effect rise the bar on gaming with all the voice acting, graphics and making your caracter finally be able to talk, how this company took a BIG step back? the game has a good story to follow and any die hard RPG fan should like this game but to say that this game is a 5 stars game! give me a break!

I'm very excited for this game, I'm 55 hours into the gameplay and I have yet to get bored. That says a lot, especially for me. The character interactions are amazing and at times very, very funny. It feels like an expanded version of Diablo in some ways. I like it a lot and would recommend it to anyone who wants to play a console rpg. It offers plenty of room for fun for everyone from the casual gamer to the hardcore strategist.

This game is quite an epic tail, quite fantastic and not like oblivion with its super over-used voices and overused textures. In this game you can choose to be one of three races with one of three classes, that from there can be subdivided into different..."jobs?" its has an amazing story line, and one of the best parts about this game is really and im not joking, the reading of the miles of text. It really is like reading a really amazing book but its all captured so perfectly. Not kidding if you took everything you do in this game and put it in text form, it would be a best seller. Though the combat can get a little "annoying" and the graphics aren't top notch. Im sure that when not if you will enjoy it. Though I warn you, this isn't a game you will beat in a day... It is quite a challenge...

First off if you like emersive role playing games this is for you, it will instantly hook you from the beninging with one of the seven different story lines. One could say that it takes inspiration from elder scrolls oblivion, fable 2, and world of warcraft to make a very unique and fun gaming experience. The world that you are in is very large but not quite as explorable as oblivion, but equally fun. The fact that you can have party members is something that I really like, as well as the interesting mini games you can do with each of the individual party members. Overall I am very impressed with this game and would say that it is the best fantasy RPG's that I have played this year. I would highly refer this game to anyone, and have told many friends. In closing go buy this game you will not be let down!!

    Awesome game for RPG lovers

As an avid RPG fan, I found this game to be fantastic. It is a deep RPG with a long, evenly paced story. Although it felt a bit slower than Mass Effect, the game retains all of Bioware's trademarks. I am on my second playthrough and the first one took me about 70 hours. As soon as I finished, I had to play again to see what I could change by making different decisions. This game is probably not for the casual RPG fan. The story supercedes the action in this game and some could be turned off by the slow pace. The only negatives I found were some slight bugginess and graphics that did not quite live up to the quality of the Mass Effect graphics. Ultimately, if you are looking for a rich game with a storyline reminiscent of Tolkein or George RR Martin, then this game is for you.

This is a great game with an epic story line. It starts a little slow but is very nuanced. Expect some real plot twists. You'll be asked to make some morally grey decisions as there is often not a clear wrong or right path. I've invested 22 hours and am 22% complete. Looking forward to the other 78%!
