Wow. I have bought every Dynasty Warriors game since the PSX, the series has had its ups and downs for sure, but Tecmo-KOEI has never made an entry this bad. First of all, I'm playing this on the Xbox One X, the most powerful console on the market, and the performance is shocking. Screen tearing, low resolution assets, frame rate drops, and worst of all, there is no settings to tweak that give you any options over how it runs. It really needs a locked 30 FPS mode, or a performance mode, or something, because as it stands now it's one of the ugliest games I've played in some time. The objects in the "open world" are mostly for show, heck you can just run through camps and tents because there's no collision built into the structures. There is nothing worth seeing in the open world, as much as I'd love to believe this game can work this way, it simply can't, there is no way a game like this works without having traditional levels. The combat is also the worst it's ever been. Instead of traditional combos, you now just mash X and then use RB to select an overpowered finisher and you can basically stun-lock every opponent to death. Even putting the difficulty up as high as possible did not change the fact that the enemies are a complete joke because of the redesigned system, I love Three Kingdoms games, I will continue to support KOEI if they make good games, but don't buy this, get Dynasty Warriors 7 or 8, they are much better than this pile of garbage.

I can see where they were going with this installment, BUT this feels like an unfinished product. Still fun to play, but severely lacking in some areas. Graphics is pretty bad in this one and voice over is atrocious. They have the fine print now, so hopefully the next one will be what is expected from them.

this game is so bad it's epic.Terrible changes to battle system, voice overs are so bad and collision is terrible. older dynasty warriors games are better. the ps2 version is better than this garbage. it is not worth 60 bucks. they should pay you 60 to take it. Avoid this game. maybe dw10 will be good.

If you are a fan of Dynasty Warriors, you should give this game a shot. The story is excellent, the gameplay is fun. The open world is a nice addition, though there are some bugs associated that can hamper your enjoyment.

The next generation leap did very little for the Dynasty Warriors franchise. The excitement at the prospect of an open world game quickly waned. The core combat still is Dynasty Warriors, so most fans will know what they are getting into. Recommended only for strong (existing) fans of the franchise.

hack and slash fun, terrible voice acting, super repetitive

the quality could have been better, run around the camp and into things without anything happening. Story line is good, just they do not do english voices for these games anymore, so you have to read the translation as the characters talk. Battle mode is still awesome though

This Dynasty Warrior was a little different, but just as much fun as the rest. You can open up LU BU faster- but his story is short.

I like that they are changing it up. Needs some work on graphics but it’s a solid foundation.

I enjoy playing this game but I don't really like all the customization and the way the story works. Gone are the days where you could start up Dynasty Warriors and just start smashing through baddies.

Good game, been playing most of the dynasty warrior games for a while, even when I was stationed in San Diego, and also good to play with other friends.

I love this series. I've played it since the Original Xbox. This release adds more of the same again. More warriors but the graphics are not really fabulous. But it's still alot ot fun if you like this genre.

I like the previous versions better. The earlier versions had better graphics.

Even though this is the first dynasty warriors with an open world it is still the same action of the previous, you might have to fast travel but the combat is true to form.

I’ve played every Dynasty Warriors game with the exception of the first one. Honestly they broke this game by trying to make it new and exciting. They failed unfortunately. I hope they rebound and go back to what made them fun.

while this game did have some fun points to it, it wasn't a dynasty warriors game. at often times it felt like a horse riding simulator and the graphics were so bad I though my xbox was breaking

this is a great and fun game. Exceed my expectation. My 10 years old loves it.

The whole reason the Dynasty Warriors series is so awesome is my son and I play it together. They took that away in the 9th edition.... fail. Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires is by far the superior game.

If you like games with a lot of hack & slash action, you can do no wrong here!! Action packed!!
